Cross Country Returns to Laker Athletics

Kate Bushue will lead the newly introduced men and women’s cross country and half marathon teams this fall.

Celebrating Apprentices

In November, Michael Baker, Manager of Strategic Planning and Innovation from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, joined Lake Land College President Josh Bullock for a proclamation of National Apprenticeship Week.

Courtney Yockey, President/CEO of Effingham Regional Growth Alliance, highlighted the personal and community-wide benefits of apprenticeship with a keynote address.

A native of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Bushue, competed in both cross country and track & field at Eastern Illinois University, where she earned numerous awards and honors. Bushue previously served as the cross country head coach at Mattoon High School from 2023-2024.

KC Summers, JB Esker & Sons, North American Lighting and 3 Sisters Logistics (pictured above) were all honored for participating in apprenticeships with Lake Land.
