A new year is upon us, a time for change and growth for everyone at Lake Land College. I have been asked to tell of my experience here at Lake Land, and I gladly accepted. I have had the benefit of being at Lake Land for a year now and I am doing things I never thought possible when I signed up for classes as an eager freshman. Lake Land invites change, and as scary as change is, it is a good thing. Over a year ago I never would have imagined myself being involved at the campus as much as I am now. I never would have imagined that I would be helping run The Navigator, Lake Land’s student newspaper. As a commuter student, my expectations for involvement outside the classroom were low. I figured I would go to class, do homework, meet a few friends and go home. I viewed my Laker experience as a step to my future university, but Lake Land has become so much more than that. As cliché as the saying goes, life is what you make it, which includes campus life. I took a gamble applying for The Navigator; I didn’t think it would affect my life very much. I was certainly wrong. Now I find myself going to almost all the SAB events, going to pep rallies, games and even the Homecoming Dance. All these things happened because I allowed myself to be involved on campus. The past two months of my sophomore year have been the best of my Lake Land experience because I let myself have an actual Lake Land experience. So if becoming a Laker is in your future, I advise you to do the same. Enjoy the experience Lake Land can offer you, from the games in the Field House, like bubble soccer, to the comedy shows in the auditorium. If you want to have the “Laker experience” there are plenty of opportunities. Austin Wendling

AS YOU WALK
through the new Luther Student Center (LSC), you quickly take note of the excitement that fills the air. Groups of students are gathered on the new Learning Stairs working on their laptops; other students are sitting in circular booths working together on group projects; while faculty, staff and students are eating together discussing the most recent news. Walk down the hall and you see new glasswalled conference rooms where student organizations are planning the next social events, faculty and staff are working on a new academic program pathways initiative and the Student Government Association is meeting to finalize new student elections. The new 18,000-square-foot addition to the Luther Student Center now provides a “onestop” shopping-like experience for our students who are able to access Admissions & Records, Counseling Services, Career Services, Financial Aid, Accounting and TRiO Student Support Services all under one roof. The close proximity of offices creates an environment where students can grab lunch, shop at the Laker Nest Bookstore, stop by Student Life to learn how to start a new organization and learn about internship opportunities in Career Services − all in ONE location! The Lake Land College Police Department is also housed within the LSC, providing a visible commitment to its community policing philosophy. Students can stop by with questions and find security in knowing police officers are there to help them. We are excited to share the new Luther Student Center with you and our students. Please mark your calendars for an open house on December 5 from 3-6:30 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., we will have a brief ceremony to honor the building’s namesake, Dr. Robert K. As the first summer study abroad venture to Spain he was eager to introduce the beauty of Spanish art, history, food and language to Lake Land College students and community members.

Each building seemed to have a historical importance in every city we visited.” From Barcelona, the students took several different forms of transportation across the Spanish countryside, stopping in Zaragoza, Spain’s central capital of Madrid, Córdoba, Seville and ending in the coastal city of Málaga.
The adventure began in the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, Barcelona. Known for the stunning architecture spotted throughout the city including La Sagrada Familia church and Antoni Gaudí landmarks, Barcelona offered the students a chance to marvel at the beauty of some of the world’s greatest artists.
“My favorite part of the entire trip was our last destination when we had time at the beach. The view was unlike anything I had ever seen,” Hunter said. “The sky was light blue that gradually turned into a bright pink the farther the ocean went. The beach was peaceful after long days of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. It perfectly summed up my time on the trip.”
“Studying abroad is an amazing experience if one ever gets the chance to go. I was very nervous before we left, because I had never flown and the farthest I had ever been away from home was Ohio,” Hailey Hunter said. “Spain is filled with history that we could see just by

