Lake Naomi Club Named as a Platinum Club of America Again!!!

Platinum Clubs® of America 2014 announces - The results are in. A record number of Club Managers, Presidents and Owners participated in the vote to select the 265 most respected Private Clubs in America. With new criterion, voting system and revised categories, as recommended by the Advisory Board, the 2014 edition of Platinum Clubs of America reaffirms its position as the preeminent Private Club recognition program in the nation. Clubs may only be recognized in one category. The Club's official name is the primary consideration for the appropriate category designation.

In 2012 the Lake Naomi Club was ranked as one of the top 25 Residential Communities by the Platinum Club of America. This year the organization has combiined Residential Communities and Country Clubs into one category. We are happy to report that LNC now has bragging rights as being ranked 53rd in the top 125 Country Clubs. The Platinum Club of America is the club equivalent of the Mobil Five Star Ratings. Selection as a Platinum Club of America, as the top 265 private clubs are designated, is an esteemed honor recognizing only the top 4% of the private clubs in the United States. Please see the Platinum Club Selection Criteria article on page 10 of this Reflections.

The Members of the Lake Naomi Club have long realized that Lake Naomi - Timber Trails is a platinum residential community and club. The Club Leaders Forum made it official back in 2009, 2012 and has made it official again in 2014.

Phase One has Begun Work on Phase One of the Horizon Plan, the renovation of the Timber Trails Golf Center along with the expansion and renovation of the Timber Trails Clubhouse, has begun! The nice Fall weather has permitted the contractors to remove part of the old “horse barn” from the Golf Center and begin the foundation work on both of the projects. As a safety precaution while construction is underway, we have changed the round of golf lf tto start t t att hhole l 3 and d end d on hhole l 22.

This will permit everyone to stay clear of the construction while still enjoying some outstanding Fall Golf. The check in process will stay the same as the golf shop is still operating normally. Special Thank You The finely operated amenities at LNC can not be successful without the help of Daily Supervisors. These folks are the glue to keeping the programs, events and daily operations both consistent and of the highest quality possible. Although various stafff members hold this responsibility at various timees, there are a few folks who deserve special recognition.

Club Beach Supervisor Dave Lawrence, Tennis Coordinator Margaret Hickey and Aquatics Director Frank Dekmar. Dave, Margaret and Frank do an absolutely exceptional job of keeping our Membership happy and safe.

On Sunday, September 14 the LNC sponsored their Fourth Car Show. Registration began at 10:30 AM at the Community Center and the car convoy arrived at the Clubhouse around 11:30 AM. Many Members young and old attended this great outdoor event. There were raffle baskets, 50/50 raffle, and lots of great food. “The omelet station was a huge hit and the sliders were delicious.” The Duster Bar was open and remained open until the last guests decided to leave. Despite Mother Nature forcing the Car Show to be postponed until Sunday, there were 25 great cars that participated in this event leaving 15 registered cars unable to attend. The newer cars, the antique cars, and even the smallest car were judged. A special thank you to Anthony and Mary Galletta for donating the raffle baskets - a total of $709 will be donated to the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Organization.

End of Season Staff ff are Key Players l As the end of summer was upon us the Club found themselves more and more dependent on the remaining staff to keep operations flowing with minimal hands available. The staff who remain through Labor Day MUST be recognized for their hard work work. Many individuals worked overtime, in different departments, split shifts and whatever else was required to keep amenities running. Thank you to the dedicated staff Members who are responsible for the end of season success of LNC.

The latest word from the publisher is that we should receive the he 200 page “Lake Naomi Club Profiles and Reflections” sometime me mid-October. In honor of the Lake Naomi Club’s 50th Anniversary, y, the Board of Governors has given approval for each Membership to o receive one book for free of charge. Also, any Member who sponsored a page will receive an additional free book for each page they sponsored. Additional books may be purchased for $10.00 each while supplies last. A perfect gift for the Holidays! Keep watching for the eblast announcing that the books are in and ready for or pick-up.

Community Center Maintenance The Community Center is scheduled to be closed for major maintenance each year the two weeks prior to Thanksgiving week. In 2014 the Community Center will be closed only one week - Monday, November 10th through Friday, November 15th. Members will be notified via the weekly email blast in the event there is a change in the dates of the Community Center close down.

