In honor of the 2014 Winter Olympics the Lake Naomi Club has decided to dedicate the Winter Festival to this grand event.

The Winter Festival will begin on Friday, January 24th with the Opening Ceremony at the Community Center and the Winter Festival will end with a Closing Medal Ceremony on Sunday, January 26th. One of the added activities is a two man cardboard bobsled race where Members will have the opportunity to create their own two person bobsled using just cardboard, duct tape and paint.

The race will take place on the hill next to the Clubhouse on Saturday at 4:00 PM. The snowman contest has been moved to the front lawn of the Mountaintop Lodge and judging will take place on Sunday at 11:00 AM. Also we cannot have a Winter Olympics without the sport of curling LNC style.

The favorite Winter Festival Activities that will be featured again this year but with the Olympic twist include skating, story time, arts & crafts, gingerbread house making, games, special night for the kids at the CC, special night for the adults at the LNCH, Après Ski Happy Hour, Sunday Breakfast Buffet, Horse drawn wagon rides, cross country skiing, sledding, Zumba Fitness Event, Ice Carving demonstration, toasting marshmallows, s’more building, and Chili Cook Off. The Club will be offering Jack Frost/Big Boulder specials for lift tickets, ski/snowboard lessons and snow tubing.

The Club will again invite past Temporary Members to come stay at LN-TT to show them how much fun this area can be in the winter months. The Temporary Membership fee for a family will be $50 for three days and all guest fees will be waived this weekend. The guest limit will remain in effect with four guests per Family Membership per day. Members are all invited to participate in this fun filled weekend. Invite your friends and family members so they too can enjoy all the activities. Read the upcoming LNC Newsletter Weekly Updates for more information. This has been a huge fun event for everyone who attended in the past. Mark your calendar now and start inviting your friends.

Mountaintop Lodge Picked Best Bed and Breakfast It's official! The Mountaintop Lodge is the BEST Bed and Breakfast in the area. At the Board of Trustees meeting on Saturday, November 2nd Brian Drum and Anna McAleer were honored for their nine years of service on the Board of Trustees. Brian and Anna will officially retire from the Board of Trustees effective December 31, 2013.

During Brian’s time on the Board of Trustees he served as the Vice President for one year and the Secretary for three years. During his entire nine years of service Brian was the BOT liaison for the Membership/Marketing Committee. Prior to his service on the Board of Trustees Brian served on the Sailing Committee for fifteen years where he held the position of Vice Commodore and Commodore. He also served on the BOG and was the Chair of the Membership/Marketing Task Force.

During Anna’s time on the Board of Trustees she served as the President for a year, Vice President for two years and Treasurer for three years. Prior to her service on the Board of Trustees Anna served as the BOG Chair, BOG Vice-Chair, Chair of the Recreations Committee and Chair of the Long Range Planning Committee.

Brian and Anna have earned a well-deserved rest from the Lake Naomi Club volunteer force, at least until the next Task Force is formed.

Holiday Greetings The arrival of the joyous Holiday Season is a vivid reminder of how quickly time passes. Was it not just yyesterday when Members were sitting at the Lake Naomi Pool or Club Beach absorbing the wonderful sun rays, or playing a round of golf or calling for court times? Now the temperatures are declining, the leaves have fallen and the days are getting shorter. All these seasonal changes remind us that the Holiday Season is near.

With all of the holiday propaganda, it's easy to lose sight of what is truly important this time of year. What's important varies from Member to Member, but everyone should take a minute to shut out the media, turn off yyour iPhones and iPads, and truly reflect on what you are thankful for. Remind yourself how lucky you are, no matter what your circumstances, and share it with the people closest to you.

This is also the perfect time to remember our Lake Naomi – Timber Trails family and to say thank you. Thank you to all the Committee Members, Board of Governors and Board of Trustees for the countless hours and the dedication to ensuring that the Members’ Lake Naomi - Timber Trails home continues to be their favorite retreat. Also thank you to Management and Team Members who strive to ensure that the entire Members’ experiences are top notch.

2013 Lake Draw Down Update The 2013 lake draw down started on October 17th and currently the water depth has decreased a total of 5 feet.