The study abroad opportunity is available through humanities and is open to all students. Basic knowledge of the Spanish language is encouraged, but not required. All that is needed is a desire to see the world. “I learned more than I could have imagined while on this trip,” Hunter said. “I figured I would go to Spain and see some famous artwork, but I left with knowledge in culture, language and the historical importance of Spain. I would highly recommend asking instructors about opportunities to study abroad.” The summer 2020 trip to Spain will be from June 15-24 and will run an estimated $3,700 for participants 23 years and younger and $4,200 for participants above 23 years of age. OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO STUDY ABROAD BELIZE
From jaguars and Mayan Ruins to the rainforest, the country of Belize possesses a wealth of adventures to explore. Join Dyke Barkley, horticulture instructor, to experience firsthand one of the most unique areas on the planet by spending part of the winter break on a short-term study abroad. The cost of the trip is $1,900 and $324 for tuition and fees, totaling $2,224. Lodging at Dream Valley-Juntos Cottages, meals, airfare and ground transportation and all expeditions are covered in the cost. Registration for the upcoming January 2020 trip is closed, however registration for the January 2021 will open in August of 2020 and is filled on a first come, first served basis. JAPAN
With more than a dozen UNESCO World Heritage sites and the birthplace of the samurai, Japan is a beautiful country covered in towering mountain caps and never-ending fields of rice patties. Join Kim Davis, education instructor, in October of 2020 for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to teach English language classes in a Japanese classroom in the rural prefecture of Nagano. Students will stay with a host family while staying in Japan, therefore accommodation, transportation within Japan, meals and any hotel stays will be covered. The student is responsible for covering the round-trip plane ticket which can range from $1,800 to $2,800 depending on the time of purchase. Registration is currently open and will end May 1, 2020. ENGLAND/FRANCE
Lake Land College students and community members are invited to explore London, England and Paris, France in May of 2020. Join Valerie Lynch, director of student life, for a breathtaking adventure and a stop at Disneyland Paris on the final day of the trip. The price will range from $3,480 to $3,810 based on chosen occupancy in rooms, the age of the traveler and potential discounts available at the time of enrollment. Airfare, transportation, security, accommodation, trip insurance, entry tickets to venues and the majority of meals are included in the price. The registration deadline is February 13, 2020. The trip is scheduled for May 18-26, 2020, but EF Productions may adjust the departure date by up to two days. The trip will remain nine days regardless of the date of departure. Clapp (left) is a nursing instructor at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Saint Mary-ofthe-Woods, Indiana. Clapp’s drive to become the best healthcare provider possible and his passion to be a lifelong learner began at Lake Land College. “For me, my time at Lake Land College was perhaps the most informative and satisfying years as a student in higher education,” Clapp said.
“From the moment I arrived on campus as a nursing student there was a clear expectation of personal accountability, social/community responsibility and academic excellence. Inside the classroom, the small class size, rigorous curriculum, endless clinical opportunities and frequent personal interactions with expert faculty provided a solid educational and clinical foundation that would set the standard for how I view a nursing professional. Outside of the classroom, the numerous social opportunities, both within and outside my area of study, allowed me the opportunity to explore a variety of experiences and interact with peers from a

variety of backgrounds. I will forever be grateful to Lake Land College for setting the foundation for my future successes.”

Wise (center) is the agricultural educator and FFA advisor at Okaw Valley High School (OVHS). After receiving an associate degree from Lake Land College, Wise attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
“Lake Land College helped to lay the foundation for my career and success in education,” Wise said. “Lake Land was the perfect fit for me as a small town student that needed to bridge the gap between high school and a university. Without Lake Land College, I have no doubt that I would never be in the position that I am today. I am beyond proud to say that I am celebrating my 15th year in education because of the outstanding education that I received at Lake Land College. “During my time at Lake Land College several of the faculty inspired me to continue to follow my dream of becoming an educator. Curt Rincker was the first to cultivate this passion and was the main reason that I chose education. Additionally, Jon Althaus, Bob Jurgens and Jon Van Dyke built upon the foundation that Curt had started and fed my passion of agriculture and education. These men no doubt helped shape me into the educator I have become today.”