Administrative Office Closed Sundays The Administrative Office will be closed Sundays beginning October 19, 2014 through February 22, 2015. The Administrative Office will resume the seven day a week schedule on Sunday, March 1, 2015. To better serve the skiers and snowboarders, ski vouchers will be sold at the Community Center starting early December. The ski vouchers will then be available for purchase any time the Community Center is open through the end of February. Start your ski weekend early by purchasing your ski vouchers at the Community Center Friday Nights until 10:00 PM.

Columbus Day Weekend Join us for an entertaining evening of comedy and music as we welcome Joey Vincent to Lake Naomi Club on Sunday, October 12th at the Clubhouse. The cocktail hour and cash bar will be from 5:30 PM with Chef’s Assorted Italian Appetizer Table. Dinner will begin at 6:15 PM with Italian Pasta and Prime Rib buffet. You will get to enjoy wedding soup; traditional Italian salad bar; create your own Italian pasta or pizza with vegetarian toppings, shrimp, mussels and chorizo sausage; carving station with Angus Prime Beef Au Jus and horseradish cream; Italian lasagna, meatballs and traditional fish and chicken items; ending with tiramisu cake.

The entertainment begins at 8:00 PM with the Joey Vincent Show. No matter what your taste in entertainment, the Joey Vincent Show has something for everyone. More than just music, more than just comedy, his show is fresh and original! Fast-paced humor, rapid-fire costume change, impressions, and a musical tribute to the trumpet greats are just part of the fun. Harvest Ball H The Lake Naomi Club’s Harvest Ball will be Saturday, Octob 25th beginning at 6 PM at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. Show ber off o your pumpkin decorating skills by participating in the adults only on pumpkin carving and pumpkin painting contest. There will be b prizes for the top five people’s choice awards. Bring your art iin on Friday F id or S Saturday t d night for display. The festivities will begin at 6:00 PM with a cash bar cocktail hour that includes one complimentary cocktail or Pumpkin beer. Dinner begins at 7:00 PM with Chef Paul’s Harvest Menu Appetizer Station which features made-to-order potato pancakes with traditional toppings such as smoked salmon, capers, sour cream, chives, and freshly made applesauce from the MTL’s three apple tree. There will be a harvest house salad with bread basket, harvest soup and of course a special harvest dessert! Please place the order by Thursday, November 20th. You will be asked to confirm your pick-up time for Thursday, November 27th between 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Meal includes: whole roasted tom turkey breast, whipped mash and sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, carrots, green beans, bowl of garden salad with two dressings, and one pumpkin pie. From Weddings, Anniversary Celebrations, Birthday Parties, Baby Showers, Bridal Showers, Holiday Parties or just about any occasion to get together with family and friends, our Clubhouse Team is on hand to customize and help make your event a special one. Visit the Community Center Café The Community Center Café is open year-round and offers another option for those Members wanting something to eat without a long drive. If you’ve never taken a moment to look at the menu, why not make a point to stop in this season. As expected, the Café serves the usual burgers, chicken tenders and fries, but also has many healthier options. There is a selection of salads, wraps, sandwiches and flatbreads as well as protein smoothies to revive you after that long workout. They also look forward to offering a revolving menu this winter that will take advantage of different ingredients to keep the options interesting.

Normal hours of operation are Friday and Saturday from 11:30 AM until 7:00 PM and Sundays from 11:30 AM until 4:45 PM. The Community Center Café also offers extended hours during all holiday weekends. Don’t have time to sit and eat? That’s okay.

You can always order to take home or call 570-646-8585 and they will have it ready to go when you arrive.

Family Halloween Festifall Bring out the whole family to join us in celebrating the beautiful fall colors and spooky fall nights with this annual event. On Saturday, October 25th at the Logan Steele Community Center there will be an outside carnival with games, crafts, bouncy house, and more! You can paint a pumpkin or launch a pumpkin then have a hot cookout meal while enjoying some cider. There will be a Costume Contest for the kids, or the whole family can enter the car in a Trunk-or-Treat decoration contest. Bring your best Jack-O-Lantern to be judged in the Pumpkin Carving Contest! Don’t forget to jump on a tractor drawn hayride which can lead you to the Haunted Forest! After dark the Haunted Forest will make a terrifying transformation and be invaded by monstrous beings; the faint of heart need to be warned....