The weather has cooperated with the draw down thus far as any rain could easily fill the lake quickly. The goal is to have all Club and Member projects completed by mid-January 2014 so that the lake water level should recover to the normal elevation by mid-February 2014. The Club is currently working on repairs to dam abutments, restoration of beaches and marinas, improvements to the Park at Club Beach lake front, peninsula and jetty restorations, removal of some boating hazards, replacement of boat moorings and repairs to lake dry hydrants. While the lake is down it is a great chance for all the fishing persons to get a look at the fish habitat and for the boaters to see the underwater hazards before the lake fills up and everyone is once again enjoying their favorite lake activity during the 2014 season.

Gateway Task Force The Gateway Task Force has been created to define what is the best use of the newly purchased property adjacent to Lake Naomi. Trustee Emeritus Jim Hyatt has agreed to chair the Gateway Task Force. The name of the Task Force came from the Board of Governors when they decided that this new property is truly the gateway to Lake Naomi – Timber Trails. The first meeting is Saturday, December 7th where the Task Force will begin to explore the ideas for this property that have been submitted by the Members and determine what would best benefit the Club at this location. If you have an idea you would like the Gateway Task Force to consider please email it to admin@lakenaomiclub.com or drop it off at the Administrative Office.

Dinner reservations at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse are well w advised. In order to accommodate as many Members as possible on Friday and Saturday d nights in the Main Dining Room reservations are highly recommended. Reservations assist in the planning and staffing process, ultimately providing a better dining experience. a The T Clubhouse Team will do their very best to accommodate Members who arrive without a reservation, but please understand you may have to wait for an extended period. There have been an increasing number of times where Members don’t show up for their reservation. Many times the Clubhouse will ti lose lo potential customers because the wait will be too long, but as it turns out the Clubhouse winds up with empty tables since Members never cancelled their reservation. Curbside Cuisine Pickup Program Many Members are taking advantage of the Curbside Cuisine Pickup Program. Chef’s Bistro Menu and our new Italian Style Pizza Menu are available for curb side delivery to your car. The fall and winter hours are 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Thursday thru Saturday. When placing your order please have your Member number available and the server will take payment with a credit card. Our culinary team is asking for 30 minutes preparation time but the amount of time can vary due to business in the Clubhouse. Family New Year’s Eve Ball Join us this New Year’s Eve for a spectacular event! LNC families are invited to dress their best and dance the night away at our very fine Family New Year’s Eve Ball at the Community Center on December 31, 2013 from 7-10PM. Come hungry and enjoy a fabulous assortment of delicious food.

The night will be a magical celebration culminating with our New Year’s Ball Drop.

Winter Ski Vouchers The Lake Naomi Club is again offering Club Members reduced ski lift tickets to JFBB. Be sure to take advantage of this popular ski voucher program during the 2013/2014 ski season. Vouchers will be sold at the Community Center in the beginning of December and continue through the end of February.

Only bona fide Club Members and Winter Temporary Members will be eligible to purchase ski vouchers from the Lake Naomi Club. For your convenience the Club will be accepting cash, check, credit card or stored value card payments. Vouchers can not be refunded and supplies are limited depending on the ability of the ski areas to fill reorders. Enjoy this great sport while saving money by using the Club’s voucher program. Fourth and Fifth Grade Snowpass Program The Lake Naomi Club would like to make all Members aware of this wonderful program! The Pennsylvania Ski Area Association is offering any fourth or fifth grader the chance to ski for free this winter. There are 21 participating member resorts of the Pennsylvania Ski Areas Association with a few of the participating nearby mountains being Alpine, Bear Creek, Jack Frost/Big Boulder, Camelback, Shawnee, Blue, Elk and many more! The goal of this program is to introduce fourth and fifth graders to the sport of skiing and snowboarding and create life-long participants of winter fun. Calling all Teens Are you a teen (age 13-18) who likes to be active in the LN-TT Community? Do you have some ideas of things we can do that would make your visits to LN-TT more fun? Are you interested in having leadership and volunteer opportunities? Then the Club wants you!

The Recreation Committee is setting up a Teen Advisory Committee (TAC) that will help to provide feedback and ideas for upcoming recreation activities. The TAC will be 8-12 teens who will meet periodically to discuss and plan teen activities. It will be some hard work with a lot of fun thrown in to keep things moving. If you are interested you can fill out the Teen Advisory Committee Application found in the Members Section of www.lakenaomiclub.com under the Online Sign-Up. This is your chance to help shape the future of teen activities at Lake Naomi Club.

