Home Run with Phase One The Club would like to thank the Members for supporting Phase One of the Horizon Plan; the new enhancements were a huge hit! Members of all ages enjoyed the new aquatics climbing wall and enhancements around the Timber Trails Pool. Total Timber Trails pool attendance for the 2015 increased by 11,000 members compared to previous years.

The Timber Trails Clubhouse received rave reviews from the Members with the light menu and relaxed atmosphere. The staff did a wonderful job servicing everyone for lunch, dinner and special events including the Pool Luau, Junior Club Night and Thursday night themed Girls Night. The Management team will be addressing the acoustic challenges over the winter. The Timber Trails Clubhouse is available for private off season parties. The new pro shop at the Timber Trails Golf Center proved to be another great addition to the Club’s amenities. The Members enjoyed the new features th and supported the Golf Operations more than ever. Rounds of an ggolf were up on a daily bbasis as well as Membbers’ golf events. Administrative Office Closed Sundays The Administrative Office will be closed Sundays beginning October 18, 2015 through February 28, 2016. The Administrative Office will resume the seven day a week schedule on Sunday, March 6, 2016. To better serve the skiers and snowboarders, ski vouchers will be sold at the Community Center starting early December.

The ski vouchers will then be available for purchase any time the Community Center is open through the end of February. Start your ski weekend early by purchasing asing your ski vouchers at the Community Center Friday Nights until 10:00 PM.

Deadline for Removal of Watercraft from Racks The Water's Edge Boat Racks, Canoe/Kayak Racks and Floating Dock rental period expires on Monday, October 12th. This means that all watercraft must be removed from the racks by this date and taken to private storage or moved to one of the Club’s hitching posts. Hitching posts are available at West Beach or Tall Timber Lake. Boats on hitching posts may remain until the boating season ends on November 15th. Any watercraft left on any racks after October 12th or on Hitching Posts after November 15th will be removed and delivered to the owner's property. The service fee for watercraft removal is $100.00. No special storage arrangements will be made, this is simply an effort to get the boats off club property in a timely manner.

Stored Value does not Transfer to 2016 ID Card Many Members have taken advantage of adding value to their Membership ID card instead of carrying a separate Stored Value Card. Please remember that the value added to your 2015 Membership ID card will NOT automatically transfer to your 2016 ID card.

Therefore, we recommend that you spend any value you have on your 2015 ID card prior to getting your 2016 ID card. If a Member still has value on their 2015 ID card, it can be transferred to their 2016 card but only if the card in still in their possession.

Website Reminders W Please remember to keep your email address up-tod date on the Club’s website. In addition to our Newsletter Weekly Updates we send out important emails le when Mother Nature has blanketed us with a significant w la layer of snow, ice or water. We have also sent out inform mation concerning prolonged power outages. So stay informed and keep your email address current on the website. To change your email address, simply sign in to the Member’s Section of the website and click on My Profile which is found in the upper right corner. Then select edit my profile, here you will see all your profile information. Click on the edit button next to your name and then update your email address.

Special Family Members - If you are a Special Family Member you have the same access to the Member’s Section of the website and you can create your own sign-in name and password. To do this once you are in the Member Section select “Sign Up” under New User? Sign Up Today…. On the next screen you will fill out all of your information including your own Sign In Name and password. It is that easy! So Special Family Members sign up today!!

Special Email Groups – The Management Team wants to keep you involved in your favorite activities. There is a large selection of email groups you can hear from in addition to the Newsletter Weekly Updates. Columbus Day Weekend If this Summer is anything to go by, Columbus Day Weekend will be fast approaching too, and it is never too early to let you know that this year we will be hosting the wonderful Ken McBride at Lake Naomi Clubhouse!!!! He is going to be joining us on Sunday, October 11th where he will be performing in the Main Dining Room. He has travelled all over Florida, New Jersey and performed in New York City. His performance extends from Frank Sinatra and Billy Joel to Broadway’s “Phantom of the Opera”.

