The Club is making great strides in restoring the Mountaintop Lodge and bringing it to LNC’s Platinum Club level. In December the Maintenance Team finalized the plumbing challenges and started working on preparing all rooms for fresh paint. Excitement builds as the wallpaper and layers of paint are scraped away and the old wood and original surfaces are brought back to life. As the restoration continues the memory that the building has been closed for three years fades. The Lodge will be decorated with historic recreation décor with a woodland touch. One of the most exciting undertakings at the Lodge is bringing back the old coffee/ pastry shop. Display counters and small tables with chairs are being added to the front room off of the big porch. The Club is working with Hard Bean Coffee Buying Group to offer the best mixture of fresh ground beans, cappuccino, espresso and specialty coffee in the area. Freshly made pastries and desserts created by the Club’s new Pastry Chef will be plentiful for Members and the public to savor at the Lodge or take home. The newly formed Lodge Task Force is working with the Management Team on developing the business and marketing plan for the Lodge. The Mountaintop Lodge Bed & Breakfast is a start-up business new to the Lake Naomi Club. The standards of the Lodge will focus on hospitality, service, quality food services, sanitation, and safety. Guests staying at the Lodge will be able to enjoy the amenities offered by the Lake Naomi Club in the off season. The timeline has been developed and starting mid April Members will have the opportunity to tour the Lodge. The Lodge will be fully open to the membership and public May 1, 2012. Marketing is critical to its success and future profitability. The LNC Members have been the biggest marketing tool for the Club so the Club is hoping the Members will help market the Mountaintop Lodge. Please start spreading the word, tell your friends and family about the Lodge’s transformation and new Management. The Mountaintop Lodge is a great place to host your special parties, banquets or get-togethers. Clubhouse Manager Peter Koryttko is ready to book your special event starting in May 2012 and beyond. Peter can be reached at 570-646-2866. Stay tuned …. the Club will keep the Membership posted on the progress and opening.
Survey Says The McMahon Group, the national consulting group retained by the Club to assist with the comprehensive membership survey, is continuing the arduous task of compiling all of the survey results, including all of the written comments from Club Members. Seventeen hundred and forty-two surveys were returned, for a return rate of just over fifty-six percent. The McMahon Group handles seventy-five to eighty-five Club surveys annually and their average return is fifty-two percent. Once again the Lake Naomi –Timber Trails Members have exceeded the norm. Club Members should look for an Executive Summary of the survey in their end of March Reflections. Results will also be posted on the Club’s website and Members notified once that information is available. Thank you to all the Members that were willing to invest the time necessary to complete the survey. Please consider your time as an important investment in the future of your Club.

Cary Levinson Elected Trustee Cary Levinson of Spring House, Pennsylvania was elected to a three year term on the Board of Trustees effective January 1, 2012. Prior to his election to the Board of Trustees, Cary served on the Timber Trails Community Association Board from 2007 to 2010. Cary and his wife Lynda have a home in Timber Trails and have held Club Membership since 2004. Cary is Partner and past Chair of the Commercial Department for Pepper Hamilton LLP. He is also a member of the Lower Gwynedd Township Zoning and Hearing Board and a Trustee for the Pennsylvania Ballet. In answer to the question – What is your primary reason for desiring to serve as a Board of Trustee Member? Cary responded, “Lynda and I became part of the Lake Naomi-Timber Trails Community about five years ago, after searching the east coast from Maine to the tip of the eastern shore of Virginia for a vacation home. We were looking for a place we, our children and grandchildren could enjoy together. Lake Naomi – Timber Trails has built and maintained and improved the community and its facilities. I would like to serve as a Trustee in order to continue to maintain and to improve the Lake Naomi – Timber Trails experience. The challenges from the growth of the surrounding community will be significant.”
