We are happy to announce that the Members Section of the website will be launched early April. We will send out an eblast telling everyone when we officially go live. Once the site is deployed when you click on the Member Login you will see a new login in screen asking for your Member number. Here you will enter your LNC membership number, as printed on your membership card, for both your Member Number and Password. Once your membership number has been verified you will be asked to create your own password. The primary member of the account will be asked to enter a credit card for the member charge privilege which can be found under My Profile/My Account. For more information see Member Charge Privilege article on page two. Take a few minutes to navigate through the new website. Make sure to view your account information by clicking on My Profile. If your mailing address, email address, or phone number changes you can make the change on the website and it will automatically be added to the Club’s database. You will no longer need to notify the Administrative Office with your changes. Also listed under My Profile at the bottom of your Profile Page is the Club’s E-Groups list that you can sign up for to receive additional information from that group. There is also a new way to sign up for Events. You can select the event from the listing of the upcoming events listed on the Home page or go to the Club Events Calendar listed on the top of the page. Find the event listed on the calendar and click on the event. A small window will open listing the details. To sign up for the event you will then click on View Details. In this new window you can click on the arrow in the Member box and select your name. Once you select a name you will see a new field to Add More Guest/Member, here you can choose additional members from your membership or enter the name of your guest. Once you have added everyone to your reservation you then click on Add to Cart, you can review your information and then select Proceed to Check Out. On this screen you have the two types of payments, credit card or member charge. You can pay directly to your credit card as you have done in the past for event sign up, or you can have the event payment added to your Member Charge Account. The other exciting change is the online Membership Directory. The Club has decided to no longer print the Membership Directory (green binder) since there are so many changes and the online directory will be current. Just like the printed directory you need to opt in for the online directory. To do this go to My Profile/My Roster Settings and on the right side of the page you will see Configure Member’s Roster Profile Setting, here you should uncheck Hide Profile. You can also choose what information you want to show in the Members Directory. It is that easy!
Grand Opening Celebration Work is wrapping up on Phase Two of the Horizon Plan! The Management Team is making plans for a Grand Opening Celebration for Memorial Day Weekend. Keep your eyes open for more information!

Member Charge Privilege Members can dine, purchase apparel, pay for lessons or sign up for a special function and choose to have the payment charged to their membership account. In order to take advantage of the Member charge privilege, Members must first sign into their account in the Members’ Section (a secure member portal) of the website and under My Profile add a credit card to their account. This information goes directly to the credit card company that issues a “token” to the Club. The Club does not store any actual credit card information. Any member who is listed on the membership is eligible to be given permission to charge to that account. The Primary Member also has the ability to set daily or overall spending limits for their dependents. The Dependent Spending form can be found under My Profile/My Account. Members can check their statement and recent charges online also under My Profile/My Account. If there is a question about a charge, the Member is encouraged to contact the Administration Office to help clarify the charge. At the end of each month the Member will receive an emailed statement that outlines the charges for the month. The Member will have 20 days in which to pay online, send in payment, or make a payment at the Administration Office. If after 25 days a payment has not been received the Club will automatically charge the credit card on file the balance of the statement. The Member can sign up to receive paper statements at the Administration Office. A Membership Card will be required at the time of purchase. Please note that Members may also continue to pay at the amenities via credit card or LNC stored value cards. The only form of payment not accepted is cash.
Carry Your 2017 Membership Card We are often asked why it is so important for Members to have their Membership Identification Cards on their person while using the Club facilities. The easiest answer is that it allows the staff to ensure that only bona fide Members are using the facilities but the card also provides other functions as well. The Board of Governors, Board of Trustees, and Management use the information gathered from the “swiping in” at various amenities to help ensure that the Club is operating as efficiently as possible. It permits the Club to see how many Members are using facilities and at what times so our staffing and hours of operation can best accommodate the needs of the Members. All Members are reminded that 2017 Membership Identification Cards will be required to access facilities starting May 1st. Membership Cards will be needed to access the Timber Trails Golf Course beginning April 14th. Cards are included in the Membership Packets available at the Administrative Office to all paid Members beginning April 7th. Please help us maintain a Platinum Club experience by having your card available.

