Mountaintop Lodge Proud Mark your calendars you do not want to miss this. The Lake Naomi Club is proud to present the newly renovated Platinum Club Mountaintop Lodge. The first series of open houses for the Members are scheduled for Wednesday, April 18th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Saturday, April 21st from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Sunday, April 22nd from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. After five short months of dedicated service from the entire Lake Naomi Club Team the damages have been repaired, many original surfaces have been restored and the LNC’s Platinum Club touches have been added. In addition there has been many hours put in by Club Volunteers of the Lodge Task Force in developing the detailed comprehensive Operational Plan of the Mountaintop Lodge. This group of volunteers, as your representatives, has met monthly in developing this plan and approving the enhancements that have been added to the Lodge. Everyone is excited for the doors to open so you can see the vision of the Lodge Task Force. One of the enhancements the group is most excited about is the Mountaintop Lodge Coffee/ Pastry Shop. The Management Team has worked with Scott Bortz the founder and CEO of Hard Bean Coffee and Café Construction Company (www.hardbean.com). Through this contact the Club will be a preferred purchaser from his tried and tested suppliers and bean roasters. Members can enjoy a great cup of coffee including cappuccino, espresso and specialty coffee drinks. In addition the Club is proud to announce the hiring of Pastry Chef Don Thayer. Don comes to the Club most recently from Mount Airy Casino as their Pastry Chef and as the Pastry Chef of the Cheesecake Factory in Swiftwater. Don owned and operated his own Pastry Shop for 18 years in San Diego, California. Don specializes in cakes and pastries and is more than excited to showcase his creations at the Mountaintop Lodge. The Coffee/Pastry Shop is scheduled to be in full operation Monday, April 30th. A special thanks goes out to Lodge A-Team which includes Project Manager Scott Hall, Operations Manager Tim Brooks, Operations Coordinator Meredith Sensenig and interior decorator Beth Evans. During this renovation process this team’s “super powers” emerged. No plumbing problem, electrical damage, mold remediation, township approvals, or budget limitations was too large or too small for this team. Many pieces of the antiques that were included in the purchase could not be saved. But through countless hours and many miles, Beth was able to find the perfect pieces for each and every room. Many color pallets, wall paper samples, countertops, wood finishes, not to mention curtains and bedding were discussed and agonized over, the end result is A M A Z I N G…. In the next couple weeks the Club will have pictures taken along with 360 degree video tours shot and added to www.Mountaintoplodge.com website. Once this is updated you will be notified through the Club’s Weekly Eblast. Make sure you attend one of these open houses so you can be amazed and spread the word to your friends and family. It is not too soon to book your special event. Clubhouse Manager, Peter Koryttko is happy to discuss your party. The Lodge can accommodate parties up to 50 people inside and up to 160 people if the party is outside in the courtyard and the deck. Carolyn Keiper has taken on the role as Hospitality Manager of the Mountaintop Lodge and is at her new office in the Lodge. If you have any questions give Carolyn a call at 570-646-6636.

Survey Results Update The McMahon Group, the national consulting group retained by the Club to assist with the comprehensive membership survey, has just about completed compiling all of the survey results, including the almost 700 written comments from Club Members. Final results are expected to be posted on the Club’s website on or about April 16th. Members will be notified via email once the information is available. Club Members should also look for an Executive Summary of the survey results in the next edition of Reflections.
Membership ID Policy Reminder Now that we are starting a new year it is a good time to remind everyone that it is required to present your Membership ID upon entering all LNC amenities. Many Members are well known at some amenities, especially the Community Center, however your ID is still required to provide access. The reason for this is the Club’s Northstar System scans the Membership ID and then tracks the number of visits. This information is very important to all the LNC Committees, BOG and BOT in developing policies and adding enhancements. In 2011 the Club introduced the ID readers to the amenities and the “kinks” have been resolved. 2012 is the year to start tracking good numbers. The entire LNC staff has been informed that they must enforce the Membership ID policy. So when you head out the door and are checking for your cell phone, remember your LNC Membership ID too.