Busy Year for LN-TT Rangers Under the direction of Chief Ranger John Lamberton, the Lake Naomi – Timber Trails Patrol Rangers were very busy during 2011 handling 6,146 calls and logging over 77,000 patrol miles on the Club’s four Ranger vehicles. During 2011 the Patrol Rangers also conducted 4,630 paid house checks and 3,550 random house checks. The Timber Trails Gate House Rangers also had a busy year logging in 12,300 visitors and 5,990 contractors. The Patrol Rangers are also very active with the Recreation Department by having a full-time Ranger assigned to Kids Klub and night recreation at the Community Center and conducting several safety programs at Kids Klub during the summer. Congratulations to this fine group of men and women for their dedicated service to the Property Owners of Lake Naomi – Timber Trails.
Calling all Members with their last name beginning with L-Q If your last name begins with the letter L, M, N, O, P or Q it is time to get your Membership ID picture retaken. The Club has established a four year retake schedule to assure that the Membership ID cards remain current. In order to stagger the picture retakes some Members will have their first picture retaken prior to four years while others will be longer than four years. It is important to make sure that your ID card actually looks like you. Members who are behind in getting their pictures updated could experience inconvenience at a LNC amenity. The LNC Staff Members have been instructed to look closely at the Membership Cards to guarantee each and every Member has their own ID card. So to avoid confusion and to avoid delays stop in the Administrative Office to update your Membership ID picture.

The Dress Code at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse In order to maintain the quality experience that the Members expect at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse, Club Members and Guests must wear Dressy Casual appropriate attire when dining at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. While jackets are not required, they are welcomed at all times. In the Main Dining Room and the Tall Timbers Room gentlemen and young men 16 and older must wear a collared shirt or a comparable dress shirt at all times. Beach attire, T-shirts, cut-offs, tank tops and hats are not permitted at any time. Except for special functions where they are appropriate (for example, member events), blue denim jeans are discouraged (however not prohibited) on Saturday nights. For Sunday Breakfast Buffets dressy casual is recommended. Gentlemen and young men 16 and older must wear a collared shirt or a comparable dress shirt at all times. Beach attire, T-shirts, cut-offs, tank tops and hats are not permitted at any time. On the outdoor deck, beach attire, cut-offs, hats and jeans are permitted. However, entering the Club for special buffet events will not be permitted unless you are dressed in appropriate attire per the above description. The Clubhouse Committee acknowledges that some Members strongly prefer a more casual dress code. However, we still encourage dress that would be considered business, dressy casual or resort casual, and believe diners will be most comfortable following those guidelines. The Club is entrusting our Members to use good judgment concerning what is appropriate attire when coming to the Club to dine. Under-shirts, sleeveless t-shirts, printed tee-shirts, short shorts and bare midrift tops are unacceptable. Please inform your guests of this policy before they arrive at the Clubhouse. In the event of questionable attire, the decision of the Clubhouse Management will be final.

A big thank you to Caroline Graham who made sure that the donations reached their proper destination again this year.
Community Center Guests While the Club is always happy to entertain guests at Lake Naomi - Timber Trails, please be mindful of the Community Center guidelines throughout the balance of this winter season, especially President’s Weekend . There is a limit of six guests per day per Family Membership on weekdays and four guests per day per Family Membership on weekends and holidays. Also please remember that in order for a guest to use the facility, the Member must be present with them. In fairness to our Members, we will not be making any exceptions to these policies during winter holiday periods.
Community Center Garden Our community garden growing season last year was bountiful in so many ways. Members enjoyed learning from each other and making new friends as well as harvesting beautiful crops and participating in our educational lectures and programming. The Members who invested in their garden spot last year have the option to keep that space. Many Members have expressed an interest in participating next season and have been put on a waiting list. Those who are on the list will be contacted by CC Manager Kelly Swingle by March. If you are interested in being on the waiting list, call Kelly at 570-646-8585 by February 28, 2012.
