ENCLOSED FLYERS Membership Directory Update
Thanks to the overwhelming vote of a concerned Membership, the two hundred and forty feet of waterfront property immediately adjacent to Club Beach on Lake Naomi has been reserved for Club Member use forever. Two-thirds of all Club Members cast their ballots on this matter and ninety-two percent of the Members voting voted in favor of preserving this property for current and future generations of Club Members. Thank you to all of the Members who took the time to read the materials and cast their vote. With the vote in hand, the Club closed on the purchase of the property on May 30th. Work began immediately on Phase One of the “Park at Club Beach” Project. Phase One includes the removal of dead and dangerous trees, the relocation of utilities, the dismantling and removal of the house and some limited landscaping. This initial phase of work on the Park Property will be completed prior to the end of June and the next phase of the project will not start until after Columbus Day in order that Members will be able to enjoy the new Park at Club Beach uninterrupted for the balance of the 2012 Season. On the radar screen for over twenty-five years, the acquisition of this waterfront property represents a real milestone in the Club’s History. Phase Two of the project will be completed prior to the 2013 season, just in time for the Club’s fiftieth anniversary celebration.
Club Continues to Move Forward
While it runs quite contrary to what would seem to many to be the way to proceed during these challenging economic times, the Clubs and Planned Communities that are thriving across the United States are the ones that are reinvesting in themselves. The current feeling from the industry experts is that if a Club or Planned Community is not moving forward, it is actually moving backwards. Standing still is not an option for Clubs and Planned Communities. But the reinvestment can’t be random, it needs to be planned. That is why the Club has been moving the Strategic Planning Process forward and why the Long Range Planning Committee is in the process of updating the Club’s Long Range Facilities Master Plan. The planning process takes into consideration what will improve the lifestyle and property values for the Existing Members, while at the same time planning for Future Members. Preparing for and having Future Members is of prime importance in the long term success of Clubs and Planned Communities. The nice thing at Lake Naomi – Timber Trails is that the Members have the final say. Thanks to the very strong support received from Club Members, the Lake Naomi Club has made significant strides in just the last two years with the addition of the Boat House Café, Boat House Deck, Duster Bar and Parking at Club Beach and the Lake Naomi Clubhouse; the purchase, renovation and reopening of the Mountaintop Lodge and the Mountaintop Lodge Coffee and Pastry Shop and most recently the purchase of two hundred and forty feet of water frontage and the development of the Park at Club Beach. Stay tuned as the Club celebrates the first fifty years and continues to move forward by planning for the next fifty years.

Welcome Fido! One comment that was made several times on the LNC Member Survey was to permit dogs on the Community Center Leisure Trail. Your voice was heard now LNC members can enjoy the CC Leisure Trail with their pets. We ask that your pet remain on a leash while walking the trail. Please refer to the guidelines in the Leisure Service Guide listed under DOG PARK. We also ask that you prepare for the call of nature and be prepared to clean up after your pet. To keep everyone safe and secure Fido is not permitted on the Community Center Grounds just the Leisure Trail.

Contractor Insurance Alert While a million dollars in insurance may seem like a lot of coverage, in today’s world it really isn’t very much coverage. When a Property Owner hires a Contractor that does not have the proper amount of liability, vehicle and/or workers compensation insurance (or many times no insurance at all), if someone is hurt on your property, including the Contractor, the liability falls back on the Property Owner. The recommendation from the Club’s Risk Management Specialist is that Property Owners require all of their Contractors to have a minimum of three million dollars in insurance coverage and to verify that coverage. For help indentifying contractors who have successfully completed projects in Lake Naomi-Timber Trails in the past, contact Association Manager/Architectural Inspector Wendi Freeman by email at wfreeman@lakenaomiclub.com or by telephone at 570-646-9191, extension 107.

Are you on Schedule with the Membership ID Picture Retake? When the Club instituted the Membership Picture ID’s a picture retake schedule was developed so that your picture will be updated every four years. Children can choose to have their pictures retaken more often. It is important to keep your picture current so that no confusion will occur at any of the amenities. ID badges are now scanned at the amenities and your picture will be displayed on the monitor so it is even more important to keep your picture current. The Club encourages Members with last names starting with R through Z to stop by the Administrative Office to have your picture retaken at your convenience. To avoid delays in picking up your 2013 Membership ID Cards, have your picture retaken this summer. All Members with last names starting with A-Q who have not had their pictures retaken are requested to stop in the Administrative Office as soon as possible. Please remember the importance of carrying your ID badge with you at all times. The summer season brings in many new faces and all Team Members are instructed to check badges. Please do not be insulted to show your badge.