Stored Value Cards along with Membership ID As a convenience to Club Members and as a means of limiting the amount of cash handled at Club Facilities, the Club initiated LNC Stored Value Cards. Many Members have used the LNC Stored Value Card (SVC) and found it extremely easy to use. No more worrying about having to carry cash for pool, tennis, golf fees and the Community Center. New this year your Membership ID has Stored Value Card capabilities. This means you can put money on your Membership ID so there is no need for a separate SVC. You can add money to your Membership ID or purchase a Stored Value Card at the Administrative Office or the Community Center in any amount over $10.00. Extra dollars can be added to the SVC or Membership ID throughout the season. These cards can then be utilized at any Club facility for payment of services and merchandise provided. They are also a great way to pay for purchases at the Cafes and Restaurant. Be sure to take full advantage of the Lake Naomi Club Stored Value Card.

Additionally, I would like to thank the exceptional Clubhouse Staff in making my time here fruitful and very rewarding. Exciting Swim Team Updates The Club is getting ready for another competitive Swim Team Season and has exciting changes to share! First, our Director Jenn Kasper will be participating on a very part time basis this year as her full time responsibility will be being a mom. Jenn was married last fall becoming a step mother and is also expecting her first child in late June. Congratulations Jenn and Patrick Ednie. Lauren Travis has moved from the area and will not be with us this season. Although she will be missed her Head Coach position will be filled with very capable 6th season coach Ian Walsh. Ian has finished his Masters at Bloomsburg University and has committed the summer to our team. Ian has an extensively decorated swim background which includes being an All-American and a record breaking high school and college swimmer. Most recently he’s been working with the sprint and mid distance swimmers at Bloomsburg to develop their dry land programs. Joining Ian is returning 4th year coach Nick Pirrocco who will be a senior at East Stroudsburg University studying Health and Phys Ed. Nick was a competitive Varsity swimmer for his 4 years at Pocono Mount East High and is now their Assistant Varsity Swim Coach. Brendan Walsh also returns for his second year with LNC. Like his brother, Brendan was a record holding swimmer at a young age and swam through high school and college. He is very much looking forward to another great summer coaching after graduating from West Chester University’s Health and Phys Ed program. Tyler Dolph will also coach with us this year. Tyler is an Art Teacher and has coached the Varsity Swimmers at Pocono Mountain to two conference championships. After taking a year off last season he is very much looking forward to returning to LNC. New coach this year, although not new to the Club, is current Community Center staff member Liz Kelso. Liz swam competitively for 10 years with the Pocono YMCA and Pocono Mountain East High before attending East Stroudsburg University for Recreation Management. Liz is a welcome addition as she looks forward to sharing her passion for the sport with our team. The Swim Meet Schedule for 2012 is currently being set and will be available online beginning May 1st. At this time we can announce the swim season will begin Monday, June 25th and continue through the first week of August. Championships will be held Saturday, August 4th . Pre registration, event and trip signup, gear and suit orders will also be available online May 1st in an effort to get ahead for the season. Credit card payment is required with registrations and can be made under the Online Sign-Up in the Member section of the website at www.LakeNaomiClub.com. Cost for participation is $85 per child and is open to all Pool Club Members. The Season Organizational Swim Team Meeting and Registration will be held on Monday, June 25th at 9:00 AM at the Lake Naomi Pool. Parents and swimmers ages 6 to 18 are encouraged to attend this meeting to receive important information on registration, dates and times for practices and meets, swim team apparel orders and more. Questions regarding the program can be sent to Meredith Sensenig by calling the Community Center at 570-646-8585 or via email to: msensenig@lakenaomiclub.com Picture by - Kathy Hall

