UNIT Sustainable Branding Guide By Laila
BRANDING GUIDE OVERVIEW OF THE BRAND AND GUIDE Enclosed is a sustainable visual identity for the uncorporate organisation UNIT. UNIT is a music production space run by Quest Music Services, an independent arts organisation. Located at the Thameside Complex, this space has four music areas- workshop, radio station, performance stage, and music production. The major objective behind the brand identity is to have design sensibility. Inside this manual are the components to a ‘container’ identity that gives the organisation maximum freedom for experimentation and a flexible identity that they are able to maintain by using only the tools and equipment already supplied at the music production studio. You will need: 2x Headsets 1x Projector

ALETTE The primary colours are key indicators of UNIT brand design. Purple is the most oftenly used for typography, while blues act as supporting colours that can be used for backgrounds and design elements. Additionally the tone of each colour can be adjusted when projected to create more depth within design elements and touch points. The colours are mirrored from Unit’s community environment.
ORK SHOP
To extend the project further I propose the idea of setting up a workshop myself in the brands environment which involves the local emerging artists, volunteers and community to create art from my headphone letters as templates. The imagery created from the templates in the workshops involving the community, would produce multiple patterns and new variations to be used for the brand and keep it changing and adapting for the future. The new community workshop would create an identity that relfects the values and aims of the brand as a whole. Incorporating the new variations of the type into the space gives freedom to interpretation, the community desgining the images’ will add their own reflection of the brand to its identity.
Projecting into the studios. Use a portable projecter to relfect the stencils created in the workshops onto the walls and furnishings in the space. Representing the identity of UNIT as a space, the furnishings and environment in which the shapes are projected onto will create more depth within the design elements and a movement of colour. Photograph these elements in the environment and use as images in the brands publications. A flexible identity based on ‘formula’ or ‘container’ gives the brand freedom to interpretation and a system to generate visuals. When an image is projected into a space there are multiple interpretations that can be percieved depending on a persons interaction.