This year for the dinner, we will be keeping with the theme that his music puts across, New York City!! Halloween Halloween this year will be hosted by the Lions Club and will be at the Lake N Naomi Clubhouse on Saturday, October 31st. So bring your scariest self over and have a spooky night of fun with cocktails scary enough to make you want to dance the night away, tailored by our wonderful bartenders. We will also have Chef Paul Guthy creating a menu filled with ghouls and spirits to shock your system. We look forward to having you join us. Thanksgiving To start off this year’s Thanksgiving events we will once again provide LNC’s Turkey Dinner To-Go Orders! For just a low price of $118 Chef Paul and his team will provide a full course Thanksgiving Feast that will feed 6-8 people. Just pick-up your box and bring it home so you can enjoy the meal in the comfort of your home. The meal includes: whole roasted turkey breast, roasted cod fish, whipped mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, honey glazed carrots, green beans, garden salad and two dressings, cranberry sauce and gravy, and one pumpkin pie.

There will be no substitutions.

Please place your order by Thursday, Nov. 19th by calling 570-646-2866. You will be asked to confirm your pick up time for Thursday, Nov. 26th between 11:30AM and 3PM. We will also be hosting a Thanksgiving Brunch at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse on Thursday, November 26th, from 12PM-3PM. Seating will be every 30 minutes. This way you can enjoy this wonderful holiday without worrying about any of the cleanup.

The meal will begin with a harvest salad bar & soup station with Chef’s butternut squash and apple bisque. The carving station will feature whole roasted turkey with herb gravy and cranberry relish. The buffet line will include sliced sirloin with sherry and wild mushroom jus, roasted black cod, mashed potatoes, sweet potato soufflé, honey glazed carrots and green beans. There will be a Kids Station with macaroni & cheese and some additional kid’s favorites. What would Thanksgiving be without pumpkin pie, as well as other desserts from the Mountaintop Lodge Bakery?

Breakfast B reakfast w with ith S Santa anta Christmas is fast approaching and Lake Naomi Club’s Breakfast Buffet with Santa will be offered both Saturday, December 5th and Sunday, December 6th. Feast on a delicious breakfast including: carved smoked ham, made to order omelet station, eggs benedict, belgium waffles & french toast, fresh fruit, corned beef hash, applewood smoked bacon, sausage, assorted fruit juice and coffee. During breakfast, Santa will be making his rounds to entertain children of all ages and afterwards the children can enjoy making a holiday craft.

VIP Studios will be on hand for anyone who would like to purchase professional portraits with Santa or with the family by the fireplace! Holiday Gala This year our Holiday Gala will be held on Saturday, December 12th, starting at 6:30 PM. Come and enjoy our Lake Naomi Winter Wonderland filled with great food and fellowship! The Culinary Brigade will feature a variety of delectable dinner items that will surely please and tease your taste buds.

New Year’s Eve This year we are sure to go into 2016 with a bang! As we say “Bon Voyage” to 2015, Lake Naomi Club will be holding the New Year’s Eve party at the Main Clubhouse, hosted by the House Committee. The theme this year will be “The Love Boat” and there will be plenty of entertainment and dancing. “Passengers are invited for a romantic night aboard the LNC where we will travel to tropical mysterious lands! Our Lake Naomi Staff will be sure to be on hand to help make this evening the romantic evening it was always meant to be, because according to “The Love Boat”, love always wins and we will ensure you leave satisfied!

Casino Night Returns!

The Activities Committee will bring back the popular Casino Night to the Clubhouse on Saturday November 14, 2015. This year’s theme is Celebrity Style! LNC is going Hollywood, dress as your favorite movie star – past or present! Mark your calendars now and look for details at the Community Center. Pre-registration will be required.

Summer 2015 – International Program What a whirlwind of a Summer! This year started out with more rain than anyone would have liked but luckily for us that disappeared fast! This Summer we had far more Internationals joining us from other Country Clubs and Restaurants from the state of Florida. We had some from South Africa, the Philippines, England, Ukraine, and Argentina. Their presence here was everlasting, and they brought such high standards to our Club which made the entire dining experience worthwhile.