Tennis Tournaments The Tennis Committee has set the schedule for the 2012 Club Championship Tournaments: Junior Tennis Tournaments: The weekend of July 27th –July 29th will be dedicated to just their tournament, they will not share their weekend with any of the Adult Tournaments. This permits the Junior matches to have enough courts for play and an opportunity to utilize the stadium courts so everyone can watch the Juniors. Singles (junior, teen and rallyball), Doubles (junior, teen and rallyball) and Mixed Doubles (junior and teen) remain in the tournament. Junior divisions are for those 12 years of age and under and teens are for 13 to17 year olds. Rallyball is for those less experienced just getting into competitive play. Age deadline is based on your birthday as of Sept. 30, 2012. Adult Tennis Tournaments: The biggest change for the Adult Tournaments in 2012 is all Doubles Tournaments will take place over one weekend. This format was explored with the singles tourneys last year. Although it went well the Committee is switching the one weekend format to doubles rather than keeping it for singles. The hope is this change will encourage more singles play. The Singles Tournaments will take place over the July 7th/8th & 14th/15th weekends. The registration deadline for Singles is Wed., July 4th. The all matches Doubles Tourney weekend will take place July 21st & 22nd with a registration deadline of Wed., July 18th. Mixed Doubles is scheduled for Aug. 4th/5th and 11th/12th with a registration deadline of Aug. 1st. The “A”, “B” categories remain for all Divisions (Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles) of the Tournaments as well as the 65s for men’s and women’s singles and doubles. Players may only play in one category. Online Sign-Up is available for all tournaments and can be found in the Members Section of the www.lakenaomiclub.com website. All the additional details you’ll need including times, fees, rules and format for play will be outlined on the registration form available May 1st in the Proshop and online.

Not Ready For Prime Time (NRPT) Sailboat Racing NRPT is a sailing fleet designed for sailors that can sail but aren’t quite ready to race competitively. The idea is you don’t have to be a seasoned sailor to join in the fun. If you can tack into the wind and make your way around the set marks (a triangular course) then this is for you! These races are meant to be a learning experience as the Committee Boat Crew will help you with how and when you start and directions on how to get around the course. Skippers may also be offered pointers and instructions by the Safety Boat Operators. Junior and Adult sailors will be split into two separate fleets for scoring and will have separate race starts. NRPT sailing races are held on Saturdays for six weeks throughout the summer season beginning July 7th and finishing on August 18th. Races begin around 2:30 PM, just after the series races finish. These races are also conveniently scheduled just after the Adult Weekly Sailing Lessons held on Saturday mornings. Rental sailboats are available for NRPT if arranged in advance with the Sailing Office. A full listing of the six week schedule is in the Sailing section of the Summer Calendar and on the NRPT flyer posted on the bulletin board outside the Sailing Office on the beach level of the Lake Naomi Clubhouse. You should also be aware… the NRPT pennant flies on the flagpole on any Saturday there is scheduled NRPT racing. There’s sailing opportunities for sailors of all abilities on Lake Naomi, so come out to join in the fun!
Memorial Weekend Sailing Races The Sailing Season kicks off on Sunday, May 27th with the Memorial Day Sailing Races. There will be two races for all fleets (Sunfish, Laser and Duster) beginning at 12:00 Noon. Registration takes place on the beach prior to the first race. This is a great opportunity to get geared up and get yourself ready for another great competitive sailing season on Lake Naomi. Hope to see you all there!
Meg Whitney Memorial Fun Race The Lake Naomi Sailing Association is proud to announce The Meg Whitney Memorial Fun Race will be held for a second year, kicking off the NRPT (Not Ready for Prime Time) sailing season on July 7th at 2:30 PM. All Club Members, regardless of experience, are invited to participate in this race honoring the memory of Meg Whitney and the heritage of sailing at Lake Naomi. Meet other sailors, have fun and stay after the race for the awards presentation. You may sail in the race either by yourself or accompanied by one of Lake Naomi’s seasoned sailors. If you wish to participate and don’t have your own boat, the sailing office can arrange one for you. Registration for the race will take place through the sailing office at Club Beach starting on June 23rd and will continue up until the morning of the races.