Clubhouse Reservations and Member IDs Dining at the LNCH has grown in popularity this past year and will continue to do so throughout the season. This is attributed to the great job the Clubhouse Staff is doing both in the kitchen and in the dining areas. With this in mind, please be advised to make your reservations early so that you receive the desired time. Also understand that only a certain number of reservations can be taken for each time slot so there may be occasions when your preferred time is unavailable. The Club does not take reservations for the Grillroom or the Outdoor Deck, and there is frequently a waiting list for these areas. Also remember that there is a dress code in the Clubhouse; Members are encouraged to refer to page 36 of the 2012 Leisure Service Guide for additional guidelines. As at all of the other Lake Naomi - Timber Trails amenities, the LNCH will be checking Membership Identification Cards before you are seated, so please help us in helping you to keep the Lake Naomi Club private. Your understanding is appreciated.

You should be aware of the Dram Shop Law, which puts the liability directly on the server of alcohol beverages if an intoxicated individual causes damage, injury or death as a result of having too much to drink. Mountaintop Lodge Update
By now all of you have heard about the Lodge and many of you have seen and visited this wonderful facility. It is truly a complement to our Platinum Club and should serve us well for many years to come. We congratulate our Management Team for completing this facility in such a timely and professional manner. The Lodge Task Force (LTF) has worked with the Management Team in the planning and implementation of Lodge operations. You will find the Lodge Operational Plan on our website. This is a working document and will be modified as the LTF, Committees and Boards and Management gain more experience with the day-to-day operations. There are two items to report about Lodge finances: Additional Costs The cost to purchase and complete the Lodge was about $156,000 more than the anticipated amount of $695,000. As reported to you with the ballot, we provided contingency funds for repair of the Lodge from the sale of the condominium we own and use for staff housing. Although it has not been sold as of this date, we believe it should net us about $70,000. Savings in development costs of the new parking lot project will provide an additional $11,000. The remaining $75,000 will be funded from our Capital Enhancement Fund. The net result is that there will not be a need for a Member assessment. Should the condominium sale net less than $70,000, the difference will also be funded from the CE Fund. The additional costs were incurred for the following reasons: The condition of the Lodge when the bank finally sold us the mortgage (after considerable delay) was in much worse condition than we thought. Significant mold had developed and the plumbing and electrical systems were in deplorable shape. Two plumbers that gave us an estimate to repair the plumbing subsequently walked off the job when they saw what was involved. Management had anticipated some of these issues and they were able to negotiate a $50,000 reduction in the purchase price from the bank. However, we were not able to completely inspect the facility prior to its purchase due to the lack of electricity and limited access. ($57k) The Township required us to construct a ramp and parking spaces for access by the disabled. Member response to this addition has been very positive. ($19k) The Lodge needed to be completed by May 1st in order to commence marketing and reservation programs and to provide housing for the international staff and other interns arriving for the season. In order to meet this date, it was necessary to hire outside contractors. LNC staff performed most of the renovation work during the “off season”. ($19k) The LTF and Management decided to upgrade certain improvements so that the Lodge would meet the high “Platinum” standards of our Club. This included upgrading the furniture and fixtures in the downstairs and guest room, bathrooms and providing an outstanding coffee/pastry shop facility as a profit center. The coffee/pastry shop has opened to much acclaim and has averaged revenues of $400 per day from April 30th through May 28th. ($61k) The LTF believes that anyone visiting the Lodge will say that the result was well worth the additional cost to achieve it. Projected Profits Our original projection of 2013 Lodge operating profit, before the savings in staff housing, was $49,000. We are now projecting that the operating profit will be approximately $80,000, or an increase of $31,000 for the year. It was also decided to reserve 3 guest rooms in the Lodge for rental this summer rather than use them for housing our staff. These rooms will be used primarily for Member guests and will increase revenues for this season. The reaction of those guests who have stayed at the Lodge has been very positive with most of them stating that they would stay again in the future. Should you have any questions or comments pertaining to the above, please do not hesitate to call Tim Brooks at 570-646-8585, ext. 103 Lodge Task Force

Camelbeach Vouchers
Camelbeach vouchers will be available at the community center for a discounted rate of $32 as of June 23, 2012. This is a general admission pass for the water park and is not refundable. Please call ahead (570-646-8585) if you will be purchasing vouchers so that we can expedite the transaction in an efficient manner.
