Members have been requesting for several years to have the privilege and convenience of a club-wide member charge system. Instead of providid ding payment with each purchase, Members can opt to add the purchase to their account and pay their bill at the end of each month. Northstar Technologies, ologies, who handles all of the Club’s point-of-sale, membership, accounting and soon th the members’ b ’ website, will track members’ charges. Members will be able to dine, purchase apparel, pay for lessons, sign up for a special functions and choose to have the payment charged to their account. They will then be billed at the end of the month for payment. Members may also continue to pay at the amenities via credit card or LNC stored value cards. The only form of payment not accepted going forward is cash. This change will eliminate the costs associated with cash handling at all of the amenities. Along with the membership charge privilege, our new website is scheduled to go live early in 2017. Members will be able to log onto the website and review their bill on a daily basis. The privilege of membership charge is traditionally featured at Platinum Country Clubs, and we are excited to bring it to the Lake Naomi Club Membership. Please note that the Membership Dues Payment will remain the same and will not be available through the Member Charge option. The Club will continue to communicate about this great enhancement in all of the winter publications. Please call the Administrative Office for more details.

Community Center Renovation Update The Horizon Plan Phase Two, the renovation of the Community Center, is on budget but unfortunately a little behind schedule. The permitting process put us about six weeks behind. Bracy Construction has been working hard to make up for the delay, but at this time we are still about two weeks behind. This would normally not be a big issue, but it puts our opening after the Holiday Break when we had hoped to have the new pool and fitness center available for our members. Bracy has not thrown in the towel yet and is still trying to get it back on schedule. After the Community Center shutdown we will start to have spaces such as the fitness center completed, but still roped off due to the lack of an Occupancy Permit. As soon as the permit is acquired, we will get the new renovations open and communicate that to the membership. You can continue to check on the Lake Naomi Club Facebook page for periodic updates of this Phase.

Administrative Office Closings Thursday, November 24th Office Closed Saturday, December 24th Office Closed Saturday, December 31st Office Closes at 3:00 PM Sundays through February 26, 2017 Office Closed

Continuing with the policy instituted in 2013, we will again be mailing the 2017 dues invoice to all Club Members on or about December 15, 2016. There is a substantial discount if dues are paid on or before March 15th. Members may submit payment beginning December 15th by mail, in person, via our website, or over the phone. All payments received between December 15th and January 2nd will be recorded as being received on January 2nd. These payments will be held together and drawn at random for assignment of boat/canoe/ kayak racks. Payments received beginning January 3rd and after will be considered on a first paid, first assigned basis according to the date received. Club Members are also reminded that the policy of racks being assigned based on the location of their home remains the same: Members making payment through January 31st (including all “early” payments received between December 15th and January 2nd) who are requesting racks in their assigned area get first preference to those racks. Requests from these members for assignments outside of their area will be made beginning February 1st, based on availability of racks at that time. All payments received after January 31st will be assigned on a first paid, first assigned basis, based on availability at that time, to the member’s requested area (without regard to their area of assignment). Please note that no payments received between December 15th and January 2nd will actually be processed until after January 2nd. This means checks will not be cashed nor will credit card payments be processed (EXCEPT payments made on our website which are processed immediately but will still be recorded as being received on January 2nd). We remind all members that early payment gives them the best possible chance for their desired assignment. Please feel free to contact the Administrative Office if you have any questions regarding this information.

Holiday Greetings The arrival of the joyous Holiday Season is a vivid reminder of how quickly time passes. Was it not just yesterday when Members were sitting at the Lake Naomi Pool or Club Beach absorbing the wonderful sun rays, or playing a round of golf or calling for court times? Now the temperatures are declining, the leaves have fallen and the days are getting shorter. All these seasonal changes remind us that the Holiday Season is near. With all of the holiday propaganda, it's easy to lose sight of what is truly important this time of year. What's important varies from Member to Member, but everyone should take a minute to shut out the media, turn off all your digital devices, and truly reflect on what you are thankful for. Remind yourself how lucky you are, no matter what your circumstances, and share it with the people closest to you. This is also the perfect time to remember our Lake Naomi Club family and to say thank you. Thank you to all the Committee Members, Board of Governors and Board of Trustees for the countless hours and the dedication to ensuring that the Members’ Lake Naomi - Timber Trails homes continue to be their favorite retreat. Also thank you to Management and Team Members who strive to ensure that the entire Members’ experiences are top notch. As we say goodbye to 2016 and welcome 2017, may the joy of this holiday season last throughout the year for you and your loved ones.