Adult A d lt S Socials i l and dG Good dN Neighbor i hb G Gatherings th i LNC Seniors deserve to live their golden years comfortable and productive. The Members and Management Team at LNC recognizes the need for a network of neighbors who support our seniors in their time of need. Our Members request was to start a recreational activity program in which challenged folks could get out of the house, enjoy some activities, be with other people, and allow care-giver/spouse time to get away. The Community Center Staff will organize gatherings on Wednesdays from 3-4:30 PM in the game room at LSCC through the off season. This room will be closed to children during this time.

Activities may include but are not limited to board and card games, puzzles, movies, physical activities such as air hockey, pool, ping pong, cornhole, or jenga. Use of the fitness center and multipurpose room are also available but will not be closed to other members during the 90 minute program. Beginning in January, the first Wednesday of each month we will host Adult Socials in place of the afternoon gathering from 5-8PM. The socials will include a light meal and themed activity for a cost of $12 per person.

Arts & Crafts Show We would like to thank the community for the support you gave to this year’s Fine Arts and Craft Show. Once again the LNC Members made this day a success. We were thrilled to present to the Top of the Mountain Ecumenical Food Pantry a check for $5,400. Once again, we thank you, the community, the Activities Committee and the Management Team for facilitating this great activity.

We are asking you to mark your calendars for Saturday, August 1, 2015 and join us again next year.

Local Food Bank Needs Replenishing The Activities Committee is continuing to collect donations for the local food bank.

The following non-perishable items can be dropped at the Community Center: canned fruits and vegetables, rice, pasta, spaghetti sauce, tuna, peanut butter, jelly, cake mix, juice, coffee, tea, soap, detergent and paper products. This collection will be ongoing through the Winter and Spring in the hopes that we can stock the food bank full of the items needed for our local community.

Family New Year’s Eve Party Join us this year at the Logan Steele Community Center for the Ninth Annual Family New Year’s Eve Party. This will be an alcohol free event with entertainment to keep the entire family busy. So think of Lake Naomi and Timber Trails when you are making your New Year’s Eve plans! Casino Night Returns!

The Activities Committee will bring back the popular Casino Night to the Clubhouse on Saturday November 8, 2014. This year’s theme is Roaring Twenties! Flappers and gangsters, mark your calendars now and look for details at the Community Center.

Game Nights Anyone interested in playing card games or mah jongg can join in at the Community Center. Mah Jongg meets on Mondays and Fridays from 1– 4 PM and Wednesdays at 7 PM, bridge players meet Tuesday evenings at 6:45 PM and Thursday afternoon at 2 PM, pinnocle players meet on Tuesdays at 7 PM and Canasta will continue this Fall on Thursdays at 2 PM. Book Club The Book Club meets regularly on the second Monday of the month at 1:00 PM at the Community Center and is always open to new participants. Everyone is welcome – even if you haven’t read the book. The discussions of course talk about the book, writing style and if it was favorable to everyone’s tastes, but does nnot give the plot away. This is a great way to get introduced to a variety w oof books that you may never have llooked at otherwise.

Discounts On Ski Tickets Lake Naomi Club Members will again be able to purchase discounted lift tickets to Jack Frost/Big Boulder ski areas. Ticket "Vouchers" will be on sale at the Community Center beginning in early December if mother nature allows. Be sure to check the End-of-Fall Issue of Reflections for more details.

Columbus Weekend Recreation Activities Join us on Columbus Weekend Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th at the Logan Steele Community Center for the following events and programs: Saturday, October 11th Archery Range Hours Open Shoot 12 PM and 1 PM These open shoots will be free of charge and will be on a first come first serve basis. Each session of introduction and instruction will begin on the hour; participants arriving after the start or once the group is full will be asked to wait until that next session.

Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Advanced Shoot 2 PM Advanced shoot is only open to archers who know how to shoot proficiently and are 10 years of age and older.

Night Recreation will be offered from 6:00-10:00 PM. Third graders and up are welcome to join in a night of fun that our staff will be organizing.

Sunday, October 12th Archery Tournament 1 PM - $8 - Adults and children 10 years and up only.

Pre-registration is required and begins Saturday October, 11, 2014 at 7 PM at the Community Center. You must be a proficient shooter; no instruction will be provided. Prizes awarded to the top three competitors.

Family Ceramics will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM. Always a favorite!

No one is too young or too old for this great family activity. There is a $5 sitting fee as well as the individual cost of molds ranging from $2-$10.