As an outstanding business owner who consistently gives back to the regional community, Perdomo gained a world of experience during her years as a Lake Land student. “This small town girl came to the big town of Mattoon to attend Lake Land College. I was met with open arms and wonderful experiences,” Perdomo said. “The staff members were always there whenever you needed them and helped prepare me for the business world. Marlene Meek was always there just like a mom when we needed her. Krista Burrell always pushed us to do our best and believed in us even when we didn’t believe in ourselves. Every time I’m back here on campus, I am still met with open arms and now with my business I get to make people happy by feeding them! Thank you to all of those who helped me get to where I am today. Lake Land College will always hold a special place in my heart!”
KELLY SAGER LAKER NATION CLASS OF 1991
Sager is the President and CEO of HSHS Holy Family Hospital in Greenville, Illinois. Sager began her career as a staff nurse at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital. Her genuine spirit and natural leadership abilities earned her subsequent roles as chief nursing officer at St. Anthony’s and later, chief nurse executive for HSHS Southern Illinois Division. “Lake Land College served as my first extension to higher education. It became the platform I used to begin to move my way into a nursing career. I had mentors that encouraged me to attend due to its great reputation for nursing programs,” Sager said. “Mrs. Thompson ran the programs at that time and she was very encouraging to all students. They were all tough so we could become the best professionals we could be. I remember her saying, ‘Nurses save lives. They heal − body and soul.’ What a great foundation for a lifelong career. I am proud to be an alumni!”
MARK McCULLY LAKER NATION CLASS OF 1992
McCully is the current CEO of the American Angus Association, one of the largest livestock associations in the world. In his previous position, McCully served as vice president for production at Certified Angus Beef, the most well-known branded meat program. “My time at Lake Land College was incredibly beneficial and impactful on my life,” McCully said. “Most importantly, Lake Land was where I met my wife, Gerry. Professionally, my involvement in the livestock judging team dramatically expanded my horizons of the livestock industry. This, coupled with various life skills developed through judging, set my career on the path I’ve been blessed with ever since. There were many staff and faculty that had a marked impact but probably most notable was Curt Rincker. He was a true mentor and saw more in me than I did in myself. I consider myself blessed to have had Curt in my life’s path.”

GRACE’S WISH

WHEN THE LAKE LAND COLLEGE
cheerleading team first heard from Make-A-Wish Co-grantor Beth Funneman about a young fan’s wish to meet the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, the Laker cheerleaders knew they had to get involved. At only eight years old, Grace Brummer of Dieterich has fought a rare form of cancer known as Langerhans cell histiocytosis the majority of her life. Throughout years of treatments, one thing that lifted her spirits time and time again was the Country Music Television network’s famed show, “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.” Wanting the reveal of her wish to be a monumental moment for Grace, the Laker cheer team invited area cheer squads to be involved including Teutopolis High School, Effingham Junior High School and Dieterich Jr./Sr. High School. In its entirety, more than 30 cheerleaders made up the squad. As a cheerleader for the Dieterich Junior High cheer team, Grace’s older sister was thrilled to be involved in revealing her sister’s wish.
As Grace’s sister was learning the routine, keeping the reveal from Grace was tricky. When she almost slipped details about an upcoming dance and cheer, Grace was quick to notice. “She’s lucky I didn’t ask ‘what dance and cheer?’” Grace said. The reveal came the evening of June 1 at the Effingham County Fairgrounds in Altamont preceding the Buckin’ for Wishes Rodeo, a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois.
When the routine was over and the reveal was made clear, every member of the squad was in tears. It was a night to remember for the cheerleaders and every audience member in the grandstand.
The cheer started off with a hint to the reveal with the cheerleaders sporting navy blue and silver T-shirts. With a smile from ear to ear, Grace watched the cheerleaders in awe as they lifted signs and shouted, “… the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are waiting for you!”
As for Grace, 2019 was one for the books. In early September, her wish took flight as she and her family flew out to Dallas, Texas to meet her favorite Cowboys stars. For nearly a week, Grace and her family were showered with love and gifts.
“When I heard that, I was really surprised!” Grace said.
“We were able to meet her favorite cheerleaders, KaShara and Maddie. Before and during the Sunday night game at the AT&T Stadium, we met the cheerleaders again, as well as the head coach of the Cowboys Jason Garrett and Jerry Jones’ daughter, Charlotte Jones-Anderson. Charlotte even took Grace by the hand and took her to the front-center of the field during the game opening performance for the best view in the stadium,” Grace’s mom, Beth Brummer, said. “Everyone we met was so friendly and down-to-earth. “This entire experience has left us all speechless.”

MICHAEL REYNOLDS INDUCTED INTO THE LAKER ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME MICHAEL REYNOLDS, Terre Haute, formerly of Effingham, knew from the moment he hit his first tennis ball at age six that he was going to be a tennis player. Coming from a family with a natural love for the sport, it’s no surprise that Reynolds has gone on to make tennis a way of life.