Night Recreation – 2012
Night Recreation is an opportunity for young Members and guests going into the third grade and above to come to the Community Center to meet friends and have fun participating in staff supervised activities. This summer the Night Recreation Program will be run the same as last summer. Instead of signing into a program, participants will be free to come and go as they please. The Shuttle Bus (Red Route) will run every hour and can pick up or drop off the participants. Recreation staff will be on hand for a variety of games and activities. Night Recreation will be held every week Monday through Friday from June 25th through August 24th. The game room, multi-purpose room, mezzanine area, outdoor pavilion, outdoor fields and some activity rooms will be available for participants. We have had a few questions about this change of programs last summer: Will my child be unsupervised? The Recreation staff will supervise the building to maintain activities and keep it a safe place to hang out but it will be up to you and your child to decide the limits you want to place on them. Your child may leave the building or arrive at the building at anytime. Make sure they know your expectations as to when they have to go home, who they can leave with and what you feel is acceptable behavior. How will you keep activities age appropriate? Each night activities will be offered, some will be for all ages and some will be limited to certain age groups to allow the kids to be age appropriate and do activities with their own age groups. Will my child just be dropped off by the bus at anytime? The Night Recreation Bus will begin its rounds following the red route schedule at 5:00 PM and will continue to drive that route until the last one leaves the Community Center at 10:00 PM. You can check the schedule in the Summer Calendar to see the approximate time the bus will be at your stop. We will do our best to stay on schedule with the exception of the last run when we only stop at the locations we have participants to drop off (so it runs a little faster). Counselors will be on the bus and the drivers will not abandon children on a dark corner. They will talk to the child if they feel uncomfortable with the situation to make sure we are following the parents’ wishes. Once again it will require that parents communicate with your children so they know if they are supposed to call before they get on the bus, can walk home alone or get off the bus at “Johnny’s house”. If you have questions or concerns over the Night Recreation Program please give Tim Brooks a call at the Community Center (570)646-8585 or email at tbrooks@ lakenaomiclub.com.
Swim Team Registration Pool Members between the ages of 6 and 18 are invited to participate in the exciting swim team program. Registration information will be distributed at this meeting. If you are preregistering online we ask that you still attend the meeting to meet the coaches and be briefed on the season. Packets will also be available during the regular practice times the first week of the season. ALL SWIMMERS must be registered by July 6th to be a part of this season’s team. Often times, when you hit that frustrating shot way right, it is not your fault! Or your swings fault! It’s the improper clubs that you bought off the shelf at Dick’s Sporting Goods or Golf Galaxy. Using poorly fitted or non-fitted clubs is one of the most common mistakes of amateur golfers. It is incredibly important to be wary of the clubs you are buying. There are many websites these days that will sell counterfeit clubs at marked down prices. These clubs are generally made overseas by unauthorized manufacturers. It is important that you inquire any purchase with a PGA professional before ordering any new clubs. The other common mistake is people use the wrong shaft flex, loft and lie angles. Many people will simply go out and buy the stiff shaft because they hear that it will add yards to their game. When playing with a golf club that is too stiff, the player feels like they are working too hard to swing the golf club. They would be better suited with a softer shaft. It is of the utmost importance that you get fitted for new clubs. This will maximize your ability and also maximize your enjoyment for the game!!!
Swing Shop
As we all know, summer storms can blow up on us in a hurry when we are on the golf course. To help keep everyone safe and dry the golf pro shop will sound an air horn to advise golfers of inclement weather. The staff will blow three long blasts with the air horn as an advisory to leave the course due to incoming bad weather. This includes rain, thunder, lightning and high winds. On Tee Box #6 is a Lightning-Rain Shelter for your safety if you get caught in a storm.