Movie Night on the Lawn will be held from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Community Center. Bring a blanket and/or chairs and come enjoy a movie on the big inflatable screen! Bundle up and enjoy a nice cool fall evening in the Poconos. (Members under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times) Night Recreation will be offered from 6:00-10:00 PM. Third graders and up are welcome to join in a night of fun that our staff will be organizing.

Fitness News The Fitness Department was very busy again this Summer. Record numbers of participants joined the group exercise classes. We love to hear your suggestions for new classes and be sure to let us know your favorites so they can continue. Look for current class schedules at the front desk of the Community Center. The Fitness Committee is working closely with Management to continue to strategize options that will improve our spacing issues during the busy months. Please help us by reading the Horizon Plan publications and getting your suggestions and comments to the Committee Members.

Be sure to check out Circuit Training offered by Jeff Husick this Fall. Jeff has been introducing Members to the Fitness Center with his complimentary orientation since the building opened and is continuing a FREE Circuit Training Program again this fall. Join Jeff in the Fitness Center on Thursdays anytime between 5:00-7:00 PM. Look for details on our Fall Turkey Trot to raise funds for Toys for Tots on Thanksgiving weekend. We will use the Community Center Leisure trail for a brisk 3 mile Run/Walk. A great way to burn off the turkey dinner and pumpkin pie!

Indoor Tennis Play The Multi-Purpose Room in the Logan Steele Community Center has the following times and spaces available for indoor tennis reservations this fall: Monday through Friday: Bay 1 (with the windows to the back of the CC) is available for play from 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM. Court times are for 1½ hours and begin as follows: 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM, Noon, 1:30 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:30 PM, and 6:00 PM. Bay 2 (with basketball) is available for reservation and play from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM as follows: 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM. At 2:00 PM that room is turned over to Multipurpose use.

The same schedule applies on Saturday except Bay one has extended time due to the longer facility hours and closing at 10:00 PM. That means there is a 7:30 PM time also available. On Sunday there is no 6:00 PM time because the building closes at 5:00 PM. *PLEASE NOTE, on Holiday Weekends the overall Multi-Purpose Room Schedule will be subject to modification based on Club functions and court times will be reduced to 1 hour to accommodate as many Members as possible.

Platform Tennis Season Platform Tennis is a winter sport that was created to replace tennis play so greatly missed during the months of inclement weather. With cooler temperatures coming quickly outdoor play is not over!

LNC Members should be gearing up to play Platform Tennis at the Community Center.

The Platform Tennis court is skid-resistant with a heating system underneath to melt the snow and ice prior to play. The court is one fourth the size of a tennis court and is enclosed by a twelve foot high taut wire screen which is an enclosure as well as play area. The Platform rules state you’re permitted to play the ball off the fencing walls which is both a major difference from traditional tennis and very fun!

This sport is easy to learn and suitable for men and women of all ages and abilities. The APTA (American Platform Tennis Association) offers both Junior and Adult League and Tournament play in all populated areas including Philadelphia, New York and throughout New Jersey.

Racquets and balls are available for check out at the Reception Desk. Athletic shoes are the only other item required to play, however, eye protection is highly recommended. All Members are permitted to play and there are no court fees associated with Platform Tennis. Courts are available for walk on play, but reservations can be made in advance by contacting the Community Center receptionist. The Reception Desk also keeps a Platform Highlights sheet as well as the Official Rules for Members who wish to use them.

Congratulations Swim Team The 2014 swimmers had an enjoyable and successful season. Thanks to the enthusiastic coaching of Lacey, Kevin, David, Brandon, and of course Head Coach Liz Kelso.

The coaches focused a lot on building the team, beyond the expected efforts to improve stroke and times. Not only did the kids swimming progress, but all the swimmers had fun, and after all it is about the fun! On Friday, August 1st all swimmers were honored with a pizza party and awards ceremony. Five swimmers won special awards for their exceptional effort throughout the summer season. The Elizabeth Duerr Award was given for being an all-around good sport to Samantha Maybrown. The Most Improved Female Award was given to Gracie Kaplan. The Most Improved Male was received by Luke Sperling. The Sportsmanship Female Award went to Martina Cappellano and the Sportsmanship Male was awarded to Michael Anastasi. Special recognition was also given to Team Captains Maddie DeMarco and Marcus Uberti for all their efforts with the Team. Congratulations 2014 swimmers and award recipients!