A Schützenfest (German "marksmen's festival") is a traditional festival or fair featuring a target shooting competition in the cultures of both Germany and Switzerland. At a Schützenfest, contestants compete based on their shooting abilities, for example by shooting at a wooden representation of an eagle. The winner of the competition becomes the 'Schützenkönig' ("king of marksmen") until the next year's competition. (Wikipedia) The Lake Naomi Club has their own version of a Schützenfest starting with a paintball target competition held on Club Beach. The qualification rounds will begin at 2:30 PM and the final shoot off at 5 PM. During this time both the Duster Bar and the Boat House Café will be open offering Happy Hour Specials and appetizers for everyone to enjoy. Live Entertainment will be on beach during this event to add to the festival atmosphere. The crowning of the King/Queen and the Prince/Princess will take place on the dance floor not later than 8 PM. Please sign-up for the free shooting contest at the Community Center Front Desk so we can prepare for the number of participants. Don’t Delay - Sign Up Early for Events!!! The Management Team and appropriate Committees are continually discussing better ways to serve our Club Members. In order for us to provide better quality programs, we need your help in abiding by the registration guidelines for Clubhouse, Recreation and Special Events. The registration list determines the amount of staff, supplies and time that are needed to conduct a program. A deadline date is established to determine whether it is still feasible to hold the event and/or allow staff enough time to make any necessary changes. The majority of people sign up for events just before the deadline. This often causes last minute revamping of programs to accommodate those attending and in some cases events have been canceled due to insufficient registration numbers. Help us to better serve you by signing up for events as soon as possible and noting the deadline dates. This will allow adequate time to prepare the best events possible.

The Snowless Winter Festival T Mother Nature has shown her sense of humor for 2017. No sn in January for the Winter Festival, no snow in February snow for Presidents Weekend BUT record snowfall in March… fo Despite the snowless Winter Festival it was a fun weekend for everyone who participated. This was the year of en the amazing Chili Cook Off. It was held at Club Beach th inside the Boathouse Café and we had a record number of in participants. We would like to thank the following Mempa bers for sharing their special chili: Robert Mezzasalma, Jean be Mezzasalma, Angela VanGernardin, Beth Rosenburg, Marj M Brennan, Debbie DeBenedictis, John Brady, Connie Fennell, B Charles Caikoski, Beth Benner, Carolyn Keiper, and Tommy Boyden. We had over a hunCh l C ik ki B hB dred tasters who chose Thomas Boyden’s chili with a cheesy topping as their favorite. The Judge’s Favorite went to Jean Mezzasalma’s chili with her unique blend of spices, and the Super Sizzling Mouth Burner award went to Carolyn Keiper’s chili. The Kid’s Night Out at the Community Center was also huge hit with over 150 participants. They enjoyed an inflatable obstacle course, egg drop, dance party, scavenger hunt, and arts & crafts. The Cardboard Bobsled Race and the Snowman contest were postponed until President’s Weekend however there was no snow then either. Despite the postponement the Mezzasalma family gathered enough snow from Timber Trails and brought it to Club Beach to create their snowman as they have done for every Winter Festival!! We are all disappointed we did not get to have the cardboard bobsled race this year. Hopefully we will have a normal winter in 2018 where there is snow in January and just rain in March!
Attention Dog Owners Help protect your dog with the Club’s free Dog Registration ion Service Service. Has your dog ever run away from home? Many dog owners have experienced the worry and anxiety that comes when the family’s best friend runs away, especially in an unfamiliar area. By registering with the Club’s free Dog Registration Service, if your dog runs away, the Rangers can easily contact you in the event your dog is found. When you register you will receive a numbered tag that can be attached to your dog’s collar. If a member of the Ranger Staff finds your dog on the loose, the Ranger can check the number on the Club’s dog registration database, which contains information about the dog and a contact number for the owner. Applications for the Dog Registration Service are available at the Administrative Office during regular business hours. We ask for 24 hours in order to process the application. Your dog’s tag will be ready for pickup on the next business day. For more information, contact the Ranger Office at 570-643-6941.