Tree of Mittens Join the Activities Committee in the giving spirit this holiday season by donating a pair of children’s mittens being collected at the Community Center. A twelve foot pine tree will stand in the Great Room of the Community Center and will be decorated with all of the mittens collected this season. This collection will run from December 1st through January 1, 2014 and then the mittens will be collected and donated to Monroe County Children and Youth.

Vote for your Favorite 2014 Calendar Picture Enclosed in this Reflections you will find the 2014 Calendar. If you would like additional calendars to share with your family or friends please contact the Administrative office at 570-646-9191 or email admin@lakenaomiclub.com.

The response to the request of sharing your favorite pictures was once again overwhelming. With the addition of online picture submission and the great mobile phone cameras even more Members shared their favorite pictures. Over 1,000 pictures were submitted so selecting the best pictures for the calendar is always a fun challenge. There are 66 pictures from 50 Club Members in the 2014 calendar. There is still a task that needs be done and the Club needs your help. As promised there are four $50 Stored Value Cards that need to be issued for the best pictures. The four pictures that receive the most votes will be awarded the SVC’s. You can place your vote by visiting the website at www.LakeNaomiClub.com. Click on the Members and then sign in, select What’s Happening from the menu bar, click on Current News from the drop down menu and there will be an article leading you to the voting form. Please take a few moments to enjoy the pictures and cast your vote. Each Member can choose their four favorite calendar pictures and all votes must be submitted by December 31st.

Food Bank Members of LN-TT can continue to bring their food donations to the Community Center through the Winter and Spring. Drop off yourr canned goods or non perishable food items during regular hours.

Community Center Hours As winter approaches don’t forget all activities the Community Center has to offer during the winter season. Tennis, platform tennis, basketball, golf driving net and simulator, swimming, various planned activities, fitness classes and of course the fitness center, are all ways to stay active when Mother Nature turns cold. Holiday Klub Day Camp Back again by popular demand, the winter version of Kids Klub, Holiday Klub. Members and guests in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to join our great Summer Klub Counselors at the Logan Steele Community Center for some winter fun. Thursday, December 26th, Friday December 27th and Monday, December 30th from 9:00 AM until Noon, we will spend our days with games, songs, outdoor winter activities, snacks, crafts and skits. You can register for one day or register for all three. What a great way to get out of the house, see summer friends and meet new ones. Space is limited so make sure to register early. Cost per day for registration will be $25 for Members and $35 for guests. Receive a $5 per day discount when you register by December 19th. Fitness News The Fitness Staff at the Logan Steele Community Center would like to remind you that the holiday season is not time for a break from your personal wellness routine. Please respect your fellow members and refer to the guidelines in the Leisure Service Guide as to usage of the cardio machines. Also please be aware as cold and flu season is upon us, it is common courtesy and proper gym etiquette to wipe down the machines after use. It is our recommendation that you also take a moment to wipe them before you use them to prevent the spread of germs.

Your Fitness Committee has been working hard on keeping current with the latest trends in the industry and to ensure LNC continues to offer programming of the highest standards. Please see the class schedule for holiday events and class changes. Class fees will be discounted to $5 per class or 5 classes for $20 for December 26th to the 31st as our holiday gift to you. Any Member who has purchased a one month unlimited package in December will receive an additional free week. Also look for information on our special yoga and nutrition workshops schedule through the rest of the year. Early registration is required, please call to reserve your spot today. Be sure to pick up a complete schedule of all classes when you visit the Community Center and sign up in advance as space may be limited.

Turkey Trot Join us at the Logan Steele Community Center for a fun run/walk on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 9:00 AM. All ages are welcome to bundle up p and run 3 laps around the leisure trail (providing it is not under a foot off snow). We will collect a $5 per person entry fee with all proceeds going to Toys for Tots. Please call the Community Center to register in advance at 570-646-8585.

Night Recreation Activities Looking for something to do after a day of snowboarding or visiting with family over the holiday season? Third graders and up are welcome to join in nightly fun and activities at the Logan Steele Community Center. Our staff will be organizing games, crafts, competitions or just opportunities to hang out with other Members and guests that are your age from 6:00-9:00 PM on Dec. 21st - Dec. 23rd and Dec. 26th through Dec. 30th.