Outreach Program The Club extended its services to Stroudsburg’s Developmental Educational Service Center with its annual Tennis & Christmas Party at the Community Center. The hour long tennis activity provided the 14 adult physically challenged players an opportunity to enhance their eye/hand coordination abilities while working with community members who volunteered to serve as mentors. Following this workout the visitors enjoyed a light snack, an exciting visit from Santa Claus (our own Bill Bussman) and the singing of many Christmas carols. The group expressed their joy and appreciation of the Club’s outreach program. This event was once again made possible through the efforts of Members Anita Scarperia and June Steinberg. A similar activity is already being planned for the spring.
Soaking Safety at the LSCC Soaking in the hot tub, steam room or sauna at the Community Center is relaxing, warm and wonderful. The hot water, jets and steam soothe your body and rejuvenate your spirits. The recommended guidelines below will help you to soak safely: •Consult before you soak. If you suffer from any medical conditions such as cardiovascular or respiratory disorders, diabetes, high/low blood pressure or others make sure you have your doctor’s okay before you go in the hot tub. •Observe a reasonable 10 minute total time limit when soaking in the hot tub, steam room or sauna and cool down between uses. **One should never move from the hot tub directly to the steam room or sauna or vice versa if the 10 minute time limit in the aquatic area has been reached. •Exit immediately and notify staff if feeling any kind of discomfort such as dizziness, nausea, lightheaded or faint. •Alcohol, drugs, medications and hot temperatures don’t mix. Spa heat accelerates the effects of alcohol and drugs and can cause unconsciousness. •Please note that pregnant women should consult their physicians before use and women of childbearing years are advised to observe caution in their use of a spa. •No one under the age of 16 years are permitted in any Spa Facilities.

Multipurpose Room while set for Indoor Tennis- Additional Guidelines: Athletic attire and shoes are required to play indoor tennis. Only persons engaged in play may be on the court. Each court may have a maximum of four players and three regulation size tennis balls unless otherwise approved by Management. Please keep the courts free of litter, especially empty ball cans and ball can metal caps which can damage the floor. Players are expected to practice court etiquette as they participate at all Lake Naomi Club Tennis facilities: Be respectful to the adjacent court at all times, especially when walking in and out and when retrieving balls. Should the need to interrupt arise, please wait until after the point in play. Limit disruptive conversation and behavior. Profane language is never acceptable. Throwing racquets will not be tolerated and unnecessary screaming is discouraged. Courteous and sportsmanlike conduct is always expected. Although cell phones are permitted in the Community Center, lowering ringer volume and taking calls to another area are courteous practices always appreciated by others. We hope these basic reminders will help all Members find their time at the Community Center more enjoyable as many users share common space. We thank you for your cooperation.
Winter Swim Lessons Did you know the Lake Naomi Club has Lifeguards trained to provide Swim Lessons and our Summer Swim Lesson Head Instructor/ Coordinator is on staff year round? Their services are available for private lessons at almost anytime you are here. Why not book time now so children are preparing for summer in advance? Please contact Meredith Sensenig at 570-646-8585 or by email at msensenig@lakenaomiclub. com to discuss your options. All lessons must be scheduled in advance.
Important Indoor Pool Etiquette For the comfort of all Members using the indoor aquatic facilities, we encourage you to rinse off before entering the indoor pool, steam room or sauna. This is especially important if you have just worked up a sweat in the fitness center or multi-purpose room. Showerheads for this purpose are located in the Men’s and Ladies’ locker rooms right before you enter the indoor pool area. Your fellow Members thank you!

Vehicle Registration Form The Lake Naomi Club is continuing its Vehicle Registration Program during 2012 for those Club Members who do not register their vehicles through the Timber Trails Community Association. All Club Members registered with the program will receive Lake Naomi Club Identification Stickers for the vehicles registered. If you would like to participate in this voluntary program, an application was included in the invoice mailing. If you take the time now to fill out and return the Vehicle Registration Application, it will permit the Membership Department time to process your application and to include the stickers in your Membership Packet. This can save you a substantial amount of time when you come to the Administrative Office to pick up your 2012 Membership Packet. If you desire to use your stickers prior to packets being distributed (2012 stickers are required for access to Timber Trails after April 1st), stop by the Administrative Office with your completed Vehicle Registration Application. The Administrative Staff will be happy to process your request.