Important Sailing Race Reminders The LNC Sailing Association requires all sailboats participating in any of the sailing races or regattas to have a number posted on their sail and check in with the Race Committee prior to racing to indicate your intention to race. When doing so simply sail to the downwind side of the “Tiki” and hail your information to the Race Committee. You must tell them your full name and boat number and that you’re registering to race. This is the norm for sailboat racing as it is the only way the Race Committee can track all participants including their starts and finishing order for the day’s scoring. It is also customary to inform the Race Committee if you’re leaving the racing before the final finish rather than leaving them to wonder what your intentions are. If you do not already have your sail numbered and wish to participate in the sailing races this summer, please stop by the Sailing Office located at Club Beach to be assigned an available number and purchase the actual numbers for your sail if you need them. While you’re there, please do not hesitate to ask the Sailing Staff for directions on how to properly affix the numbers to your sail if you do not have experience in doing so. The Sailing Office is open from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM on weekends beginning Memorial Day Weekend and full time beginning Saturday, June 23rd.

Swing Shop Swing Shop- Golf Tips, Etiquette, and Explanations by Bob Millard, PGA Golf Professional Playing this great game of golf is an amazing experience. The camaraderie, competitiveness and challenges golf presents is unlike any sport that I have ever played. Great players and great golf begins with great etiquette. Here are my 10 tips to etiquette greatness: 1. Always respect the golf course and your fellow Members. 2. Arrive 15 minutes prior to your tee time so that you don’t prevent other groups from teeing off on time. 3. Always call to cancel a tee time, allowing other Members to have access to the course. 4. The pace of play is vital, especially on a 9-hole course. Each group should be within a half of hole of the group in front of them. 5. If you are a beginner player, play the course when it isn’t busy. Higher handicap players must play after 2:00 PM on weekends. 6. Fix your ball marks and make it a practice to fix one other one as well. 7. Replace your divots. If the divot cannot be effectively replaced, use the sand/seed mixture instead. This is most important on the teeing areas. They are subject to heavy use and require everyone’s attention. 8. Rake bunkers after use and place the rake back inside the bunker. 9. Used and/or broken tees should be removed from the ground and placed in the containers provided in the tee box areas on each hole. 10. Always follow the posted cart path guidelines. We can’t stop the weather from effecting the condition of the course, but we can help prevent further damage that carts can create. Repair and maintenance of the golf course is not just a job for the Timber Trails Golf Maintenance Team. As Members of this Platinum Club we are fortunate to have such great facilities to enjoy. Let’s all lend a hand to keep it that way. 10
Golf Notes
With all the brilliant sunshine and warmth that March has given us in the Pocono Mountains, I know everyone is looking forward to playing some golf this year. Timber Trails is a great place to enjoy a round of golf. Whether with your family or friends, it’s one of the best manicured and challenging courses around. There is truly something for everyone: •For the Junior players we have a golf league on Tuesdays this year starting June 26th at 1:00 PM. This gives all the junior golfers in the community a chance to meet and play nine holes of golf together. We do ask that the participants have prior experience playing on the course. I will conduct my annual Junior Golf Clinic starting Thursday, July 5th. This is a tremendous way to get your youngster the crucial fundamentals and etiquette that will serve them well as they play this game of a lifetime. There are three groups for the junior clinic each Thursday: 5 to 8 year olds go from 4:15-5:15 PM, 9 to 11 year olds go from 5:15-6:15 PM and 12 to 17 year olds go from 6:15-7:15 PM. The cost for the six weeks of instruction is $50.00 per Junior. •Couples Golf will start Sunday, June 17th. This is a fun way for couples to come out and have a few laughs with other golfers and make new friends. The tentative starting time is 3:00 PM. Each week we will have fun and friendly games for all to enjoy. Members are welcome to bring drinks and food to have