Golf Notes
The Memorial Day Weekend brought some exciting golf with the beautiful weather. In our annual Memorial Day Putting Tournament Doug Klem captured the prestigious championship with Tom Rosser finishing a close second. On the ladies side Marge Brennan was the champion. The Junior Putting Champion was Bobby Rigby, followed by Kyle Brady. In the Memorial Day Weekend Tournament Bob Rigby captured the title on the men’s side, with Rich Demarsico placing second and Eric Drath taking third. On the ladies side Gina Timmermans was the winner, with Rosalie Manginelli placing second. In the Junior Flight Bobby Rigby was the victor, completing his sweep of the day. Kyle Brady was second. There has been three hole in ones this year at Timber Trails Golf Course. Chris Ednie, Gary Lenderink and Michael Mullin all have aced the second hole. Some upcoming events are the Couples Shootout on Sunday, June 24th. There is a ten team limit, so please sign up early to assure your spot. The popular Parent/Grandparent – Child Tournament will be held Saturday, July 7th with a 3:00 PM shotgun start preceded by a luncheon from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. The Summer Bloody Mary Tournament will be on Sunday, July 15th. The Member/Member –Member/Guest is Saturday July 21st. This year the tournament will be a 9 hole better Ball of Partners. We will start with a 3:00 PM shotgun start followed by a barbeque. Thursday, July 26th is the date for the highly anticipated Breast Cancer Rally. There will be three shotgun starts: 8:00 AM, 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM. This will permit the maximum amount of players to participate. If we all pitch in this can be the most successful Breast Cancer Rally yet!! The adult golf clinic will begin on Wednesday, June 13th at 3:00 PM and will last for one hour. The cost is $10.00 per student. The first class will focus on the short game where chipping and putting will be discussed. The class size is limited to 8 students and all skill level players are welcome. The junior clinics will start on Thursday, July 5th. There are three different sessions based on age. The 5 to 9 year old session is 4:15 - 5:15 PM, the 10 to 12 year old session is 5:15 - 6:15 PM and the 13 to 17 year old session is 6:15 - 7:15 PM. There are limited spots available so sign up your youngster and introduce them to the game of a lifetime. All juniors will need to obey the Timber Trails Golf Club dress code. There is new apparel featured in the Golf shop this year. Oakley, Nike and Monterey Club are just a few of the new clothing lines that will be offered. Oakley sunglasses and golf shoes are also in stock. A wide variety of sand wedges, putters and demo Cleveland drivers will be on hand for players to try. The technology of golf equipment is always improving. Come out and see for yourself what one of the hottest drivers in golf can do for your game. The Golf Superintendent Todd Moyer and his staff have done a great job in getting the golf course in impeccable condition. All members should do their part in taking care of the golf course by replacing divots, fixing ball marks, raking bunkers and tapping sand off of your golf shoes before walking on the green. These simple tasks are essential in maintaining a well manicured course. Trivia question - What college did Champions tour player Tom Watson attend? Email your response to golf@lakenaomiclub.com or call the Timber Trails Golf Club at 570, 646-9060. See you on the Links! PGA Golf Professional Bob Millard

Dog And Pet Responsibility Lake Naomi Rules and Regulations and Pennsylvania State Laws require that all pets be on their owner’s property or under the control of their owners at all times. Timber Trails has made that language even stronger by adding that all pets must be on a leash no longer than eight feet while on community property. Under no circumstances are pets permitted to run at large. In addition, it is requested that barking dogs be kept inside at all times. Pets are not permitted at any of the Lake Naomi-Timber Trails Recreation Facilities including the beaches. There two exceptions the Dog Park located at the entrance to the Community Center and the Leisure Trail around the CC. Please be a responsible pet owner and be considerate of your neighbors and fellow Club Members and clean up after your pet. This will assure a pleasant experience for Members and their beloved pets as well.
Share the Road Walking and bike riding are two of the more popular activities that people do in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails. Although these activities can be very safe, extra caution should be used. Tobyhanna Township has installed an extensive storm water management system in Lake Naomi. This system includes many roadside trenches and water detention areas. PLEASE BE EXTRA CAREFUL WHEN WALKING OR BIKING! The Lake Naomi-Timber Trails Ranger Staff would like everyone to follow these safety tips. 1. When walking always walk on the left side of the road. 2. Bikes ride on the right side of the road, with traffic. 3. Walkers, walk in single file when traffic approaches. 4. Bike riders should always wear helmets. State law requires children 12 and under to wear a helmet. The Rangers strongly recommend that all bike riders wear a helmet. 5. Most important: all drivers should slow down. Drive as if the lives of your children or grandchildren depend on it.

DES Outreach Tennis Program at LNC
Over the past three years, with Anitia Scarperia’s leadership, several members of the Lake Naomi Club have had the unique opportunity and the most gratifying experience in a tennis activity with physically challenged young adults from the Developmental Educational Services (DES) program in Stroudsburg. Until this year DES had been able to secure tennis facilities in the Stroudsburg area where LNC Members traveled several times a year to engage in this activity. The Club became more involved when it offered the Community Center tennis courts, Santa Claus and a small party for this group the past two Christmas seasons. When it became apparent that the DES did not have a facility to continue this program, Club Members approached Management with a request to use the outdoor courts on Naomi Ave. for one hour several times a year. As part of its outreach program, the Club responded affirmatively. The first of these sessions was held on June 6th with five Club Members leading the tennis activity for 12 participants on a beautiful day. Most of our visitors recalled the hitting skills they learned previously and were excited and pleased to return to the courts as seen in their eyes and expressions. Members who participated also were elated and gratified to see the simple yet rewarding and exciting accomplishments each young adult achieved. The next session is tentatively scheduled for June 28th.