The Internationals brought many different skills to each department they were in and excelled so well. They all hail from different countries, so we had the pleasure of meeting and learning what they have learned and what skills they could pass on to the other staff. Our servers in the Lake Naomi Clubhouse consisted of Dane, Claudette, Kim, Grizelda and Wesley. They did so well and always brought the highest standard to our dining rooms. They worked alongside our other staff, showing them the ways they had been taught at their respective Clubs, helping everyone to hone their skills too.

Sue was front-of- house and always eager to greet our Members as they came in. Her bubbly personality and excellent Food & Beverage skills were a great asset to this Club.

Our bartender, Anna from Ukraine, always brought a smile to everyone’s face, making our Members experience at the Duster Bar a great one. In the kitchen we had David and Ariadna from Argentina. David was our expeditor and kept the kitchen extremely organized and showed us such skill in ensuring a smoothly run service. Ariadna was our sauté chef, and she too had immense skill in the kitchen, and was always on hand to help enhance the skills of the other chefs in the kitchen. Adele was a great addition to the Cafes, running the Beach Café with a small team from the Pocono Pines area. She did a fantastic job and the Members thoroughly enjoyed her spirited personality and her ability to run a well-organized team which did not go unnoticed by the Members. Over at Timber Trails Clubhouse, we had Darren from South Africa running a wonderfully put together team! Darren’s outgoing and welcoming personality brought so much joy to the Timber Trails Clubhouse. Our Members not only enjoyed the new Club facility but also always enjoyed their dining experience. Craygen and JD from South Africa, and Mary, Ollie and Angelica from the Philippines were servers rounding out the Timber Trails Clubhouse team. They all had such finesse when serving, and just like the Lake Naomi Clubhouse servers, perfected the skills of others around them.

All the International staff showed us such high standards and the ability to handle themselves with such grace during our busiest times!! We were extremely lucky to have had them with us this Summer and we all hope to see them again next year.

Battle of Two Cities – A Clubhouse Committee Event On Sunday night, August 30, close to 100 people gathered at the LNC Clubhouse to enjoy a friendly competition between two great cities - New York and Philadelphia.

They dined on regional favorites, expertly prepared by Chef Paul, such as Hot Dogs with Sabrette's Red Onion Sauce, Philly Cheesesteak, New York Style Pizza, Soft Pretzzels, and much, much more. There were even TastyKakes in the house! The music of Dion and the Belmonts, Frank Sinatra, Frankie Avalon and other artists who once called D New York and Philly home entertained the crowd.

N The highlight of the evening was a Trivia Contest entitled " Philadelphia, New York or Neither". Frank Dekmar, ably assisted by his wife Kathy, served as Master of CeremoN nnies. Supporters of the two cities gathered on the dance floor to cheer on the contestants.

T Tim Brooks, LNC Operations Manager, provided questions that definitely challenged everyone's e knowledge of New York and Philadelphia sports, entertainment, and geography. r The competition was loud and fierce, but always friendly. The Philadelphians b bested the New Yorkers, but you can bet that fans of " The City That Never Sleeps " will be b looking for a rematch.

Arts & Crafts Show We would like to thank the community for the support you gave to this year’s Fine Arts and Craft Show. The LNC Members made this day a big success. We were thrilled to present to the Top of the Mountain Ecumenical Council a check for $5,522.00. Once again, we thank you the community, the Activities Committee and the Management Team for facilitating this great activity.

Book Club The Book Club meets regularly on the second Monday of the month at 1:00 PM at the Community Center and is always open to new participants.

Everyone is welcome – even if you haven’t read the book. The discussions of course talk about the book, writing style and if it was favorable to everyone’s tastes, but does not give the plot away. This is a great way to get introduced to a variety of books that you may never have looked at otherwise.

Game Nights Anyone interested in playing card games or mah jongg can join in at the Community Center. Mah Jongg meets on Mondays and Fridays from 1– 4 PM and Wednesdays at 7 PM, bridge players meet Tuesday evenings at 6:45 PM and Thursday afternoon at 2 PM, pinnocle players meet on Tuesdays at 7 PM, and Canasta will continue this fall on Thursdays at 2 PM. Adult Socials Beginning in February the first Wednesday of each month we will host Adult Socials in place of the afternoon gathering from 5-8 PM. The socials will include a light meal and themed activity for a cost of $12 per person. The schedule of themes is as follows: February 3, 2016 – Classic Movie Night, March 2, 2016 – Trivia, April 6, 2016 – Wii Games, May 4, 2016 – Karaoke BBQ.