following the round. •The Ladies Golf League will start Thursday, May 31st. Players are asked to call the Golf Center to sign up no later than the Tuesdays before by 5:00 PM. The tee off on Thursdays is 9:00 AM. All players need to be at the course by 8:30 AM. This is imperative so that instructions for the game of the week can be explained. Playing in Ladies Day golf is a great way to make new friends at the Club and play a casual round of golf. •The Ladies Golf Clinic that has received rave reviews is back. The first clinic will be on Tuesday, June 5th at 9:00 AM. There will be five clinics June 5th, 12th,19th, 26th and July 3rd. Each week a different aspect of the game will be covered. The clinics are a great way to gain valuable insight into the swing and the short game. •The Men’s Golf League will start as soon as the golf course is open. The men tee off every Friday at 9:00 AM. All players are asked to arrive by 8:30 AM to get organized for play that day. The Men’s League will culminate with the annual cookout to be held on Friday, August 31st. Again this year we will have two PGM interns serving the Members. David Winch is a young man from Columbia, New York who attends Coastal Carolina University. James Gourley who hails from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and attends Penn State University will be on board starting in mid May. Come out to the Golf Center and give them a warm Lake Naomi Club welcome. New also this year, Lake Naomi Club has consolidated all purchases for logo apparel. This purchasing strategy will help to keep the Pro Shop supplied with a variety of new brands, colors and styles that should meet the needs of all Members’ preferences and price points. Stop in to see what is new all season long. This month’s trivia question: What world renowned golf course has a hole named after Satan’s anatomy? See you on the links! Bob Millard, PGA Golf Professional
Ladies’ Golf League The 2012 Season for the Ladies’ Golf League will begin on Thursday, May 31st and will meet every Thursday at 8:30 AM throughout the summer season. There are no requirements for this league except to be a Golf Member in good standing. Each Thursday, before the shotgun start, our golf pro Bob Millard will be offering a brief discussion on some aspect of the game. For more information contact the Golf Center at 646-9060.
Men’s Golf League The 2012 Men’s Golf League is poised and ready to get underway. All men who are golf Members in good standing are invited to attend any Friday morning starting April 13th (weather permitting). There are no other requirements and all levels of golfers are encouraged to participate. This weekly social gathering meets on Fridays at 8:45 AM at the Timber Trails Golf Course and begins at 9:00 AM with a shotgun start. For more information contact the Golf Center at 570, 646-9060.
Trout Season Opening The 2012 Fishing season for trout opens Saturday, April 14th at 8:00 AM on all streams, lakes and ponds in the area. In preparation for this event, the Club will be stocking up stream and down stream of Lake Naomi with rainbow and brown trout. The first Spring Fish Stocking will take place on Saturday, April 7th from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The trout will be released in the upper and lower streams. This rain or shine event is great for the family, many hands are needed. Meet in the Administrative Office parking lot at 8:00 AM for coffee, hot chocolate and donuts. This is part of the annual stocking program conducted by the Lakes Committee of the Lake Naomi Club. Please note that the Club’s creel limit for trout is different than the State of Pennsylvania. The creel limit for trout in Lake Naomi is four (4) and all fish must measure at least seven (7”) inches. Resident licenses for ages 16 to 64 are $22.70. Non-resident licenses are $52.70. Trout permits are $9.70 additional. You qualify for a resident fishing license if you are a bona fide resident of Pennsylvania. You must show positive proof of permanent residence. There is a one day tourist pass that includes all stamps and licenses for $26.70 (not valid in April). Purchase your fishing license online at PA Fish and Boat Commission website – www. fish.state.pa.us/license.htm. It only takes a few moments to purchase your PA Fishing License and related permits (stamps). If you rent your home please share this information with your renters so they too can enjoy great fishing at LN-TT. Any questions on the locations of sport and bait shops in our area where you can obtain regulations, laws and licensing should be directed to the Administrative Office.