Community Center Guest Fees
The intent of the membership and guest policies are to provide fair and equitable use of the Club facilities to all rightful Members and their guests. Members are required to accompany and introduce their guest when using the facilities. Please refer to your Leisure Service Guide for further details. The guest fee for adults (19 and over) remains at $10.00. The guest fee for adults (19 and over) arriving at the Community Center after 6:00 PM (or 4 hours before closing time) will be $5.00. The guest fee for youth (between the ages of 4 and 18) will be $5.00 at all times. There is never a guest fee for children 3 and under. If a guest fee is paid at the Lake Naomi or Timber Trails Pool and then the guest desires to move to the Community Center on the same day, only the difference equal to the Community Center Guest Fee must be paid.
Storm Policy
It is the policy of the Lake Naomi Club to “temporarily” close outdoor recreational areas and the LSCC Indoor Aquatic Areas during severe storm conditions. The standard followed is to keep areas cleared for a minimum of fifteen minutes after thunder is last heard and thirty minutes after lightning is last spotted. Please respect the facility supervisors who are looking out for your best interest. They will ask you to clear the tennis courts, golf course, pool decks and beaches and Duster Bar for your safety. Lightening has struck the LN-TT facilities in the past and all precautions are taken to avoid life threatening conditions.
Guest Privileges
One of the great features with Membership to the Lake Naomi Club is the privilege that Members have in extending their Membership to their Guests. The Membership Marketing Committee would like to remind all Members of the Guest Policy. As stated on page 20 in the 2012 Leisure Service Guide. Privileges are extended to Member’s Guests when they are visiting the Member at Lake Naomi-Timber Trails. Members are required to accompany and introduce their Guests when they are making use of the Club facilities. Appropriate Guest Fees and limits (see Pool, Tennis, Golf, and Community Center in the 2012 Leisure Service Guide) must be respected. No individual may be a Guest at any facility more than ten (10) times in one Membership (calendar) Year without the approval of the Board of Trustees. The only exception is the Community Center where an individual is permitted to be a Guest up to twenty (20) times in one Membership (calendar) Year. Property Owners in Lake Naomi and Timber Trails who choose not to join the Club or who choose not to join one of the optional facilities are not eligible to be a Guest at any facility in Lake Naomi or Timber Trails. This limitation includes Special Events. The intent of these membership and guest policies is to provide fair and equitable use of the Club facilities to all rightful Members and their guests. Requests for special exceptions not covered by these guidelines should be submitted in writing to the Administrative Office. “Remember as Members of the Lake Naomi Club it is our responsibility to observe this Guest Policy when inviting or sponsoring guests.” Membership/Marketing Committee 12
Lake Naomi Club Q & A What happened to the wood from the trees that were removed from the new Park? The wood from the dead and dangerous trees that were removed from the Park at Club Beach was recycled to a local saw mill. The Club makes every effort to recycle the wood whenever it removes trees for a project in order to avoid other trees from having to be harvested to provide wood for homes, furniture and the like. Why is the Club replacing the ramp to the Duster Bar? The Township’s third party inspection service feels that that Club facilities are governed by ADA regulations. Management, Legal Council and the Club industry disagree. However it would cost more to fight this than it does to comply and the overall feeling is that Private clubs will ultimately be subjected to the ADA regulations in the future. Plus it is the right thing to do. Based on this thinking the Club will be installing a ramp to the bar that meets ADA requirements and will also be installing a small area of lower counter at the end of the bar. These adjustments should be completed prior to June 23rd and will be covered as part of the repairs and maintenance budget (the Club will be reusing a portion of the materials from the existing ramp). I have seen motor boats on Lake Naomi. I thought they weren’t permitted? The Club owns four Boston Whaler Patrol Boats. At the height of the boating season, a maximum of three of the Safety Boats are in use. The Club also owns a gas powered Pontoon boat used as the Race Committee boat for sailing races. These are the only gasoline powered motor boats permitted on Lake Naomi. What are the pontoon boats I have seen on Lake Naomi? The Club owns two pontoon boats. One is moored off of Club Beach and utilized by the Sailing Committee to organize and direct the sailing races. This pontoon boat is also utilized by Club Team Members to assist with the sailing instruction program. The second Club owned pontoon boat is stored at the Floating Marina located at the Administrative Office and is powered by an electric motor. It is utilized by the Lakes Committee for their fishing instructional program as well as for the placement of fish habitat in the Lake.