Platform Tennis Season Platform Tennis is a winter sport that was created to replace tennis play so greatly missed during the months of inclement weather. With cooler temperatures coming you’re reminded that outdoor play is not over! LNC Members should be gearing up to play Platform Tennis at the Community Center.

The Platform Tennis court is skid-resistant with a heating system underneath to melt the snow and ice prior to play. The court is one fourth the size of a tennis court and is enclosed by a twelve foot high taut wire screen which is an enclosure as well as play area. The Platform rules state you’re permitted to play the ball off the fencing walls which is both a major difference from traditional tennis and very fun!

This sport is easy to learn and suitable for men and women of all ages and abilities. The APTA (American Platform Tennis Association) offers both Junior and Adult League and Tournament play in all populated areas including Philadelphia, New York and throughout New Jersey.

Racquets q and balls are available for check out at the Reception Desk. Athletic shoes are th the only other item required to pplay, however, eye protection is hhighly recommended. All Membbers are permitted to play and th there are no court fees associated with Platform Tennis. Courts ar are available for walk on play, bu but reservations can be made in advance by contacting the C Community Center receptionist.

T The Reception Desk also keeps a Platform Highlights sheet as w well as the Official Rules for M Members who wish to use them.

Fifth Annual Winter Festival Mark your calendar LNC’s Sixth Annual Winter Festival is scheduled for the weekend of January 30-31, 2016. Every year we get the excitement of enjoying this great family fun weekend regardless of the snow.

Snow or no snow all the Members have enjoyed the festivities. Special activities that are in the planning stages include: story time, arts & crafts, games, building gingerbread houses, special night for the kids at the CC, special night for the adults at the LNCH, Après Ski Happy Hour, Sunday Breakfast Buffet, sledding, snowman contest and a special Fitness Event. Back by popular demand we will be holding the Cardboard Bobsled contest! For the skiers and snowboarders there will be group rates available for Jack Frost/Big Boulder Ski Areas. The Temporary Membership fee for a family will be $50 for three days and all guest fees will be waived this weekend. The guest limit will remain in effect with four guests per Family Membership per day. Members are all invited to participate in this fun filled weekend. Invite your friends and family members so they too can enjoy all the activities.

Local Food Bank Needs Replenishing The Activities Committee is continuing to collect donations for the local food bank. The following non-perishable items can be dropped at the Community Center: canned fruits and vegetables, rice, pasta, spaghetti sauce, tuna, peanut butter, jelly, cake mix, juice, coffee, tea, soap, detergent and paper products. This collection will be ongoing through the Winter and Spring in the hopes that we can stock the food bank full of the items needed for our local community.

Columbus Weekend Recreation Activities Join us on Columbus Weekend Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th at the Logan Steele Community Center for the following events and programs: Saturday, October 10th Archery Range Hours Open Shoot 12 Noon and 1PM These open shoots will be free of charge and will be on a first come first serve basis. Each session of introduction and instruction will begin on the hour; participants arriving after the start or once the group is full will be asked to wait until the next session.

Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Advanced shoot 2 PM Advanced shoot is only open to archers who know how to shoot proficiently and are 10 years of age and older.

Night Recreation will be offered from 6:00-10:00PM. Third graders and up are welcome to join in a night of fun that our staff will be organizing.

Sunday, October 11th Archery Tournament at 1 PM - $8 - Adults and children 10 years and up only. Required pre-registration can be completed at the Community Center.

You must be a proficient shooter; no instruction will be provided. Prizes awarded to the top three competitors.

Family Ceramics will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM. Always a favorite!

No one is too young or too old for this great family activity. There is a $5 sitting fee as well as the individual cost of molds ranging from $2-$10.