As a Lake Land College star athlete from 1987 to 1989, Reynolds played #1 singles and #1 doubles making his way to the quarterfinals in singles and the semifinals in doubles at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Championships. Off the court, Reynolds majored in secondary education before transferring to Eastern Illinois University to continue his education. After more than 20 years of coaching as the head pro at Wabash Valley Tennis Club, Reynolds has taught and coached nearly 100 tennis players who have received college scholarships at the NJCAA, NAIA and NCAA Division I, II and III levels. “I couldn’t have made a better choice than to play tennis for Lake Land College,” Reynolds said. “My experience on the court and in the classroom was an extremely positive one.”
FAVORITE LAKER MOMENT:
“My personal favorite was the day I won against Lewis and Clark Community College. It was 103 degrees that day with 40 miles per hour westerly winds and I was sick. Coach made me play even though my opponent was significantly better than me and all of nature was against me. But, that day I completely crushed him,” Reynolds said. “He did end up beating me later on in the season, but that day I had one of the best matches of my life.”

with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Nursing accelerates the time it takes a student to complete a bachelor’s degree of science in nursing. Lake Land College nursing students interested in this option are dually enrolled in the SIUE program their last year and can take several co-requisites and general education courses at Lake Land. “Our ADN program students are hard-working students. With the Lake Land College district being the size that it is and the constant demand for nurses, the majority of our students stay close to home and care for their local communities,” Cheryl Beam, nursing instructor/ director of nursing programs, said. “This program is a tremendous opportunity for local students who want to get started in the nursing field and later take advantage of advancement opportunities.” In May of 2019, more than 70% of Lake Land College ADN program graduates were employed as an RN by graduation. The program’s success rate, coupled with the unmatched value of tuition and fees, enables students to complete degree requirements while maintaining a steady track to further
education and a successful career. For these reasons, the online Nursing Explorer named Lake Land College’s nursing programs third in the state among 63 college programs.