The Aquatics Department would like to say THANK YOU to all the parents who volunteer to run swim team competitive meets.

There is an extraordinary amount of work involved in a swim team meet which goes far beyond the amenity preparations the coaches do to prepare. The numerous tasks requiring many hands during the meet would not be possible without our volunteer parents.

Parents perform the following for each home meet: Announcer, Starter, Timers, Runners, Lane Judges, Score keepers, Ribbon Writers and general organizers. That totals anywhere between 18-22 parents to volunteer at every home meet AND 15–18 are needed for some of the above at all away meets. That is a lot of people! THANK YOU to all of you who lend your time for the kids of LNC. A special THANK YOU also goes out to Shannon Kaplan for being the point person for organizing all the volunteers. It’s not an easy task finding enough people to help at each meet. Thank you LNC parents, we appreciate you all!

LN Pool Special Events 2014 Pool Special Events included the annual Big Splash Party which was this year moved to August and included many different activities the entire family could enjoy. A pie baking contest was featured and the traditional Big Splash competition ended the day with both kids and adults flipping and tricking their way to try to win the coveted trophy and title for the season.

Members of all ages came to the pool in Christmas hats etc for the first Christmas in July Pool Party, which was complete with carols, turkey dinner and a visit from Santa.

Horseracing took on a reindeer theme and as always for the only time of the summer took actual bets as this money was collected for the LN-TT Breast Cancer Rally. This year horseracing earned over $700 for the cause.

Save Your Membership Identification Cards If you plan to use your home in Lake Naomi and Timber Trails between Labor Day and May 1st of 2015, it is imperative that you save your 2014 Membership Identification Cards. These cards are required in the Fall, Winter and Spring when you or members of your family are utilizing any of the Lake Naomi Club facilities or to participate in the winter activities at the Community Center and the Lake Naomi Clubhouse.

Remember Monroe County It is the time of year where many companies sponsor annual campaigns for various charities. As you are participating in the campaign and deciding how much you would like to contribute, consider designating some of the funds to go to Monroe County - your second home. Monroe County Social Agencies like all other counties are always in need of funds.

However Monroe County does not have the corporate base like the metropolitan areas do, so your dollars would have a significant impact in Monroe County.

Great Tennis Highlights in 2014 The summer 2014 tennis season was full of fun, family, and fitness! I want to thank all of you who supported the programs, supported us, and who participated in the great game of tennis.

Our tennis staff throughout the summer season worked with many tennis playing members. A total of 245 different juniors were involved in clinics and lessons. A total of 170 different adults were involved in clinics and lessons.

Many were new players, either new to the game, or new to the Lake Naomi Club community. Of course, we are always looking for ways to improve what we offer, and we are in the process of evaluating our programs and planning for next season. Any thoughts and suggestions are always welcome.

Club Tennis Tournaments 2014 As the 2014 tennis season draws to a close, we would like to recognize our Club Championship Tournament players. At the Adult level, we again used the two-flight format and had many new players join the competition. The Adult Singles Tournament was held over two weekends early in the season followed by the Adult Doubles Tournament held in its entirety the following weekend. We had numerous spectators for all rounds of play and especially great attendance for stadium court finals. Our Junior Tournament saw an increase in players and we hope to keep that trend going next season. Recognition and awards for all tournaments were given on Sunday, August 17th at our End of Tournament Celebration held at the Community Center pavilion. Tennis Fall Season Operating Hours The Timber Trails Tennis Complex is closed for the season. The Recreation Tennis Courts will continue to be unlocked from 8:00 AM until dusk until weather conditions no longer permit.

The Lake Naomi Tennis Center Pro Shop will be staffed from 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM on Saturdays and Sundays through Columbus Day. Court reservations for weekend play may be left on the Pro Shop answering machine at 570-646-7580 on the Friday preceding play beginning at 10:00 AM. Please leave your name, all the Members on your court, your desired play time, and a contact phone number.

Calls will be returned ONLY if there is a conflict with your request.

When the Pro Shop is not open, courts may not be reserved for use but will be available for “walk on” play. A listing of available courts will be posted on the Pro Shop door for Members and their eligible Guests to “walk on.” Members are reminded to bring their Membership ID and to abide by Club Policies regarding Dress Code, Court Usage Guidelines and Court Etiquette. Members are also asked to sign-in at the podium by the Pro Shop door to show accurate court usage. After Columbus Day some of the Har-Tru courts may be left for Members to continue with “walk on and self maintain play”, de depending on the fr freeze-thaw cycl cle.