There is no charge for these activities and no advanced registration required. Just stop in and see what is going on.

Community Center Guests While we are always happy to also entertain Guests here in Lake Naomi - Timber Trails, please be mindful of the Community Center guidelines this coming winter and holiday season: there is a limit of six Guests per day per Family Membership on weekdays and four Guests per day per Family Membership on weekends and holidays. The ARC Needs YOU!!

The Lake Naomi Club Architectural Review Committee is currently accepting applications for Committee Members. If you are committed to preserving and enhancing our beautiful Community and can spare one Saturday per month, please consider submitting your application! The ARC meets once per month to review new homes and additions, consider variance requests and resolve violations. This is a very interesting and rewarding way to serve your Community!

Winter Season Swim Lessons The Community Center is offering swim lessons during the Thanksgiving Holiday.

The Year Round Water Safety Instructors (certified through the American Red Cross) will offer three lessons as follows: Saturday, November 30th & Sunday, December 1st.

Classes are expected to fill quickly so please don’t wait to register if you’re interested.

Private instruction is also available for all ages including adults at the rate of $20 per thirty minutes of private instruction. 2014 Dues Payment Procedure In 2013 there was a change in the Dues Payment Procedure to give equal opportunity to every Member to submit their dues and rack requests as early as possible. Many Members took advantage of the opportunity, and over 400 payments were received between December 15, 2012 and January 2, 2013. This change was conducted on a one-year trial basis, and after review it has been determined to continue with this change for 2014.

This year we will again be mailing the 2014 dues invoice to all Club Members on or about December 15, 2013. Members may submit payment beginning December 15th by mail, in person, via our website, or over the phone. All payments received between December 15th up to and including January 2nd will be recorded as being received on January 2nd. All of these payments will be held together and drawn at random. Based on that random drawing is the order in which they will be processed for the assignment of racks. Payments received beginning January 3rd and after will be processed on a first paid, first assigned basis according to the date received.

Club Members are also reminded that the policy of racks being assigned based on the location of their home remains the same: Members making payment until January 31st and requesting racks in their area of assignment get first preference to those racks.

Members making payment until January 31st and requesting racks outside of their area are assigned to that area after January 31st based on availability of racks and on their date of payment. Members making payment after January 31st will be assigned to the remaining racks in their requested area (regardless of their assigned area) on a first paid, first assigned basis.

Please note that no payments received between December 15th and January 2nd will actually be processed until after January 2nd. This means checks will not be cashed nor will credit card payments be processed (EXCEPT payments made on our website which are processed immediately but will still be recorded as being received on January 2nd).

We hope all Members who wish to pay as early as possible again find this to be a much more effective and efficient procedure. Please feel free to contact the Administrative Office if you have questions regarding this information.

The total number of families that subscribed to the Club’s Temporary Membership (TM) during the 2013 season was 835. Temporary Memberships for 2013 are projected to generate $297,509.00 in fees towards the annual operations budget by years end.

Temporary Members are described as a family living on a temporary basis in the home of a Club Member when the Home Owner/ Club Member is not present. This includes those renting homes as well as Family Members and Colleagues of Club Members utilizing homes without the Club Member being present.

Temporary Memberships are very important to the Club as not only do Temporary Members generate a significant amount of revenue for the Club, but Temporary Members also represent the number two source of future Club Members. The number one source of future Club Members is through referrals from existing Club Members.

Remember the Membershare Referral program was expanded to include Temporary Members.

When your referral purchases their Temporary Membership, you will be rewarded 25 Club Dollars for each week your referral purchases their Temporary Membership with a maximum of 100 Club Dollars per referral. You will receive a stored value card that can be utilized toward your Membership Fees or used at any amenity. To qualify the person you refer must be totally new to the Lake Naomi Club and the referral card must be turned into the Administrative Office before the temporary membership is purchased.

The Membership/Marketing Committee plans to continue its marketing efforts for Temporary Members, as once families see and experience the Lake Naomi and Timber Trails Community, the chances of their becoming a Property Owner/Club Member increases dramatically.

The Benefits of Tennis and other Physical Activities Movement sports such as tennis are great for developing physical skills while enhancing overall fitness and health.