Movie Night on the Lawn will be held from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Community Center. Bring a blanket and/or chairs and come enjoy a movie on the big inflatable screen! Bundle up and enjoy a nice cool fall evening in the Poconos. (Members under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times) Night Recreation will be offered from 6:00-10:00 PM. Third graders and up are welcome to join in a night of fun that our staff will be organizing.

Visit the Community Center Café The Community Center Café is open year-round and offers another option for those Members wanting something to eat without a long drive. If you’ve never taken a moment to look at the menu, why not make a point to stop in this season. As expected, the Café serves the usual burgers, chicken tenders and fries, but also has many healthier options. There is a selection of salads, wraps, sandwiches to revive you after that long workout. They also look forward to offering a revolving menu this winter that will take advantage of different ingredients to keep the options interesting.

Normal hours of operation are Saturday from 11:30 AM until 7:00 PM and Sundays from 11:30 AM until 4:45 PM. The Community Center Café also offers extended hours during all holiday weekends. Don’t have time to sit and eat? That’s okay. You can always order to take home or call 570-646-8585 and they will have it ready to go when you arrive.

Community Center Maintenance The Community Center is scheduled to be closed for major maintenance each year the two weeks prior to Thanksgiving week. This year the Community Center is expected to be closed for just five days, Monday, November 9th through Friday, November 13th. There may be the need to extend certain areas of the building into the following week. Members will be notified via the weekly email blast in the event there is a change in the dates of the Community Center close down.

Fitness News The Fitness Department was very busy again this summer. Record numbers of participants joined the group exercise classes. We love to hear your suggestions for new classes and be sure to let us know your favorites so they can continue. Look for current class schedules at the front desk of the Community Center. The Fitness Committee is working closely with Management to continue to strategize options that will improve our spacing issues during the busy months. Please help us by reading the Horizon Plan publications and getting your suggestions and comments to the Committee Members.

Be sure to check out Circuit Training offered by Jeff Husick this fall. Jeff has been introducing Members to the Fitness Center with his complimentary orientation since the building opened and is continuing a FREE Circuit Training Program again this fall.

Join Jeff in the Fitness Center on Thursdays anytime between 5:00-7:00 PM. Look for details on our Fall Cycle for Survival event on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. We will also use the Community Center Leisure Trail for a brisk 3 mile Run/Walk…also known as the Turkey Trot for Toys for Tots Friday, November 27th at 10AM - Two great ways to burn off the turkey dinner and pumpkin pie and support great causes.

Indoor Tennis Play The Multi-Purpose Room in the Logan Steele Community Center has the following times and spaces available for indoor tennis reservations this fall: Monday through Friday: Bay 1 (with the windows to the back of the CC) is available for play from 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM. Court times are for 1½ hours and begin as follows: 9:00 AM, 10:30 AM, Noon, 1:30 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:30 PM, and 6:00 PM. Bay 2 (with basketball) is available for reservation and play from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM as follows: 8:00 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM. At 2:00 PM that room is turned over to Multipurpose use.

The same schedule applies on Saturday except Bay one has extended time due to the longer facility hours and closing at 10:00 PM. That means there is a 7:30 PM time also available. Congratulations Swim Team The 2015 swimmers had a very enjoyable and successful season. Thanks to the enthusiastic coaching of Brandon Swingle who coached 13 & up, Nate Crikelair 11/12s, Peter Clark with 9/10s and Julia Hall coached our youngest swimmers age 8 and under. All ages benefited from the head coaching and experience of long time swimmer and 3rd year coach with LNC Lacey Anger. The coaches focused a lot on activities to promote building the team, beyond the expected efforts to improve stroke and times. Not only did the kids swimming progress, but all the swimmers had fun, and after all it is about the fun! A team rafting trip floating the Delaware River, and an ice cream social swim party were a few favorites this season. On Friday, August 14th all swimmers were honored with a pizza party and awards ceremony. Swimmers who competed in the League Championships were given their medals for swimming their personal best. Every participant was presented with a season end stat sheet and photo and team shirt. Five swimmers won special awards for their exceptional effort throughout the summer season. The Elizabeth Duerr Award was given for being an all-around good sport to Sarah Kopchains. The Most Improved Female Award was given to Leah Sepiashvili. The Most improved Male was received

by Cayden Cahill. The Sportsmanship Female Award went to Catherine Yahr and the Sportsmanship Male was awarded to Johnny Basile. Special thank you was also mentioned to Johnny for sharing his beautiful voice at home meets treating us all to his rendition of The Star Spangled Banner before our home meets!