Lake Naomi Tennis–Last Serve of 2016

The nets are down, the lines are gone, and the chilly wind is whistling through the bare court fences: Lake Naomi and Timber Trails Tennis facilities are tucked away for the winter months. The 2016 tennis season was jam-packed with activities from our Bobby McKee Memorial Day Round Robin through our Labor Day Racquets on the Rocks! In between we played Ladies’ and Men’s Competitive Tennis, Ladies’ and Men’s Social Round Robins, and Ladies’ Team Tennis on a weekly basis, with weekends full of Club Championship Tournament action. Special events like Ladies’ Night Out and Racquets on the Rocks added to the fun! Countless hours of recreational play filled in the gaps as did another great season of improving our game with McKee Tennis. Richard McKee returned with his awesome staff to give our Membership the high-quality, professional tennis education that is his trademark. We are excited to announce that Richard and staff will return again for the 2017 season! He is already making preparations for revamped programming to keep all players, young and not-so-young, on their toes! Look for details in the early spring and please feel free to keep in touch with all things LNTennis by email to tennislessons@lakenaomiclub. com and on our Facebook page (@lakenaomitenniscenter). See you on court in the spring!

2017 RC Laser Winter S Sailing ili S Schedule h d l

What is an RC Laser? Radio Controlled Laser Sailboats (1/4 scale to regular Lasers) sail on Lake Naomi during the warm, summer months and in the indoor pool with fan-powered wind in the winter. On most of the scheduled days, the RC Laser Fleet #9 sailors run practice starts and races. (That is, no scores are kept.) The winter indoor races are scheduled on Sundays from 8 AM to 10 AM – before normal pool hours so as not to interfere with swimming hours. Members without boats are always invited to watch and on most days will be encouraged to try out sailing an RC Laser as there is usually an extra boat or one of the regulars will lend and instruct. This season’s sailing days will be: January 8, January 22, February 5, February 19, March 5, March 19. As far as we know, our indoor sailing is the only regular indoor sailing in the world. Each winter season, Fleet #9 hosts the 'World Indoor Sailing Championship'. In fact, it does attract a few of the world's best RC sailors. (There is only room for a small number of boats to race at the same time so participation is strictly on an invitational nu basis.) The Winter Regatta is a really special time for spectators and the one event ba that th boats are not available for others to tryout. The World Indoor Sailing Championship starts at 7 AM and runs until 11 AM. The date for this event in 2017 has not on been be selected in time for publication in this Reflections. The local Laser Fleet is also trying to schedule an additional fun event involving a newly designed RC sailboat, the Pool Penguin. They are much smaller boats, so we ne can ca have more of them in the pool at the same time. Every effort will be made to accommodate all of those who wish to try one out. Watch future LNC announcements co for fo the date and time of this fun pool event. Be aware that if regular sailor participation looks to be very low pa RC R sailing is subject to being canceled. Contact Meredith Gilsleider ce at mgilsleider@lakenaomiclub. com co for information on last minute ut changes in the schedule.

Junior Sailing Program 2016 The Junior Sailing Program enjoyed a very successful year with a full roster of enthusiastic young Members who participated in lessons twice a week for 6 weeks in the Main Summer Season. A & B Fleet races were held weekly with strong encouragement from both instructors and the Sailing Committee for additional participation in the regular club races and regattas. The end of season was celebrated with a Friday evening Tailgate party and the annual two day Junior Regatta which takes place on both Saturday and Sunday. The weekend devoted to our youngest skippers ended with the End of Season Junior Sailing Celebration on Sunday, August 14th. Sailors and their families gathered in the Logan Steele Community Center Pavilion to recap the summer, honor the season’s high scoring sailors, and receive their awards, stat sheets and LNC Sailing hats which were this year’s sailing program memento. Pizza and cake were served by the Sailing Committee Volunteers and a ggreat time was had by all.