Introducing tennis at a young age and providing an enjoyable atmosphere will bring these players back to the courts time after time, thus developing worthwhile habits which hopefully will stay with them throughout their lives.

Consider these facts about childhood obesity from the Centers for Disease Control: • The prevalence of overweight among children aged 6 to 11 more than doubled in the past 20 years, going from 7% in 1980 to 18.8% in 2004. The rate among adolescents aged 12 to 19 more than tripled, increasing from 5% to 17.1%.

• Overweight is the result of caloric imbalance (too few calories expended for the amount of calories consumed) and is mediated by genetics and health.

An estimated 61% of overweight young people have at least one additional risk factor for heart disease, such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure.

• In addition, children who are overweight are at greater risk for bone and joint problems, sleep apnea, and social and psychological problems such as stigmatization and poor self-esteem.

• Overweight young people are more likely than children of normal weight to become overweight or obese adults, and therefore more at risk for associated adult health problems, including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer, and osteoarthritis.

• Healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating and physical activity, can lower the risk of becoming overweight and developing related diseases.

The Lake Naomi Club provides numerous opportunities for our children to engage in positive, fun physical activities and McKee Tennis will continue to provide tennis programs for our children, and integrate fitness and nutrition components into our programs.

Members who do not have their own rackets and balls may use the platform equipment available for check out at the reception desk. Eye protection is highly recommended and athletic shoes are required. i d All Members are permitted to play with no court fees. Reservations are not necessary, courts are first come, first to play, but if you have a group who desire a certain play time, please call the Community Center to reserve the courts with the receptionist, especially after a snowfall. The reception desk keeps a highlight sheet on platform tennis as well as the official rules for the Members who wish to use them. Additional information can also be found on the APTA website at www.platformtennis.org We keep a roster at the Community Center reception desk for players who are interested in finding games. 2013-2014 RC Laser WINTER Sailing Schedule “There are sail boats in the Pool!”

You may have heard kids yell this at the Community Center. If you are there at the right time, it is true. The RC Laser’s winter schedule is below.

On most of the scheduled days, the RC Laser Fleet #9 sailors are running practice starts and races. (That is, no scores are kept.) The races are scheduled on Sundays from 8 AM to 10 AM -- ending in time enough so that the pool is ready to open for swimming at 10. Also, on most days you will be encouraged to try out sailing an RC Laser as there is usually an extra boat or one of the regulars will lend you their boat, with instructions. In March, the Winter Regatta will be held. So far as we know, our indoor sailing is the only regular indoor sailing in the world. It is known in RC Laser sailing circles as the 'World Indoor Sailing Championship'. In fact, it does attract a few of the world's best RC sailors. (There is only room for a small number of boats to race at the same time.) So the Winter Regatta is a really special time for spectators and the one event that boats are not available for others to tryout.

The Winter Regatta starts at 7 AM and runs until 11 AM. The sailing days are: November 17 (subject to pool reopening) December 1, 15, 29 January 12, 26 NOTE - January 26th coincides with the Club's WinterFest and special emphasis is placed on involving spectators with trying out the boats.

February 9, 23 March 9, 23 (see notes below) March 9th is the primary date for the Winter Regatta. March 23rd is the alternative date in case of bad weather.

Note that bad weather is generally not a factor for indoor sailing, but bad winter weather could prevent some participants from getting to the Poconos in a timely fashion. Be aware that if regular sailor participation looks to be very low or the pool is closed or whatever, RC sailing is subject to being canceled.

Golf Notes Marshal Butler, George Bernardin, Penny Antrim and Jeanne Dyer made up the winning team for the last tournament of the season, The Fall Bloody Mary. As the season is winding down there is no reason to put the clubs away for the year just yet. The golf course will be open weather permitting into November. All Golf Members are asked to sign in on the way to number #1 tee.

The family golf tees which were introduced in June of this year were a big success.

The tees brought adults and children together to enjoy the game of golf. Playing a round of golf with your kids is a great way to spend an afternoon, teaching your kids a fun sport and many life lessons along the way. In 2014 the Family Golf Event will be held on Saturday, July 26th. There will be three Family Golf Fun Workshops leading up to the Family Golf Event. These dates will be announced in Spring of 2014.