If you have questions please call Vilma Zabaleta at (570) 646-7259 or Kelly Swingle at the Community Center (570) 646-8585. McKee Tennis Staff is Preparing For 2017 Summer As another fun filled tennis season approaches at the Lake Naomi Club , we have to say good-bye to a few of our Tennis Assistant Pros. Zoey, Maddy, Jordan, Ben, and Robin are all moving on to other ventures. So we now say hello to Hamed, Tomas, Andor, Shannon and another Jordan (but this time a female.) Ruth and Pete Hessert will also again be available to offer their USPTA Elite services to our membership. Here is a brief biographical sketch of the new college instructors: Hamed Gandouz Currently attends Lenoir-Rhyne University in North Carolina majoring in Finance and Accounting Services. A native of Tunisia he has served as an event staff coordinator in college for athletic events and loves to conduct cardio classes. Hamed will be accompanying me to LNC on Memorial Day Weekend Andor Vas Attends Queens University in Charlotte, N.C. and is a native of Serbia who speaks five languages fluently. For the past few summers he has worked with children of all ages at the John Sadri Academy in Charlotte and has been involved with Acing Autism. Tomas Hons A teammate of Hamed’s at Lenoir-Rhyne is majoring in Business Management and a native of the Czech Republic. He’s recently taught at the Indian Head Camp in Pennsylvania and at various tennis clubs in his native country. Jordan Schaefer Is a pre-nursing major at Salisbury University in Maryland and has instructed children and adults most recently at Hershey Country Club. She is a recipient of many honors including PRIDE(Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, Excellence) Her hometown is Palmyra, Pa. Shannon Hickman Is also majoring in Nursing at Salisbury and is a teammate of Jordan’s. She has recently taught at Mears Marina and at St. Anne’s Middle School in Annapolis and has been involved in Special Olympics and is a SADD officer(Students Against Destructive Decisions) All of these collegians play a good game and are looking forward to instructing all Members regardless of ability. As mentioned earlier, Hamed Gandouz will be traveling with me for the Memorial Day festivities while Tomas and Andor will be in their native countries. I am hoping that Jordan and Shannon will be available that weekend to meet some of the membership as well. Future notices will update you all as to their Memorial Weekend status. Ruth and Pete Hessert should also be in town the last weekend in May. As we get closer to the summer tennis at Lake Naomi, remember to spend some time hitting on the backboard. Don’t forget to utilize the Sportwall at the Community Center which is a great active target and accuracy building option as well. One of your goals starting right now should be to become a steadier player. Practicing just thirty minutes per day on the backboard will help you attain this goal. Best wishes for many Aces, Richard

2017 World Indoor Sailing Championship January 22, 2017 marked the fifth sailing of what has come to be called the World Indoor Sailing Championship at the Lake Naomi Club indoor pool. We had gentle mastery winds that were near perfect for the RC Laser ‘A’ sails, which was a large topic of discussion leading up to the event since the Community Center pool area has recently increased in size by perhaps 40%. With the one wall along the edge of the pool being pushed back to make room for the shallow pool we had to do some reorganization of fan positions to accommodate how that change effected the wind conditions of the pool. The pool sailing (e.g. sailing in a box) is an intense, close quarters “hoot” everybody has a great time competing in. Over time, this series has become popular enough that we no longer have enough space in the pool for everybody to sail at the same time. A few years ago we switched to CES Pool scheduling to increase the total number of participants that we can host. When we were done after 21 races in less than four hours, with 3 throw outs, the standings were: Sailor Points Jamey Betz ............... 17 John Whipple .............. 20 Nick Mortgu .............. 24 Dean Neely .............. 27 Harry Henkel ............. 34 Roger Baldwin ............. 36 Bill Clausen ................ 41 Rich Daggett ............... 41 Abbey Spector ............. 62 Congratulations to Members John n and Dean for earning a trophy in this event!
Twenty Eighth Annual Family Sailing Gathering The Lake Naomi Club Sailing Association invites you to join them on Sunday, May 28th at 5:00PM for a fun family evening. The Park at Club Beach will be the meeting place where a Pot Luck style gathering will be taking place. Club provided grills will be ready for use and the Sailing Association will be participating to make finding out about the programs and racing all the more easy. This is also a great way to meet fellow Members with similar interests. Fleet Captains and the Commodore will briefly outline the Sailing Events and Races planned for the Summer of 2017. The Race Committee will be present to do this season’s Race Committee volunteer schedule. The Memorial Day races which mark the opening of the season will also be re-capped. All Club Members interested in either Junior or Adult Sailing are encouraged to attend this event. For more information please contact any Member of the Sailing Committee (who’s phone numbers are listed in the Summer Calendar) or Meredith Gilsleider lsleider at the Community Center at 570-646-8585 or mgilsleider@lakenaomiclub.com This should be a great kick off for the season so please plan on attending.
Adult Sailing Classes The LNC Sailing Association would like to encourage Adult Members (17 years of age and older) to enroll in Adult Summer Sailing Instruction. Adult group sailing classes l will ill be offered for Beginners and Advanced Beginners on Saturdays, July 8,15 & 22 from 9-11 AM. Registration for the classes will be taken beginning Memorial Day Saturday either online or in person in the Sailing Office, which is open on weekends in the preseason 10am6pm. Spaces are limited and held for Members as they submit both complete registration and payment of $200 per Member. Classes are taught on Sunfish Sailboats, which the Club can provide or Members may use their own which helps them with tuning their boat etc. All registrants will also be invited to attend the End of Season Sailing Reception held over Labor Day Weekend. Those interested in learning racing techniques or interested in individualized instruction can schedule private lessons by contacting the Sailing Office at (570) 646-LAKE. New sailors can also join in with the Not Ready for Prime Time fleet which is designed to accommodate and help those learning the sport.