Calling all Boat Owners The Lake Naomi Club Sailing Office, located at Club Beach, offers Members boat rentals on weekends beginning Memorial Day weekend and everyday during the main summer season (fourth Saturday in June – Labor Day.) Many of the boats in the Boat Rental fleet once belonged to Members who donated their equipment they rarely used. Boats donated to the Boat Rental fleet are cared for and stored by the Club, but are still available for you to use! Members who donate a boat are entitled to eight free boat rentals per season for five seasons. Those free rentals can be used for your boat or any boat in the fleet, which includes the single and double kayaks, canoes and row boats. Sailboats are available on a limited basis, once you’ve been “authorized” by a trained Member of the Sailing Staff. To make this deal even better, your free boat rentals are transferable to every person on your Membership, your Special Family Members and your Guests. Simply contact the Sailing Office (570-646-LAKE) to make the arrangements and you’re all set. For more information on pre-season Boat Donations please e-mail Operations Coordinator Meredith Sensenig at msensenig@lakenaomiclub.com or at the Community Center (570, 646-8585). Let’s get the unused boats out on the water where they belong!
Boat and Canoe Racks Each year Management hears numerous concerns from Members who do not receive boat or canoe rack assignments in the area they desire. Please keep in mind that boat and canoe racks are assigned on a first paid basis. Many racks have already been assigned to those Members who have made payment in January. Thus the earlier you make your 2012 Club dues payment, the better your chances are of being assigned racks in your designated area. Those Members who opt to subscribe to a boat and/or canoe rack are subscribing to the rack from the Saturday prior to Memorial Day Weekend until the Monday of Columbus Day weekend. The actual dates in 2012 are May 19th through October 8th. Please do not occupy boat or canoe racks prior to the starting date indicated. When you do occupy your rack, make sure that you are on the rack that has been assigned to you. The elevated racks are for canoes and kayaks only. They are not built to withstand the weight of any other craft. Please do not put anything other than canoes or kayaks on these racks.
Share the 2012 LNC Calendar The Membership Committee would like to remind you that the 2012 calendar is a means for Club Members to share the quality of life available at Lake Naomi - Timber Trails with friends, colleagues and family. The Committee hopes you will choose a special location for the calendar in your home or office where others will be able to see and enjoy the treasured pictures of Lake Naomi and Timber Trails. Referrals of potential new Property Owners and Club Members by existing Club Members has long been the number one source of new Club Members. As a part of the MemberShare Referral Program, just email Communications Manager Laura Altemose at laltemose@lakenaomiclub.com in the event you have a MemberShare Referral Candidate that you would like to receive their own Lake Naomi - Timber Trails Calendar. Laura will see that a calendar gets right out to them. You can also call Laura at 570, 646-9191 (Ext. 104) 24 hours a day to request a calendar to be sent. The Committee would also like to share the calendar with any former LNC Members. If you have an address of our “LNC Alumni” please send it to Laura.