NURSING IS A WORK OF HEART. ” Kaylee Nottmeyer, Laker Nation Class of 2019, expressed her thanks to the Lake Land College ADN program and the partnership with SIUE for giving her the opportunity to further her education toward a career that she truly loves. Upon graduating from Mattoon High School in 2016, Nottmeyer immediately made the choice to apply for the ADN program at Lake Land College. “My mom went to a community college and then received a BSN from SIUE when she was pregnant with me. It was kind of a full circle ending for me!” said Nottmeyer who comes from a family of nurses. Nottmeyer is currently working as a full-time RN at Sarah Bush Lincoln in the Emergency Room while taking classes at both Lake Land College and SIUE. “If you want to be surrounded by people who share the same passion, the Lake Land College Nursing program is the way to go. The instructors all strive to make only the best nurses and the transition to SIUE is super easy. The nursing staff at both schools are very approachable. They explain the entire process and set you up for success,” Nottmeyer said. Bethany Workman, Laker Nation Class of 2015, received her registered nursing license shortly after graduating from Lake Land College and was able to take advantage of tuition assistance at her workplace to complete the SIUE program.
“I took all of my SIUE classes online so I could work full-time at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital and stay living in my home town,” Workman said. “After I completed my BSN I enrolled in McKendree University right away and worked full-time at the hospital while going to school online full-time for a master’s degree.” Workman is planning on graduating in May 2020 and recently started a new job as the simulation lab coordinator for the nursing program at Lake Land College. Lake Land’s ADN program is a competitive Special Admission program, providing students with a rigorous two-year program of study. Fully-equipped nursing labs provide students with hands-on learning allowing students to master required skills before completing clinicals in area healthcare facilities. In addition to expecting the highest standards of clinical skills, Lake Land’s nursing instructors instill in the students the importance of the relationships with their patients. “The Lake Land College nursing program prepared me for the rest of my life. Once you are a nurse, you are a nurse to everyone. It is your job to care for your patients, but also your community. You become a first responder,” Nottmeyer said. “Lake Land College impacted my life by teaching me that nursing is knowing many skills, medications and tasks, but nursing is also so much more than just tasks. WHEN 3 P.M. ROLLED AROUND
on a typical school day, most Paris High School seniors were heading to practice, club meetings or work. However, for one student, late afternoon marked the beginning of a seven-hour college day. Jaden Kaufman devoted his senior year of high school to earning a college certificate that would allow him to launch his professional career upon graduation. Five days a week, Kaufman left high school and jumped in his car to drive the near hour to Lake Land College in Mattoon for five hours of class and hands-on training. “I knew that getting ahead in college before finishing high school could give me a lot of opportunities as I moved forward,” Kaufman said as he reflected on the decision to earn a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, better known as HVAC. “At first, I was very worried about how stressful the long classes would be, but after the first few weeks of classes I felt much calmer,” Kaufman said. “Although I was 17 when I started taking the classes, I was treated as an adult which made it a great learning environment. The lessons were hands-on, unlike most classes—we focused on truly learning about being HVAC technicians.” In May 2019, Kaufman graduated from both Paris High School and Lake Land College, armed with a certificate and the knowledge to succeed as a technician in the HVAC field. In the intensive one-year program, students focus on the skills needed to install, maintain and repair residential and commercial heating and air conditioning units.
In most of the HVAC classes, students work in teams to install heating or AC units or troubleshoot problems. Several companies recently donated industry-standard equipment to the program allowing Kaufman and his fellow students to have realistic field experience. “Since we spend a lot of time together working in teams and meeting each night, our class becomes a tight-knit group. Kaufman was definitely our youngest student age wise, but he fit right in with the group with his knowledge and ability to learn,” said Kris Kersey, industrial maintenance instructor/coordinator.
“I KNEW THAT GETTING AHEAD IN COLLEGE BEFORE FINISHING HIGH SCHOOL COULD GIVE ME A LOT OF OPPORTUNITIES AS I MOVED FORWARD.” Kaufman’s work experience also contributed to his success and good grades. Over the past two years, Kaufman spent his summers working at Jay’s Electrical Heating and Cooling, a local business owned by a family friend. Working alongside the business helped him decide what he wanted to do with his life and as he progressed, his successes helped him stay motivated. Upon graduating from high school and Lake Land College, Kaufman went on to work full-time as an HVAC technician for Jay’s Electrical Heating and Cooling in Paris, Illinois.

This opens up a lot of opportunities for me,” he said. “HVAC is a promising career.”
According to O*Net OnLine, HVAC mechanics and installers earn a minimum wage of $22.89 hourly and $47,610 yearly. The employment outlook is expected to grow 13% by 2026 in Illinois.

All I ever see in the news or on Facebook is that college graduates have tons of debt and student loans to pay. I want to go to Lake Land College because it is affordable, but I’m still worried about the cost. Are there any helpful tips or resources to help? Sincerely, DEBT-PHOBIC DEAR DEBT-PHOBIC, I waddle through campus on occasion and try to make my way to every office. Recently, I ended up in the new location for Financial Aid and Accounting in the Luther Student Center. While I was there, I learned a lot about paying for college as a Laker. It sounds like you already know that Lake Land is one of the best deals around! A full year costs about $4,110 in tuition and fees, compared to a university that has a tuition and fee rate of about $13,000 if you live at home. Tack on another $10,000 if you will be staying in a dorm. The Financial Aid staff asked me if I had already filled out my FAFSA. I said, “My what?” Turns out this is the federal government’s form to request financial aid or a loan. That’s where all students have to start – fafsa.gov. THEN... they asked me if I filled out the Lake Land College Foundation scholarship application. My wings were flapping when I heard the word “scholarship.” They told me to make sure I had my Intent to Enroll or application in for fall 2020 and then look in my Laker Hub portal for the Foundation Scholarship application. AND, if that wasn’t enough helpful info – they told me I could also use the Nelnet Payment Plan to spread my payments out over the entire semester. That sounds like a great option if I do not get any financial aid or don’t want to take out a loan. I hear a lot of my fellow Lakers work while they go to school. They are so awesome!!
As I was about to head out for some fly time, the Lake Land staff reminded me to tell my fellow ducks that if they are in high school and earn excellent grades that land them in the top 15% of their class, or they get a quackin’ 26 on the ACT or 1230 on the SAT, they are eligible for a Presidential Scholarship. Holy wingspans folks! That means their tuition costs would be covered for two years. I know this is a lot of information to take in, so fly by the college’s website and click on the Paying for College menu tab where you will find a flock of helpful information! Sincerely,