LN Pool Special Events 2015 Pool Special Events included the annual Big Splash P Party t iin A Augustt which hi h iincluded l d d many different activities the entire family could enjoy. A pie baking contest was featured and the traditional Big Splash competition ended the day with both kids and adults flipping and tricking their way to try to win the coveted trophy and title for the season.

Members of all ages came to the pool for an exciting Christmas in July Pool Party, which was complete with carols, turkey dinner and a visit from Santa. Some Pool Members even came early to help decorate and make the entire pool area look as though it were dropped into the Christmas holiday!! Horseracing took on a reindeer theme and as always for the only time of the summer took actual bets as this money was collected for the LN-TT Breast Cancer Rally. This year horseracing earned over $600 for the cause. The Labor Day holiday weekend was a hit with a Tailgate Party to kick off the football season.

Tailgate food and games were abundant while team colors and jerseys were everywhere!

Thank you to all who participated in making pool days even more fun at LNP this year.

The Aquatics Department and Committee would like to say THANK YOU to all the parents who volunteer to run swim team competitive meets.

There is an extraordinary amount of work involved in a swim team meet which goes far beyond the amenity preparations the coaches do to prepare. The numerous tasks requiring many hands during the meet would not be possible without our volunteer parents.

Parents Pa aren perform the following for each home meet: ea Announcer, Starter, Timers, Runners, Lane Judges, Score R kkeepers, Ribbon Writers and ggeneral organizers. That totals an anywhere between 18-22 paren ents to volunteer at every home m meet AND 15–18 are needed fo for some of the above at all aw away meets. That is a lot of ppeople! THANK YOU to all of yyou who lend your time for the kkids of LNC. A special THANK YOU also goes out to Shannon Kaplan for being the point person for organizing all the volunteers. It’s not an easy task finding enough people to help at each meet. Thank you LNC parents, we appreciate you all!

Tennis Fall Season Operating Hours The Timber Trails Tennis Complex is closed for the season. The Recreation Tennis Courts will continue to be unlocked from 8:00 AM until dusk until weather conditions no longer permit.

The Lake Naomi Tennis Center Pro Shop will be staffed from 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM on Saturdays and Sundays through Columbus Day. Court reservations for weekend play may be left on the Pro Shop answering machine at 570-646-7580 on the Friday preceding play beginning at 10:00 AM. Please leave your name, all the Members on your court, your desired play time, and a contact phone number. Calls will be returned ONLY if there is a conflict with your request.

When the Pro Shop is not open, courts may not be reserved for use but will be available for “walk on” play. A listing of available courts will be posted on the Pro Shop door for Members and their eligible Guests to “walk on.” Members are reminded to bring their Membership ID and to abide by Club Policies regarding Dress Code, Court Usage Guidelines and Court Etiquette. Members are also asked to signin at the podium by the Pro Shop door to show accurate court usage. After Columbus Day some of the Har-Tru courts may be left for Members to continue with “walk on and self maintain play”, depending on the freeze-thaw cycle. Please note restrooms will be unlocked during “walk on” play.

Tennis Talk Point, Game, Set, and Match: Keeping Your Emotions Under Control As I was watching high profile tennis professionals smash their racquets during the US Open, I was reminded of the advice that our father preached to Bobby and me as we began to play competitive tennis: Stay calm, cool, and collected. Keep your emotions under control.” Even though this is very difficult to do, it will lead to better performances on and off the court. This sage advice can be applied in all areas of life.

Too bad these professionals could not have witnessed our Lake Naomi Junior Tennis Tournament. What I will remember most from this summer will be the sportsmanship and conduct exhibited by our youngsters during championship week. No racquets were smashed, no loud outbursts, good shot or good try were the only exclamations I heard! You have to love how these kids competed.