Radio Controlled Laser Regatta Results The RC Laser fleet’s outdoor racing season is held at the Administrative Office Marina — so the activities aren't all that visible. Most scheduled days are filled with practice sailing and race starts while socializing on shore and introducing bystanders to RC Laser sailing. All are welcom to try out a boat.

A Summer Regatta is scheduled one weekend each summer, this season was August 9th which involved 18 races — lower than normal due to the changing wind patterns. The participants were Sue and Dean Neely, Joan and Larry Lefczik, Rich Daggett, Ryan Spencer, Abbey Spector, and John Whipple (Fleet Captain). Dean took the Third Place Trophy, John the Second, and Larry showed us all how to race, taking the First Place Trophy.

Many thanks to Tony Seay for being the PRO (Primary Race Officer); Fran Whipple for scorekeeping; and Fran and Sue for providing snacks, water, and sandwiches.

Watch for the Summer 2015 schedule and come see what it is all about. RC racing is also held in the winter! In the pool! Watch for that schedule as well. The format is the same — mostly casual sailing and practicing starts — culminating with the World Indoor Sailing Championship in March. We attract some world class RC sailors for this event.

Last Sailing Opportunities On Saturday, September 13th sailors were rained out of the last scored regatta of the season appropriately named “The Frostbite Regatta.” Heavy rain and 47 degree temps in the morning made it a less than inviting day, so not even the “die hards” made it onto the water.

The last organized sailing opportunity for the season is on Saturday, October 11th when sailors will be gathering for an informal social sail to enjoy the lake’s fall beauty. No registration is necessary however an email sent to msensenig@lakenaomiclub.com would be appreciated, just so we know how many boats to expect. Start time is Noon at Club Beach near the sailing marina. Enjoy the late season sailing!

2014 Ladies Team Tennis Results The 2014 Ladies Team Tennis competition had fifty-two regular players and six substitute players rounding out four teams for five great weeks of play and not a single rain-out!

Our theme this year was Girl Bands and Team captains Kathy DeMeo, Naja Slipsager, Cathy Zabrowski, and Rebekah Zelman, along with Committee Member Karen Stark did a fabulous job organizing and managing their teams. The Supremes were announced as the 2014 winners at the Team Tennis Luncheon held at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse on August 15th. All the ladies enjoyed a variety of delicious entrees while celebrating the camaraderie and competition of a successful season. 2014 Duster National Regatta Lake Naomi Duster Sailors held their 69th Annual National Regatta over the August 16th and 17th weekend. A great weekend of sailing was had by all.

Final skipper placement for the two day regatta were as follows: Jason Neely was awarded the Admiral Halsey Trophy for taking first place in the Regatta.

LNC Softball 2014 The Lake Naomi Softball Club concluded another fantastic season over Labor Day Weekend. 2014 was another exciting summer for the league!

This year the team enjoyed an expanded outfield, cutout infield and new pop out safety base. In addition to all of these enhancements, many new players came out to make the games a great success.

For those interested in playing in 2015, the season will kick off Sunday June 28th at the field behind the Community Center with batting practice beginning around 10:00 AM and the game at 11:00 AM. Teams are chosen on the field each week, with a mission of making that day's contest fun, competitive and of course, safe for everyone; kids and those whom just feel like a kid!

Fall Trout Stocking As part of the annual stocking program conducted by the Lakes Committee, brown and rainbow trout will be stocked in the Upper Tunkhannock Stream above and below the lake on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Any Members and Guests interested in assisting in the stocking should meet at the Administrative Office at 8:00 AM. Please note, although the Club does stock trout, there are specific regulations regarding trout fishtr ing that must be followed. Trout are strictly catch and in release from the first Saturday in September through re the last Saturday in February. There is no trout fishing th from Saturday, March 28, 2015 through the 2015 Season fr Opening Day on April 18th. All fisherpersons must wear O a current Membership ID along with their Pennsylvania Fishing F License (required of all 16 years of age and older).