We Have A Vacation Spot For You When you hear your colleagues at work, your neighbors and your friends talking about their summer vacations and the fact that they had to cut their vacation short due to beaches being closed as a result of shark sightings, or that traffic was terrible, or there was nothing for the kids to do but go to the boardwalk and spend money -- be sure to tell them that you have a great vacation spot for them in the Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. People often book their vacation rentals early and many times go back to a less than satisfying location based on force of habit. It is not too early to plant the seed in order to have your colleagues, neighbors and friends spend their 2017 summer vacation at Lake Naomi - Timber Trails, the only Five Star Platinum Club Community in the Northeast. There is also the winter getaway you can suggest at the Mountaintop Lodge. Be sure to tell them that Lake Naomi - Timber Trails has seven sandy beaches and a whole lot more. Like fast-dry, soft surface tennis courts, a wonderful golf course, swimming pool with a great water slide, swimming pool with aquatic climbing wall, the Kid’s Klub Camp Program, creative teen and pre-teen programs, adult activities, a Clubhouse-Restaurant, three lakes and two ponds, sailing, boating, windsurfing, canoeing, paddle boarding, mountain biking, fishing, hiking and outdoor programs as well as topnotch instructional programs in swimming, sailing, tennis, golf and archery. Then there is the Community Center that features an indoor swimming pool with a splash park, fitness center and aerobics studio, multi-purpose space capable of accommodating two indoor tennis courts, a covered pavilion, paddle tennis court, sports fields, archery range and much, much, more. If the Club can help you in attracting others to vacation in the Community by providing you with DVD’s, Leisure Service Guides, Calendars, Newsletters, Activity Flyers and the like, just give Communications/Marketing Manager Laura Altemose a call at (570) 646-9191, ext. 104 or email her at laltemose@lakenaomiclub.com. If you need Laura to speak directly with potential visitors, she will be glad to do that as well. Start now! Promote your Five Star Platinum Club Community and the Mountaintop Lodge. Planning for a great 2017 Season is underway.

Special Holiday Tree The Environmental Stewar ardship Committee will be sponsoring a Holiday Tree located on the lawn in front of the Community Center. Is the Ice Safe for You, Your Friends and Equipment? With winter on its way, the ice fishing season will be upon us. To ensure a safe time while ice fishing, you must remember to follow certain precautions. Carelessness is th the number one enemy of ice fisherpersons and knowledge is the number one weapon against that enemy. The best equipment is of no value if you are in icy water fighting to escape. Please take the following precautions when ice fishing to ensure yourself and others of a good time. Know the ice. When selecting a location, check the ice by chipping it with a sharp object. If ice chips and has a clinking sound, it is good ice. If it crumbles and has a dull sound, it is unsafe. Stickups, piers or any protruding structures cause weak ice. Areas that have or are near currents, springs and aerators are also areas that may have weak ice. Please stay clear of these areas. Two inches of clear blue ice can support one person traveling on foot, three inches can support a group traveling in single file. Four or more inches of ice is considered safe for general use – such as a group of ice fisherpersons. Ice that is four inches thick will hold up to 260 pounds, over six inches is safe for you and your equipment. Cloudy or opaque ice may support less weight, and slush ice on a lake is only one-half as strong as clear blue ice. Before venturing out onto the ice, exercise extreme caution – especially during the first ice cover and during the late winter months when rapid changes occur in ice structure. Black ice is clear and has no snow frozen in it. This can be safe but it is difficult to see water holes on a calm day when there are no ripples on the water. It is very slippery and ice creepers for your footwear are a must. It's always a good idea to use the buddy system when ice fishing. In the event that you break through the ice, stay calm and do not panic, put your arms up and lay them on the ice, your clothing will freeze and adhere to the ice. This will keep your body at a level accessible for rescue. Another rescue method is to take two large spikes and tie a leather thong to the head of each spike. Hang this device around your shoulders and slip the spikes in your breast pockets. If you should fall through the ice, grab the spikes to claw your way out of the water. REMEMBER, it is IMPOSSIBLE to crawl out of slippery ice if the water is more than waist deep. When trying to locate fish, do not move more than 10 feet from one hole to a new hole. Fish run in schools and will be feeding on plankton within a certain area. Depth of the ice is also very critical: at the first safe ice, fishing is best in the shallow water areas, as the ice thickens, the fish move into the deeper water areas.

Sledding Hill The Lake Naomi Club sledding hill located outside of the Lake Naomi Clubhouse will again be available to Members this winter season. The sledding hill will be open when weather permits. When the sledding we hill is open the hours of operation are hil from dawn until dusk. It is absolutely uunsafe to ride the sledding hill after dark so please refrain from doing so. The sledding hill will be posted as “Closed” when it is consid“Cl ered unsafe to ride. Please abide by the postings each day in order to keep yourr entire family safe.

