Team Clinic Organization

Intro to Team CO

Our Four Sub-Committees: ● Animal Sourcing ● Inventory Management and Biosecurity ● Supply Management ● Clinic Cleaning and Clinic Duty


Animal Sourcing Committee Mercedes Porteous, Heidi Silver, Gabby Foerster


Committee Goals

● Scheduling as early as possible ● Sufficient & timely care of animals daily ● Patient recovery process ● Care of college animals


Kennel Care Scheduling

● First semester: 2nd year kennel care scheduling ● Second semester: 1st & 2nd year scheduling ● Weekly emails to kennel care students to update on incoming patients


Call Backs

● Weekly phone calls to SPCA’s and student owners ● Check in on the animals to ensure they are recovering ● To answer any questions from SPCA staff or owners


Student Owned Animals

● Sign-up sheet for students to volunteer their animals for labs ● Have available animals if SPCA’s aren’t able to volunteer patients ● Prevents animals from participating in multiple labs


College Animal Care

Sheep SMF and Barn Cat SOP’s: ● Nutrition ● Health checks ● Deworming/ Vaccinations


Recommendations

● Put out schedules on time ● Keeping college animals healthy and up to date ● New ideas to keep the clinic current


Inventory Management and Biosecurity Committee

Inventory Management

Our responsibility to do an inventory count throughout the whole clinic and log it into Avimark, a minimum of 3 times a year, once in September, January and March.

Biosecurity

Our responsibility to promote sanitation and hygiene practices throughout the clinic

Goals and Accomplishments: ● Boot baths maintenance and deep clean ● Proposal for hand sanitizer ● Sanitation posters ● Prepare for outbreaks

Challenges: ● Disinfection of cat play room ● Proper sanitation ● Enforcement of proper use of boot baths

Suggestions/ Recommendations: ● Meet and collaborate with SMF teams ● Proposal to find more suitable boot baths for smaller rooms ● Coordinate with lab schedules

Our Role

● Keeping the pharmacy stocked and organized ● Order drugs and supplies for the clinic and SMF ● Placing, receiving and unpacking orders

Goals

â—? Having orders fulfilled and unpacked in a timely manner â—? Establishing a good relationship with the Ed lab techs and SMF teams


Recommendations

● Expanding our roles ○ Adding new stock into Avimark as we order ● Provide SMF with a list of supplies that can be ordered for them ● Keep track of product numbers for future ordering


Clinic Cleaning and Clinic Duty Committee Kalyn Andrich, Kacie Duckett, Meisha Antonenko


Goals:

Clinic Cleaning

● Create task lists for each room in clinic ● Create weekly or bi-weekly schedule for clinic cleaning ● Clinic cleaning will be done every friday


Clinic Cleaning

Recommendations: â—? Try not to interfere with class schedules when scheduling â—? Aim to have enough students so it will take approx. 1 hour


Goals:

Clinic Duty

● Create clinic duty schedule ● One second year AHT and 3-4 first year AHTs/VMAs ● Check clinic duty binders to ensure tasks are being completed properly


Quality Control

Goals: ● Maintaining standards in products and equipment ● Creation of mandatory QC schedule for Team CO to complete ● Autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaner, soda lime and X-ray plates



Horse Care Schedule

Goals: ● Provide our schooling horses with appropriate care ● Aim to be done at least once every 2 weeks ● Involve 1st and 2nd year AHTs and VMAs



Recommendations

● Finish scheduling within the first week of 1st semester ● Be in contact with your faculty advisor over break to schedule second semester ● Divide work evenly and fairly between students