Deadline D eadline ffor or R Removal emoval ooff W Watercraft from Racks: Monday, October 13th The Water's Edge Boat Racks, Canoe/Kayak Racks and Floating Dock rental period expires on Monday, October 13th. This means that all watercraft must be removed from the racks by this date and taken to private storage or moved to one of the Club’s hitching posts. Hitching posts are available at West Beach or Tall Timber Lake. Boats on hitching posts may remain until the boating season ends on November 15th. Any watercraft left on any racks after October 13th or on Hitching Posts after November 15th will be removed and delivered to the owner's property. The service fee for watercraft removal is $100.00. No special storage arrangements will be made, this is simply an effort to get the boats off club property in a timely manner.

Please Don’t Feed the Ducks Although one of the wonders of Lake Naomi and Timber Trails is living in nature, we have to report there can be down sides to this harmony…

The Mallard Ducks on the beaches have become very accustomed to living among humans – mainly because our humans are feeding them. The problem with this situation is the feces that follows the feeding.

PLEASE don’t contribute to them reducing our swim areas water quality! Thank you!

Hunting In Lake Naomi and Timber Trails Hunting is not permitted in Lake Naomi or Timber Trails. Members entering the State Game Lands via Lake Naomi and Timber Trails property must wear a 2014 Membership ID. Do not park on roads in Lake Naomi or Timber Trails to enter the State Game Lands. Park at Lake Naomi or Timber Trails facility parking lots only. Remember when hunting in the State Game Lands stay a minimum of 150 yards from any home. Do not trespass on private property. Enter the State Game Lands via Greenbelt Areas oonly. Please, for your safety and tthe safety of others, observe the aabove rules. Respect private propeerty and the views of others.

Meet Me at the Lodge What a whirlwind of a summer! Thank you to everyone who came out for our events. It was great to see you at music night, watching a movie on the lawn, participating in a canvas painting class or bringing one of your young bakers to a Kids in the Kitchen event. We have enjoyed seeing your pictures and posts that were placed on the MTL Facebook page. If you have feedback or ideas for future Lodge programming, please let us know.

Here are some of the things that we already have coming up....

You asked and we listened....now we need your support. If you haven't heard the news yet, Lunch is now being served at the Mountaintop Lodge. Each day from 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM we will offer a menu featuring creative sandwiches, scrumptious salads and delicious soups. Soups will change daily while the sandwiches and salads will stay the same for a week. Make plans with your friends and come see what's on the menu.

October brings cooler air (although here in the Poconos it's been chilly since August!) and richer flavors. All kinds of pumpkin treats plus apples, pears and cranberries too.

Mark your calendars for the Pumpkin Carving at the Lodge on Sunday, October 26th.

We'll "plant" plenty of pumpkins in the front yard for you to "pick" and then have carving tools and patterns available to create your masterpiece. This event is open to any age.

Please call to sign up so there will be plenty of pumpkins for everyone. Choose a time that works best... 1:00 PM, 2:30 PM or 4:00 PM. Also this month Poke-A-Nose Pottery will be back with a Wine and Design canvas painting party on Sunday, October 12th. It's a Fall Leaves theme and each painter will go home with their completed painting in under three hours. No experience is needed- it's a painting anyone can complete.

The next adult cooking class is on Thursday, October 30th at 6:00 PM. In keeping with the Fall theme we will be making Apple Cake with a Toffee Crust and Pumpkin Gingersnap Tiramisu. The cost will be $25.00 per participant and you'll take home two complete desserts. Again, sign-ups are needed in advance, so we have enough ingredients.

Winter Festival Mark your calendar LNC’s Fifth Annual Winter Festival is scheduled for Friday, January 23, 2015 to Sunday, January 25, 2015. We have had great family fun each year, regardless of weather. Snow or no snow all the Members have enjoyed the festivities. The weekend will start off with a Kick Off Night at the Community Center. Special activities that are in the planning stages include: story time, arts & crafts, games, building gingerbread houses, special night for the kids at the CC, special night for the adults at the LNCH, Après Ski Happy Hour, Sunday Breakfast Buffet, sledding, snowman contest and a special Fitness Event. Back by popular demand we will be holding the Cardboard Bobsled contest! For the skiers and snowboarders there will be group rates available for Jack Frost/ Big Boulder Ski Areas. The Temporary Membership fee for a family will be $50 for three days and all guest fees will be waived this weekend. The guest limit will remain in effect with four guests per Family Membership per day. Members are all invited to participate in this fun filled weekend.

Invite your friends and family members so they too can enjoy all the activities.