Golf Notes The rules of golf are complex and even touring professionals don’t know all the rules. Knowing a few basic rules certainly can help you save strokes and impress your friends. Maybe you will never be a rules aficionado like Brian Dixon but learning a few basic rules is obtainable by all who play this great game. In this article I would like to discuss Water Hazards and Lateral Hazards. A Water Hazard is defined by yellow stakes or a yellow line. A Lateral Hazard is defined by red stakes or a red line. One similarity between the two is you can’t ground the club or move any loose impediments in the hazards. Both incur a one shot penalty. If your ball is lying in a water hazard you have three options. The first is to play the ball as it lies with no penalty. The second is to play from the spot where you played the previous shot from incurring a one shot penalty. The third option is to take the point where the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard and line that point up with the hole and go back on that line as far as you like, incurring a one shot penalty. A lateral hazard gives you these three options plus two additional options. One additional option allows the player to take two club lengths no nearer the hole where the ball last crossed the margin of the lateral hazard. The last option and commonly forgotten is taking the point where the golf ball crossed the hazard and going equidistant on the other side of the hazard. In this case the player is also permitted to drop the ball two club lengths no nearer the hole. Water hazards run perpendicular to the hole you are playing. Lateral hazards run parallel to the hole. A good example of the two hazards is the magnificent 6th hole at Timber Trails Golf Club. The pond just right of the fairway, short of the bridge is a lateral hazard defined by red stakes. The creek that runs directly in front of the green is a water hazard defined by yellow stakes. The simulator is back and working well at the Logan Steele Community Center. Feel free to stop by and take a few swings. This golf technology is a fun way to get important data and to improve your game. Golf lessons are available this Winter to help you to get off to a good start this Spring. You can reach me at my email Greenlane77@yahoo.com See you on the links! Bob Millard, PGA Golf Professional
Spring will be here before you know it and when it arrives, everyone will want to enjoy the fresh air and work outside. If you are planning to build a new house, undertake any major landscaping project or make any type of structural changes on your property, it is important that you abide by the Deed Restrictions as well as the “Architectural Standards and Requirements” for the Lake Naomi – Timber Trails Community. These standards are intended to promote harmonious design, the protection of the environment and collective interests of owners of property in the Community. Included in the S&R’s is a requirement that all propane tanks be screened from sight by using either privacy lattice or landscaping that provides sufficient screening or both for maximum screening. Great strides have been taken over the last several years to reduce the number of unscreened tanks in the Community. These unsightly tanks show up in even greater numbers during this time of year and new ones are added all the time. As propane tanks detract from the beauty of your home and the community, this stringent effort will continue. If you haven’t already done so, please be a good neighbor and screen your tank. Blue tarps are also not permitted in Lake Naomi – Timber Trails. Dark green and brown tarps are much more aesthetically pleasing and blend better with our natural environment. Cramers Home Center, a short drive east on 940, usually has these in stock. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact Architectural Coordinator Sharon Lee Heron at sheron@LakeNaomiClub.com or 570, 646-9191 extension 106.
Winter is Platform Tennis Season Did you know Platform Tennis is considered a winter sport? It was invented to accommodate tennis players who were not able to get on their courts once colder weather hit. Leagues, tournaments and special events quickly followed, turning Platform Tennis into one of the best winter outdoor recreational sports. Lake Naomi Club Members are reminded that although our court is available all year at the Community Center, winter is really the best time to try it out as it was originally intended. This fast moving game is a great way to warm up outdoors while benefiting from the fresh air and enjoying the crisp beautiful days offered here. The Platform Tennis court deck has a heating feature to melt away ice so weather only keeps us off the court as long as it takes to clear the deck of snow and ice. The Platform Tennis Court is available for play seven days a week Monday-Thursday 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM * Friday 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM *Saturday 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM and *Sunday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. (Note: additional snow and ice removal time may be needed in inclement weather. Please call in advance during times of questionable weather) Members who do not have their own rackets and balls may use the platform equipment available for check out at the reception desk. Eye protection is highly recommended and athletic shoes are required. All Members are permitted to play and there are no court fees associated with platform tennis. Reservations are not necessary at this time as the courts are first come, first to play, but if you have a group wishing to play at a particular time, please call the Community Center to reserve the courts with the receptionist. The reception desk also keeps an informative highlight sheet on platform tennis as well as the official rules for the Members who wish to use them. Additional information can also be found on the APTA website at www.platformtennis.org. Many Members are now organizing regular games. Please contact Meredith Sensenig at (570) 646-8585 or msensenig@lakenaomiclub.com if you are interested in getting involved.