Lake Naomi Club Q & A I have seen tree cutting happening in the community without a permit posted. Doesn’t tree removal (including the removal of limbs) require a permit? All cutting or trimming of trees requires that the homeowner (or the contractor on behalf of the homeowner) apply for a tree removal/tree trimming permit. Any trees, limbs, shrubs or other growth that is removed without a permit and that compromises the front, rear or side buffers will need to be replaced. This is especially important when tree work is done to a Lake Front area. All home owners who have property that borders Lake Naomi want to have a view of the lake. To balance in keeping the natural buffers around the Lake, it is very important for the home owner and the Club to work together to protect that buffer while still giving the home owner the view they have made a significant investment in. Hence, the term “buffered view” being the goal. The permit requirement is not meant to be a detriment to a home owner getting the results they desire, but it is a means of working together to preserve the beauty of Lake Naomi for all Members to enjoy. If you see work being done without a permit, please contact the Administrative Office. My garbage was missed this week and now the bear got into it. Why did d that happen and what should I do? The Community Garbage program completed its first year in July and has had some ups and downs. Given the nature of the business with frequentt personnel changes and 2,100 homes we will always expect some misses. It’s the recurring misses that affect the same homes week after week that is very frustrating, not only for LNC Staff, but for the home owners as well. If your garbage is missed, please report it to the Administrative Office as soon as possible so that County Waste can be sent back to retrieve it. If for some reason County Waste cannot return in a timely manner, Lake Naomi Club litter patrol will retrieve the garbage. However, as a Member of the Community it is your responsibility to place your garbage in a bear proof receptacle and then place that receptacle inside of a bear resistant wooden box, take your cans in, or place them in a location camouflaged by landscaping. Placing a regular plastic can or a standard metal can out by the road or even inside the wood structure is asking for the bear to come and rip it apart; especially if you put your garbage out on a Sunday night. The Club continues to recommend the purchase of a bear resistant Bearicuda receptacle or other bear proof brand container. The 30 gallon Bearicuda cans, while small, have a seal inside the twist off top that contains the smells. The larger stealth models are steel lined and have a two handed locking system. The Club has sold (wholesale, you pay only what we pay to the manufacturer) in excess of 300 of these cans. We need everyone’s help to deter the bears. Please contact the Administrative Office if you are in need of a Bearicuda. I see garbage cans out by the road, not in a wooden bin. I thought all cans had to be hidden from view in an approved wooden structure? The ARC Standards and Requirements and the Garbage Policies of the Associations do state that all garbage cans must be placed in a wooden structure. This was done for two reasons, aesthetics and bear protection. Now we all know that a bear can simply pick those structures up and throw them like a beach ball. So unless you have a bear proof can inside, the bear is going to damage the structure to get to the can or bag he smells inside. The structures do create a more pleasing aesthetic for the Community, putting the cans out of sight. With the introduction of the new garbage program, and to give everyone time to get the needed cans and a bin to put them in, it was not strictly enforced for the first year of Community garbage Service. However, the ARC Inspector has begun to notify those home owners that continually leave the cans out by the road. The cans must be placed inside a wooden structure, taken into the garage or camouflaged by landscaping. Lake Naomi – Timber Trails is a beautiful community, let’s all do our part to keep it that way!

Award Winning Bed & Breakfast for Four Years

Meet Me at the Lodge I’m not sure about everyone else ,but autumn is my favorite time of the year. I love the crisp air and the changing leaves and the pumpkin and cinnamon flavors that seem to be in everything we buy. The Coffee and Pastry shop has definitely had its share of spooky treats in the past weeks and pumpkin lattes have been flying out the door. Be sure to stop in before we switch to gingerbread and snickerdoodle! Now is the time to start planning your holiday meals and as always, the Mountaintop Lodge will be baking up hundreds of pies. Why not let us take care of those desserts so you can spend more time with your family? Order forms can be found at the Community Center, Administrative Office and Lodge, or just give us a call at 570646-6636. All orders must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 20th for Thanksgiving pickup. The past three years we have had a Tree Lighting Ceremony complete with the singing of carols, fresh baked cookies, hot chocolate and spiced wine. It has been a very popular event and we have outgrown the lobby area so we’re expanding into the dining room. This year we will be turning the lights on Friday, December 9th from 6:30-8:00 PM. We want you to be a part of our special celebration! When you come for the Tree Lighting please bring an ornament to hang on the dining room tree. Our theme is Winter Fun and Snowmen but any ornament is welcomed. Tags will be available so that you can label your ornament and you will have the opportunity to pick them up after the New Year. Warm up that singing voice and we can’t wait to see you. And last but not least… if you have family and friends coming to Lake Naomi to celebrate the holidays and need a bit more space, now is the time to make your reservations at the Lodge. We are filling up quickly, especially for New Year’s , and always hate needing to turn guests away. Carolyn Keiper, MTL Hospitality Manager