RC Laser Winter Regatta On Sunday, February 5th the Lake Naomi Club hosted their annual Winter RC Laser Regatta which is an open event inviting sailors from other areas to come share our perfect indoor conditions. “Perfect” is not an exaggeration… the 80 degree indoor temperature coupled with 11 fans providing consistent wind conditions all in a 25 meter pool where boats don’t get out of sight or reach at any time. That’s pretty perfect, especially in the middle of winter. As far as we know LNC is the only club running RC Laser Regattas in an indoor pool!!! Way to go Lake Naomi Club! This year seven sailors completed twenty-one, two and a half lap races in a span of four hours. It was great competition and camaraderie around the pool with spectators enjoying the sailing as much as the skippers. Many thanks to visiting sailor Bill Clausen for serving as Race Director and Fran Whipple for keeping scores for the event. Below are the results of the races: Jamie Betz (visiting sailor) – 37 pts and Winner of Regatta Dave Brawner (visiting sailor) – 47pts Nick Mortgu (visiting sailor) – 56 pts Dean Neely (LNC Member) – 66 pts John Whipple (LNC Member) – 66pts Ken Shaw (visiting sailor) – 82 pts Sue Neely (LNC Member) – 95 pts Go to the www.Facebook.com/LakeNaomiClub to view one of the race 2012 Indoor RC Laser regatta participants (L to R): Fran videos. We Care Program
Bill Clausen, Race Director John Whipple, Dean Neely
Lake Naomi – Timber Trails prides itself in being a very supportive community. Many Members have experienced assistance from neighbors, Ranger Department, Ambulance Corps, Fire Company and Pocono Mountain Regional Police. A program offered by the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department, appropriately titled “We Care”, is designed to provide added security to the elderly, disabled or ill who live alone. Each day, except Sunday, between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM, the participating person is to call the Police Department and “check in” so that the Police know everything is fine and that they are well. If no call is received by 11:00 AM, the Police will call them. If no response is obtained, an Officer and Ranger will be dispatched to the residence to check on their well being. Encourage friends, neighbors and acquaintances that live in the area and may need this service to contact PMRPD at 570, 895-2400 or the Ranger Department at 570, 646-9191 to request a “We Care” application.

Facility Access for Friends and Family If you loan your home to friends or relatives, or if you have guests at your home while you are present, the following is a review of how they can access the facilities. When you have guests at your home while you are present: You have the privilege of bringing guests to any facility for which you hold Membership. Your Leisure Service Guide lists specific information on guest limits and fees for each facility. Any individual may be your guest at the Community Center (20) times a year and all other facilities up to ten (10) times during one Membership (calendar) Year except property owners in LN-TT who choose not to join the Club or who choose not to join the optional facilities. Grown children and grandchildren who only visit occasionally and don’t have a Special Family Membership can also participate as your guests. Members are required to accompany and introduce their guests when they are making use of the Club Facilities. Individual guest badges are paid for and issued at each facility. When someone is utilizing your home while you are not here: If someone will be utilizing your home while you are not here, the only way these house guests can utilize the facilities is by acquiring a Temporary Membership for the time they are here (unless it is a son or daughter who has their own “Special Family Membership”). In the event all of the approvals are received this Spring, the Club would plan to close on the acquisition of the property in late May or early June. Details of the proposed purchase, including all financial details, would be included with the ballot requesting Membership approval. At the current time the Club does not anticipate that the purchase of this key parcel of land would trigger an additional assessment for Club Members. The only dollars the Club currently has at risk is the $10,000 required to purchase the option on the property. In the event the Club closes on the property this $10,000 will be applied to the purchase price. Why is there a fence on the property line next to the Clubhouse? Long time Club Members have purchased the two remaining lots adjacent to the Clubhouse and are in the process of building an outstanding house on the property. Because the Clubhouse property is a high traffic area and construction sites present many dangers, the Club requested the Builder, Oak Ridge Construction, install a temporary fence until the construction project is completed. The Contractor agreed to install the fence and to use green construction fence to make it as unobtrusive as possible. When is the actual membership year? The Club’s membership year runs from January 1st to December 31st of each year. What day will the Club be holding the Family Independence Day Picnic for 2012? The 2012 Independence Day picnic will be held on Wednesday, July 4th at Club Beach.