I’m a senior in high school and I’m trying to enjoy the last few months I have with my friends. I know I’m going to college, but that won’t be until the fall of 2020. People keep telling me I need to apply to the colleges I’m interested in now, but I don’t see what the rush is. If I’ve already decided on Lake Land College for my first two years, should I be applying now?
The other three main things I recommend you do are 1. Fill out the Laker Profile and then submit the Intent to Enroll, which is the college application. There’s no fee involved. 2. Complete the FAFSA to make sure you are in line for financial aid or loans. 3. Submit the Lake Land College Foundation Scholarship application. Once you have these things in order, there’s just a few more items on your checklist. 1. Send your ACT or SAT scores to us by going to act.org or collegeboard.org and 2. Once you graduate, send your high school transcript our way. Then, all you have to do is watch your mailbox for your letter inviting you to online New Student Orientation. You’ll get all the great tips on starting out as a Laker. Once the modules are completed, you’ll schedule an Advising and Registration Day with Counseling Services. That’s when you’ll discuss your schedule and register for classes. Although applying to college can seem like a daunting task, you are smart to get started now. Being a sitting duck is never any fun. (CBI) Manufacturing Skills Lab offers students and community members several ways to improve upon career-specific skills needed to excel in the workplace. Courses cover topics ranging from basic manufacturing skills to safely working with and troubleshooting electrical systems to learning the skills required to safely install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems. LSC Communications’ Lead Electronics Technician Eric Eveland, Mattoon and Facilities Manager for the Evapco, Inc. Midwest operations David Blecha, know firsthand the benefits of taking maintenance technician skills courses through the Manufacturing Skills Lab. “I have lived in Mattoon all of my life and have worked at RR Donnelley/LSC Communications since 1985. I was a full-time employee of RR Donnelley/LSC Communications when I took my first course, Applied Industrial Electricity, in 2012. The reason behind taking the course was that I was trying to get into the electrical field,” Eveland said. “Shortly after taking the course I was offered a position as an electrical technician 2 at my company.” Noticing the importance of the hands-on experience he received and the opportunities the course provided him with, Eveland continued to advance his skills. Two years later, he took the Electronic Drives and Logix5000 PLC Level 1 course. “Randy Strohl was a pleasure to work with and I really enjoyed the hands-on learning. The instructors have a vast knowledge in the
electronics field and are able to share their expertise in a way that is easy to understand,” Eveland said. “For me, the Manufacturing Skills Lab was the launching pad for a new career that I thoroughly enjoy. I can’t imagine doing anything else. Thanks to Randy and CBI, I have had a fulfilling career that is both challenging and rewarding.” Courses available through the Manufacturing Skills Lab have impacted several local residents throughout the years, as well as professionals from across the United States.

Now, as facilities manager for the Evapco, Inc. Midwest operations, including the Greenup and Newton campuses, Blecha recognizes the importance for technicians to utilize the Manufacturing Skills Lab. “The Manufacturing Skills Lab has impacted our operations in a multitude of ways. Primarily as the leader of our Reliable Capacity team and in the identification of job skill needs for our technicians–the lab provides the necessary ‘classroom’ for technicians to gain the knowledge to be successful in safely maintaining and troubleshooting production

asset systems. This is especially important for our operations as we continue to strive for zero unplanned downtime in our production operations,” Blecha said. Blecha’s support and dedication to utilizing opportunities for his technicians continues to provide hard working individuals with the ability to improve upon necessary skills without cutting into work time or financial obligations. “There are many things that are attractive about the Manufacturing Skills Lab. The first one is the location in proximity to our facility, tied with the course schedule. It compliments the learning/ working efforts and it provides the learning needed to further skill development without eliminating the opportunity to earn the money necessary for financial support to families,” Blecha said. “The second is that the technology and skills development is paralleled with the needs in industry. “There is also some excellent popcorn that is produced from the Automatic Manufacturing Cell so there can be a celebration of achievement!” Blecha added. The high standards of training and evaluation provided through the Manufacturing Skills Lab ensure students and community members have the resources to improve their lives and be successful.