Memorial Weekend Sailing Races The Sailing Season kicks off on Sunday, May 28th, with the Memorial Day Sailing Races. There will be two races for the Sunfish, Laser and Duster fleets beginning at Noon. Registration takes place on the beach prior to the first race. This is a great opportunity to get geared up and ready for another great competitive sailing season on Lake Naomi. Hope to see you all there! Not Ready For Prime Time (NRPT) Sailing “Not Ready for Prime Time” is a specific time for those of you less seasoned sailors who can simply tack into the wind and make their way from point A to point B. Saturday afternoons just after the Fleet races are being planned for you! Come out and experience beginning racing as the Committee Boat Crew will help you with how and when you start and directions on how to get around the course. Skippers may also be offered pointers and instructions by the Safety Boat Operators. Junior and Adult sailors will be split into two separate fleets for scoring and will have separate race starts. At other times social sailing events not revolving around racing will be planned as well. The Weekly Flyer and weekly e-blasts will indicate which days are race days and which days are other fun events. NRPT is held on Saturdays throughout the summer season beginning July 8th and continue into August as demand warrants. Meeting time is around 2:00 PM, just after the regular sailing series races finish. These meetings are also conveniently scheduled just after the Saturday Adult Weekly Sailing Lessons. Sailboats are available for use in NRPT if arranged in advance with the Sailing Office. A NRPT flyer with more information is posted on the bulletin board outside the Sailing Office on the beach level of the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. You should also be aware… the NRPT pennant flies on the flagpole on any Saturday there is a scheduled NRPT gathering. There’s sailing opportunities for sailors of all abilities on Lake Naomi, so come out to join in the fun! 9
“Pool Penguin Day” On Sunday, February 5th, the LNC RC Laser Fleet hosted a Pool Penguin Day. The Pool Penguin is also a radio controlled sail boat, but is 1/4 the length of an RC Laser. It was specifically designed for use in backyard pools and indoor pools as at the LSCC. While we must limit races to no more than 8 RC Lasers in the pool at the same time, we had 12 Pool Penguins racing at the same time. (This is nearly all of the Pool Penguins that exist at this point because it is a new design and not many have been made yet.) The main pool was used for a Regatta with 12 registered sailors. The zero entry pool was utilized as a sailing venue for those not participating in the regatta and came to try out radio control sailing. Both pools had their own wind complements of electric fans, though we had to turn down the normal fan speeds on the main pool to accommodate the smaller sailboats. There were a total of 16 races in two and a half hours, with three throw-outs. The final standings were as follows: Jamie Betz ................ 22 David Ramos ........... 24 Dean Neely .............. 49 Jason Neely .............. 52 Ryan Lippincott ....... 55 Jim Flack .................. 65 Roger Baldwin ........ 75 Bill Clausen ............. 92 Nick Mortgu........... 102 Rich Daggett .......... 110 Russell Romano ..... 117 Ryan Spencer ......... 146 Congratulations to the Neely’s eely’s ffor or sailing so well against our visiting sailors. Thanks to all who came to sail, as well as the many Lake Naomi sailors, friends and family members who helped out to make this a memorable day. A special thanks to Ryan Lippincott (designer and builder) and Roger Baldwin (with his own fleet of 10) for providing the Pool Penguins that were sailed.

Vehicle Stickers Please For members who reside in Lake Naomi, the Lake Naomi Club is continuing its efforts to better police the lakes and ponds in the Community to ensure that access to them is limited to bona fide Club Members. You can do your part to assist our Safety and Security Department. If you own and utilize a boat trailer and park at the lake access areas, you can make the Club’s job easier by getting a FREE vehicle sticker(s) from the AdminF iistrative Office and affix it to the driver’s sside front bumper of your vehicle(s). The Patrol Rangers perform daily random P cchecks of the lake accesses and beach areeas. They can easily identify your vehicle aas a Member in good standing by the vehhicle sticker. If vehicles with trailers do nnot have a current sticker, it would give tthem reason to be suspicious of a nonClub Member utilizing the lake. C Another benefit to the vehicle sticker ((which is available to any Club Member iin good standing) is that it permits access tto Timber Trails without having to sign in. IIf you plan to utilize the beach, lake, playground, pool, tennis courts or golf course in Timber Trails, you should ask for a vehicle sticker(s) at the Administrative Office, or consider the benefits of purchasing ($10) a bar code sticker for access to the automatic Members’ gate in Timber Trails. Please help us to protect your investment by ensuring that access to your facilities is limited to bona fide Club Members who furnish the means to maintain their high quality.