The Golf Simulator located at the Logan Steele Community Center is a great way to practice when you can’t get on the golf course. It gives you vital data like swing speed, ball speed, swing path, club face angle and angle of attack. Golf lessons are available this winter, using the simulator to monitor your swing and get the statistics that are imperative in improving your swing. There will be some new events added to the Golf Calendar for 2014. The Match Play Championship will be held on Sunday, August 24th. Qualifying will begin on Saturday, May 31st. Next year the Match Play will be a net handicapped tournament allowing all skill level players to compete. Only players with a ghin handicap will be permitted to play. A Night Golf Fun Tournament will be held Thursday, July 10th starting at 8:00 PM. On Sunday, September 14th there will be a tournament called Battle of the Sexes, this will be a stableford format pitting the men against the ladies.

We encourage all Golf Members to get a Ghin U.S.G.A. handicap. There is no charge and it is easy to sign up. If you would like to get a handicap next year, save any scores with the scorecard and come to the Golf Center next Spring and we can get you registered. Bob Millard PGA Golf Professional

LNC 50th Anniversary Memory Book Deadline Don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of Lake Naomi Club history! The deadline for the patron page is December 15, 2013. Junior Sailing Program 2013 The Junior Sailing Program was filled to capacity with enthusiastic young Members who participated in lessons twice a week for 6 weeks in the Main Summer Season. A & B Fleet races were held weekly with strong encouragement from both instructors and the Sailing Committee for additional participation in the regular club races and regattas as well as the Junior category of Not Ready for Prime Time fleet racing.

The end of season was celebrated with a Friday evening Tailgate party (which this year also included special additions for the Administrative Club’s 50th Anniversary.) Then the annual 2 day Junior Regatta took place on Saturday Office Closings and Sunday which was another record breakThursday, November 28th er for participation. And finally this weekend Office Closed devoted to our youngest skippers ended with Tues, Dec 24th and Weds, Dec 25th the End of Season Junior Sailing Celebration Office Closed on Sunday. Sailors and their families gathTuesday, December 31st ered in the Logan Steele Community Center Offi ce Closes at 3:00 PM Pavilion to recap the summer, honor the seaWednesday, January 1st son’s high scoring sailors, and receive their Office Closed awards, stat sheets and mementos. For starters, every Monday evening we have Sip and Stitch from 3:008:00 PM. Sip and Stitch is a time to come and work on your craft project with other crafters. Maybe you enjoy crocheting, knitting, quilting, scrapbooking…any craft project you want to work on is fair game. Come and go as you wish, you can stay the whole time or just pop in for an hour or two.

Many children love to leave a plate of cookies out for Santa on Christmas Eve, and many adults like to give the gift of baked goodies around the holidays. On Saturday, December 7th from 10:30 AM - 4:30 PM the Lodge will be having a Pottery Painting Day. The elves from Poke-A-Nose Pottery will be delivering ceramic plates and paints for you to design the perfect plate for those treats. You can choose to paint an 8” Salad size plate for $20.00 or an 11” Dinner size plate for $25.00. The fee includes the plates, paints, glazing and firing – so that your finished projects will be food, microwave and dishwasher safe. Sign-ups are required so that we know how many plates to have available.

(Plates will be available for pickup starting Tuesday, December 17th).

Another exciting activity is our first Canvas Party on Thursday, December 12th starting at 7:00 PM. Kelly Camillo will be here to walk you through painting your very own 16x20 Canvas with a winter design. You will leave the Lodge that evening with your completed painting, and ANYONE can do it! The cost of this class is $35.00 which includes all needed supplies. Bring your friends and a bottle of wine and have a blast. The Coffee Shop will also be open until 7:30 PM for your coffee and pastry needs. Please call 570-6466636 to sign up, space is limited and sign-ups end on December 10th.

There are two opportunities in December for your kids to try their hand at being a baker. On Saturday, December 14th from 12:00-5:00 PM (takes about 30 minutes, reserve your preferred time) we will be decorating giant gingerbread men and gingerbread trees. The cost per child is $8.00 and includes icing and assorted edible decorations. On Saturday, December 28th our Kids in the Kitchen event will be making Teddy Bear Bread, Strawberry-Raspberry Jam and Fresh Butter. This event will run from 1:00-3:30 PM and is suited for those children with a little longer attention span (like ages 7+), younger children are invited but, will need to have an adult with them for assistance. Each participant will be going home with a loaf of fresh baked teddy bear bread, jelly and butter to share. The cost of this event is $20.00 each and sign-ups will be accepted until December 26th on a first come basis. Space is limited to 10 children.