The adult events were also highly spirited with several close three set matches determining the winner. Remember, parents, little eyes are watching you play. Many thanks to Margaret Hickey and her championship staff for organizing and directing another successful tournament season. A Tournament Director’s job is never fully understood or appreciated.

Thank you to all those Members who did not play but watched as spectators. It is always nice for the participants to have a crowd. Next year you have to play!

The end of the season celebration luncheon was well attended and is always a wonderful way to recognize our winners and finalists. The smiles on the faces of our youth are so refreshing. And it’s a nice opportunity to see a lot of happy adults as well!

W If you are frustrated, count to ten and be determined to play the next point better. Walk confidently to the service line if serving, take a couple of deep breaths, and strike the ball smoothly. If receiving, run in place while waiting for the serve and be ready to move.

The changeover time period is a good place to control your thoughts. Sit, take a sip of water, visualize making excellent shots, and say positive words to yourself. By going through this routine, you are giving yourself a chance to perform better and your mind is more relaxed.

The 2015 Ladies Team Tennis competition had forty-eight regular players and fourteen substitute players rounding out four teams for five great weeks of play and not a single rain-out! 2015 Duster National Regatta Lake Naomi Duster Sailors held their 70th Annual National Regatta over the August 22nd & 23rd weekend.

The activities included a Friday evening registration and welcome gathering where traditional sail measuring took place on the grass hill at Club Beach. Saturday evening included a group seating dinner in the LNCH. Overall a great weekend of sailing was had by all.

Summer 2015 Radio Controlled Laser Regatta Results

The RC Laser Fleet #9 outdoor racing season is held at the Administrative Office Marina. This is the quiet end of the lake for the small scale boats. So although they aren’t that visible, they aare there, come visit anytime!

Most scheduled days are filled with ppractice sailing and race starts while socializing on shore and introducing bbystanders to RC Laser sailing. All are welcomed to try out a boat. w The Annual Summer Regatta is scheduled each summer at the same ttime as the Junior Regatta, this year on Saturday, August 8th which involved 18 races. Copious sunshine and steady w winds made for a great day for the mix oof Members and off lake participants.

Lake Naomi – Timber Trails Tennis - Last Serve of 2015 The 2015 tennis season is winding down but we can’t let it pass without looking back on all the things that made it special.

Despite the most unexpected and heartbreaking loss of our dear friend and longtime teaching professional Bobby McKee at the year’s onset, the tennis season began as it always does: with an enthusiastic crowd eager to get back on the courts!

This year’s kick-off was dedicated to Bobby and the Lake Naomi Tennis facility was jam packed on an exquisite Memorial Day Sunday afternoon. A determined Richard McKee returned with a full staff of assistant professionals, most in their second or third year with us, and encouraged all to look forward and move forward both on the court and in life. Richard was an inspiration to everyone this summer with his strength, positive attitude, and ever-present smile. Assisting Richard and his staff with the administrative side of the teaching program, Member and Tennis Intern Danny Buono was absolutely invaluable. Danny organized the office, created web-based scheduling, communicated regularly with staff and Membership, and expertly handled the business of teaching tennis. We thank him and wish him luck in his scholastic endeavors knowing that great success is in his future! Joining the staff of McKee Tennis this year were Lake Naomi Club Members Pete and Ruth Hessert. The Hesserts are a wonderful addition to the tennis program, bringing years of professional teaching experience to our courts.

And as they are year-round residents, Pete and Ruth are available to teach lessons in the off-season as well. Please contact the Community Center if you are interested.

In addition to clinics and private lessons for adults and juniors, we had a season full of Round Robins, Rally for the Cure, Tournaments, Team Tennis and countless hours of recreational play. The courts at Timber Trails Tennis saw expanded hours for walk-on play with the convenience of a beautifully renovated clubhouse right next door! Two new Club offerings were well-received by Members: Men’s Competitive Tennis and Racquets on the Rocks.

We look forward to continuing these programs next season. In closing, we are excited to announce that Richard McKee will return for 2016 to give our Membership the exceptional tennis education that has become his trademark! That’s a service ace on any court! Thanks to all for a remarkable 2015 tennis season!

