The Benton County Wine Trail is becoming popular and is only 30 miles from the Lake.
Is the heat getting you down this summer? A day trip to an inside destination is in order, and a wine trail visit is the way to go to keep cool! The Benton County Wine Trail is becoming pretty well known as Missouri Wine
Trails go. Warsaw is only located about 30 miles from Lake of the Ozarks, traveling the backroads from US 7 at Greeview to Warsaw. Each April the Benton County Community
Foundation hosts a wine stroll since the area has become so popular to wine lovers. The annual event benefits community projects and non-profits and has been combined in recent years with an art walk that includes local wine businesses.
First visiting Benton Ridge Winery and Campground, it’s a place that you can fully relax in the backwoods and have lodging if you choose to stay. An impressive undertaking for retired firefighter Gene Gould, he’s not resting during his post work careeer. Benton Ridge Winery serves
Missouri made wines like St. James and Adam Puchta.
They also offer all the accompanying favorites such as cheese and meat trays, and oven fired pizza in the bistro.
Wine can be enjoyed by the bottle or glass. In this hot weather, a wine slushy or frozen might be more desirable, however.
Two large nearby ponds with adjoining nature trails make a great place to relax when the sun goes down and the day’s heat melts away.
Benton Ridge Winery and Campground is located at: 25518 Fitzpatrick Ave, Warsaw.
While in town at Warsaw, the best choice for eats is found downtown at The Yellow Deli. This funky café features fresh, farm to table food with a few unexpected treats. First, it’s a stellar stop for cold drinks. Artisan tea blends over ice is offered with many choices. But the smooth, cold banana milk is a refreshing pick me up. The chilled salmon salad sandwich is served on ciabatta bread made by the deli daily. The salmon is trucked in fresh from their family business in Alaska.
Its worth a visit to The Yellow Deli just to view the furnishings. Tin ceilings and rustic booth design offer a place to huddle down on a hot summer afternoon. Located in the former Osage
Hotel, this historic stop is a gem when traveling to Warsaw.
The Yellow Deli is located at 145 W Main Street, Warsaw. Strangely enough, they are open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. Only closed Friday at 4 p.m. through Sunday at noon. So don’t hesitate with a midnight snack craving,
The Yellow Deli is open.
Outside of town
Escape the highways to a backroad that runs between Cole Camp and Sedalia on the route to Warsaw. From Lake of the Ozarks, Highway 135 N takes travelers through Stover. Venture up Highway 135 N just west of Stover to Wildlife Ridge Winery.
We shuck ‘em, you suck ‘em!

The elegant gate hints at what lies just past the adjoining cattle fields. A quaint little lake is nestled up to the wooden building that houses Wildlife Ridge Winery. A Missouri grown winery, the wine is produced at Les Bougois Winery in Rocheport, but the owners of Wildlife Ridge subcontract the press rooms to create their own wine for Wildlife Ridge.