Horizon Plan Update Management and the Committees continue to work on all the details of Phase One of the Horizon Plan that were presented at the Membership Annual Meeting. The process has been long but the Club is close to having the design plan and cost projections completed so that the information can be communicated with the Membership. The next Long Range Planning Meeting will be December 28th where the details will be finalized and then the Membership communication process will begin. A series of coffees /meetings will begin late January/early February where the Members will receive all the details on the construction, financial figures and timeline along with the opportunity to ask questions. Timber Trails Golf Center (Renovation): The Golf Center is one of the iconic images of the Lake Naomi Club. It was originally built as stables for an Equestrian Program in the early 70’s and in 1987 the building was converted to the Golf Pro Shop. The useful life of the building has expired. It was recognized in the Member Survey as an important amenity in their decision to buy property at Lake Naomi – Timber Trails and a significant number of the Members expressed a desire to make improvements. The current Pro Shop is not accessible for many Members, bag storage area is inadequate and the lack of insulation has made both hot and cold days uncomfortable for staff and Members alike.

• Maintain similar square footage as existing Pro Shop.

• Provide office space for Golf Pro. Install restrooms on the ground level.

Provide an area for ice machine and vending Develop an expanded golf bag and pull cart storage on the ground level. el.

Renovate the existing second level into a social area and rainy day practice actice space with simulator.

• Replace flooring and paint.

• Renovate and paint existing stairwell to the second level.

• Install a handicap lift to the second level of the building.

Develop an outdoor pavilion for golf events.

Timber Trails Clubhouse (TTCH) (Renovation): The Timber Trails Clubhouse, constructed in the late 1970’s, is a very tired facility and in need of renovation. Members concerns about the current bathroom and café facilities are expressed daily. While the upstairs social space is rented out for Member events the lack of heating/cooling and handicap accessibility has made it implausible for most functions.

Renovations to this facility will create additional demand for revenue generating functions and better serve Members using the Timber Trails Pool and Golf Course.

Renovate the upper level of the building.

• Develop a new entrance, install a handicap lift, making the entire building accessible.

• Install restrooms on the upper level.

• Design seating area to accommodate medium size events in a “sports bar” type atmosphere.

• Replace floor with a cleanable yet aesthetically pleasing surface.

• Replace windows, insulate where possible and provide adequate heat and air conditioning.

• Expand deck area for additional outdoor seating.

Renovate and expand the lower level cafe and restrooms to serve the clubhouse as well as the adjacent pool and tennis facilities.

• Expand kitchen area to service both the café operations and possible medium sized events upstairs.

• Allow space for installation of walk-in cooler and freezer.

• Combine existing locker rooms and bath rooms to make adequate restroom facilities with changing areas.

• Move access to restroom away from food service area.

• Ensure proper climate control to minimize wet/damp conditions.

• Make all surfaces cleanable and aesthetically appropriate for the Club.

Lake Naomi Club Q & A Is it true that the Archery Range will be moving inside for the winter months?

Yes! Due to the membership’s interest in the development of additional archery programs Lake Naomi Club has decided to move the archery range indoors for winter league shooting. The range will be set up in the multipurpose room on Tuesday nights for the first Lake Naomi Club Adult Winter Archery League.

The Adult Winter Archery League will begin January 14, 2014 and continue for 12 weeks. It will provide the opportunity to hone your skills and compete against others and yourself to win prizes and achievement awards. We will also keep our eye open for other opportunities to provide this fun year round activity to our members. How many days each year is the Community Center open?

Three Hundred and forty – eight.

The Community Center is only closed for the two week maintenance period in November, on Thanksgiving Day and on December 24th and 25th. With the exception of those seventeen days, the Community Center is open every day of the year.

On days when the Community Center closes at 5:00 PM, what time does the half price ($5.00) guest fee go into effect?

1:00 PM Will the bicycle-pedestrian paths along Route 423, Blockhouse Road and at the entrance to the Community Center be maintained during the winter months?

No. The paths are officially closed from November 15th through April 15th of each year. Members can continue to utilize the path at their own risk during this time period.

Members can also utilize the path at their own risk for cross country skiing.