Tennis Committee Changes With 2012 upon us we’d like the Membership to be aware of changes to the Tennis Committee. Chairperson Jeanne Christian has resigned her position after nine years volunteering on the Committee and most recently serving in 2008 – 2011 as Chair. Jeanne’s dedication to Member Service for both the tennis community and the general membership while serving on the Board of Governors has been appreciated by many and will be missed. Taking over as Chair is Donna Merola. Donna joined the Tennis Committee in the summer of 2010 and has been a very active participant and dedicated contributor. Additional changes to the committee include the departure of Deb McGill and Marylou Billyer who deserve credit, along with Jeanne, for the successful addition of the annual Tennis Event in support of the LN-TT Breast Cancer Rally. Filling one of the voids is new Tennis Committee Member Karen Stark. Karen is an active player in special events, round robins and tournaments as well as a Member who utilizes the Professional Tennis services offered. Her perspective and input will be appreciated. Thank you to all our volunteers for their concern in advising our staff as to the interest of the Tennis Community. The 2012 Tennis Committee Roster Follows: Joseph Brinker, Mary Buono, Sara Clarkson (secretary), Susanna Kopchains, Steven Krieger, Donna Merola (chairperson), David Mills, Lew Rarig, Deborah Stuckey, Allison Umbricht and Rebekah Zelman.
Timber Trails Member Gate The Timber Trails Community Association installed an automated Members gate system at the entrance to Timber Trails. The gate is activated by a bar code reader that reads a bar code sticker on your vehicle and access to Timber Trails is obtained. This gate will provide quicker access to amenities by minimizing the waiting time for guests to be signed in at the Ranger attended gate. TTCA is offering the benefit of this system to all Lake Naomi Club Members. As a Lake Naomi Club Member, you can purchase a bar code sticker or stickers at a cost of $10 per sticker. Bar code stickers must be applied to the car by a Ranger or Administrative Team Member. Stickers are available for purchase and application Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Administrative Office. Kindly note that the manufacturer does not recommend application of these stickers at temperatures below 35 degrees. Also ice scrapers can seriously damage the sticker, so use caution. Please remember that the sticker needs to be visible to the code reader. If the window is partially down or the sticker is covered by snow, the gate will not function. Please note – The Lake Naomi Vehicle ID stickers are also required if you are part of the optional barcode program. If you have questions regarding this program, please feel free to contact Association Manager Wendi Freeman at wfreeman@ lakenaomiclub.com or 570, 646-9191 ext. 107.
MemberShare ReferralHow Does It Work? Introduce your friends, relatives and business associates to the Lake Naomi-Timber Trails Community. When that person purchases a property in Lake Naomi-Timber Trails and joins the Club, the Referring Member is eligible to collect $500 in “Club Dollars”. You can even earn Club Dollars if your referral vacations at LN-TT and becomes a Temporary Member. The Temporary Membership Membershare Referral Program will reward Members with 25 Club Dollars for each week the new Temporary Member joins the Club. A maximum of 100 Club Dollars can be rewarded for each referral. How do I get the “Club Dollars”? First, you will need to fill out the Referral Registration in the Online Office at the Member’s section of www.LakeNaomiClub.com, or pick up a MemberShare Referral Card at the Administrative Office or at one of the participating Pocono Pines Real Estate agencies. This referral information must be received at the Administrative Office before your referral joins the Club. How can I use the “Club Dollars”? The “Club Dollars” can be used in two different ways. They can be used towards your Membership dues or for treating your friends and family to a number of nights out at the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. Can I share the “Club Dollars”? You can opt to share all or a part of your “Club Dollars” with your referral family in order to make it easier for them to join the Club. Does it really work? In 2011, 27 new Members came from the MemberShare Referral Program and 34 new Temporary Members came from the Temporary Member Referral Program. Referrals are the Club’s Number One source of new Members. The Marketing Task Force would love nothing more than to award lots of “Club Dollars” through the MemberShare Referral Program in 2012 and beyond. Remember.... In order for you to qualify for the Club Dollars the person you refer must be totally new to Lake NaomiTimber Trails and the referral card must be turned into the Administrative Office before the property is purchased. 11

