COVID-19 CLASSROOM SAFETY PROCEDURE General Statement At Lakeland, the health and safety of our community is our top priority. COVID-19 safety procedures have been created to ensure fair and consistent processes are established to support employees and students as they continue to work and learn on campus.

Classroom Guidelines Overview • This procedure outlines practices to implement for classroom safety. Academic schools have also developed operating guidelines specific to their areas. For more information, email covid19@lakelandcollege.ca. • This procedure will be updated as needed. Visit lakelandcollege.ca/covid19 for current information. • Updated: September 29, 2020

Symptoms - self monitor • Before leaving home and entering campus, all employees and students are required to complete the Daily Assessment Tool available at lakelandcollege.ca/covid19 and on the Lakeland app, Lakeland Safe app and other platforms. • To support public health COVID-19 contact tracing efforts, instructors will keep daily attendance lists for in-person classes. Records should only be kept for 2 weeks and can only be used for COVID-19 contact tracing.

Physical distancing/PPE • Physical distancing of 2 metres from other people must be maintained • 3-ply face coverings must be worn by students during in-person classroom lectures. During in-person classes, instructors are strongly encouraged to continue wearing a 3-ply face-covering where possible. If an instructor finds a face cover impedes their ability to teach or a student’s ability to understand them, a face shield without a face covering may be used. However, a face shield is permitted only when instructing at the front of the class while more than 2 metres from others. A face shield is not a substitute for a face covering. If the instructor moves from the front of the class to assist students, a 3-ply face covering must be worn. • Disposable gloves can be made available for hands-on activities • Rooms rearranged for physical distancing and to accommodate COVID-19 capacity restrictions. Capacities available at lakelandcollege.ca/covid19

Cleaning and sanitation • Hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies will be available in each classroom • Students/Faculty to disinfect work areas at the beginning and end of class • Faculty to wipe door handles upon exiting classroom • Do not share personal items such as pens, pencils, calculators, notebooks • Wash hands/use hand sanitizer before and after handling objects used in teaching

Classroom access • Doors should remain closed in between classes • Classrooms with one door: § Students must exit in a staggered and orderly manner, following 2 metre protocol to prevent crowding around exits § Students waiting must maintain spacing protocols