Fall Trout Stocking As part of the annual stocking program conducted by the Lakes Committee, brown and rainbow trout will be stocked in the Upper Tunkhannock Stream above and below the lake on Saturday, October 10, 2015. Any Members and Guests interested in assisting in the stocking should meet at the Administrative Office at 8:00 AM. Please note, although the Club does stock trout, there are specific regulations regarding trout fishing that must be followed. Trout are strictly catch and release from the first Saturday in September through the last Saturday in February. There is no trout fishing from Saturday, March 26, 2016 until the 2016 Season Opening Day on April 16th. All fisherpersons must wear a current Membership ID along with their Pennsylvania Fishing License (required of all 16 years of age and older).

Club Tennis Tournaments 2015 As the 2015 tennis season draws to a close, we would like to recognize our Club Championship Tournament players. At the Adult level, we again used the two-flight format and had many new players join the competition. The Adult Singles Tournament was held over two weekends early in the season followed by the Adult Doubles Tournament held in its entirety the following weekend. We had numerous spectators for all rounds of play and especially great attendance for stadium court finals. Our Junior Tournament saw an increase in players and we hope to keep that trend going next season. Recognition and awards for all tournaments were given on Sunday, August 16th at our End of Tournament Celebration held at the Community Center pavilion. Environmental Stewardship Committee The Environmental Stewardship Committee will be providing the residents of Lake Naomi and Timber Trails with educational information on important topics pertaining to the management and conservation of our natural resources. Perhaps at your primary residence, or where you lived in the past your house was connected to a central sewer system and you didn’t have to worry where the water went after you flushed your toilet.

However, in Lake Naomi-Timber Trails you rely on an on-lot septic system to treat and dispose of your wastewater. Are you properly managing your system? Do you know how to maintain your septic system and how to identify problems with your septic system? Penn State Extension will discuss septic system inspection and maintenance. Learn how to protect your health, your property and our shared groundwater and surface water resources. Economic & Community Development Extension Educator, Peter Wulfhorst will be giving a talk on Septic Systems at the Community Center on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 9:30-11:00 AM. There is not a fee but please call to register by October 1st so that we can plan accordingly.

LNC Softball 2015 The Lake Naomi Softball Club ended its 2015 campaign on Labor Day with a final competitive game. This past Summer saw 50+ members and guests, dusting off their gloves and risking a pulled muscle to recapture their ball playing glory days. The team met every Sunday and by seasons end there were plenty of clutch hits, diving grabs, new nicknames and memorable moments to put in the record books. The new season will start up on Sunday, July 3, 2016 with batting practice at 9:30 AM and a choose-up style game from 10-11AM. Lake Naomi Club Q & A When is the Vote for Phase Two of the Horizon Plan?

The Members and the Management Team all agree that the Committees did a commendable job with planning each aspect of the Horizon Plan’s Phase One. As with any great success, the strive to continue the momentum challenges the Committees to get it right for Phase Two and Phase Three of the Horizon Plan. The Committees continue fine-tuning the plans and consolidating the potential expansion of the Community Center along with the Lake Naomi Tennis Center enhancements. Instead of Phase Two and Phase Three the Committees and Management Team are working on “Phase 2.5”. The expectation is that a proposal will be presented to the Membership by the early winter. Your patience with this delay is greatly appreciated.

Will the cafes still be offering the express service next year?

Yes, the Boathouse Café and Lake Naomi Pool cafe will continue to offer express items for those Members wanting speedy service; however, the goal for the 2016 summer season will be to include more cooked-to-order food at the cafes as in previous years.

The Management Team will be looking to bring back the table service at Boathouse Cafe for lunch and dinner with healthier choices on the ala’ carte menus.

Will there be more kid friendly food items?

Yes, we have heard your concern and the Management Team will be adding more snack type “kid’s food” along with the addition of pizza at the Lake Naomi Pool café.

How do I submit my Summer Menu suggestion?

The Club is looking for other items that the Membership would like to see on the 2016 summer menus, so if you have any suggestions, please email Cafés Manager Kevin Fisher at kfisher@lakenaomiclub.com.