Does the Club have your current Email Address? There have been several occasions when Management has sent out a mass email to inform all our Members of weather conditions and important events. Our Members are very thankful to receive this information and they have a sense of comfort in knowing that if there is an important issue they will be the first to know. In addition to being able to sign-up for email groups the Club can email everyone through the website database. This is a secure mass email so that your email address will only be displayed on your computer. Also once a week the Club emails a LNC Newsletter Weekly Update with the latest information on upcoming events and important reminders. Take a moment to update your email address. Click on the Members Section of www.LakeNaomiClub.com, sign-in with your name and password and click on My Profile that is found in the upper right hand corner above the rotating pictures. State Police Urge Use of Hotlines The Pennsylvania State Police have asked that residents not call their stations for road and weather information but to use a special state hotline or check online instead. State police are concerned the volume of weather-related calls is tying up emergency phone lines and adversely affecting operations. PennDOT has a toll-free number for road and weather conditions across the state 1-888-783-6783 for in PA residents or 717-783-5186 for non-residents. PennDOT’s 511PA provides travelers with reliable, current traffic and weather information, as well as links to other transportation services. 511PA helps motorists reach their destination in the most efficient manner when traveling in Pennsylvania. For current PA travel information dial 511 from any phone or visit www.511pa. com. There is even a Twitter account at 511PANortheast. Get updates for the roads in the northeast via SMS by texting follow 511PANortheast to 40404 in the United States. The PA Turnpike Commission also has a toll-free number for the road and weather conditions on the turnpike across the state: 1-866-976-8747 or visit their website www.paturnpike.com.
Bad Weather Office and Community Center Closing As most residents of Lake Naomi and Timber Trails are aware, winter weather can make driving conditions in Pocono Pines and vicinity difficult and dangerous. This factor combined with the significant distance that a number of the Club’s Support Personnel travel in order to get to the Administrative Office and Community Center makes staffing the Office and Community Center on some bad weather days a real challenge. You can be assured that every effort will be made to have the Administrative Office and Community Center open and staffed during all stated times of operation, regardless of weather conditions. However, the Club seeks your indulgence and understanding for those rare occasions when the Office and/or Community Center may not be able to be staffed due to extreme weather conditions. During times of bad weather, be sure to call ahead before traveling to the Administrative Office or Community Center. 12
Lake Naomi Club Q & A What is the date for the Independence Day Picnic in 2012? The Independence Day Picnic in 2012 will be held on Wednesday, July 4th. Is the Club looking to replace the Swim Platforms at the Community Center? Yes. The Club had to remove the swim platforms due to safety issues. The swim platforms were designed to be put in the pool a few times a week to facilitate swim instruction for younger children and then removed immediately after use. The Club had attempted to use the platforms to provide a shallow water area for younger children to be able to better enjoy the pool. The swim platforms were just not designed to withstand the amount of use the Club had subjected them to. The Club is working with a pool consultant to explore all the options for a safe and fun environment for the younger Members. Once the Club receives the recommendations from the consultant they will be presented to the Committees and Membership. Why does the Clubhouse request reservations for dinner in the main dining room? The popular misconception of why the Clubhouse asks for reservations is so staff can be scheduled accordingly. While this is partially true, the primary reason for reservations is to control the flow of the dining room business to guarantee that the service staff and kitchen staff run efficiently. The most popular eating time is between 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM and if every Member arrives during this time period the operations of the Clubhouse become back logged which results in delayed service to the Membership. The goal is to provide consistent platinum service to the Members and reservation helps the staff accomplish this. Walk-ins will always be welcomed but please try to make a reservation to ensure that you receive the Platinum Club Service that you deserve. Do we have to be worried about our beautiful Community and the Marcellus Shale gas wells that are being drilled in much of Pennsylvania? According to the County Planning Commission, there are currently no land leases (the beginning point) for Marcellus Shale in Monroe County. The closest wells are more than an hour to the west and to the north of Lake Naomi – Timber Trails. So while the current thinking is that the wells will not ever come this far east and south in Pennsylvania, the Club will continue to carefully monitor this matter.
