A Soul Sister is someone you can talk to about EVERYTHING! You reminisce, learn, dance, sing, complain, celebrate, play, cry, and dream. Brought together by fate and kept together by love, Soul Sisters are forever yin and yang … from the very first breath to the very last, they have each other’s back.

THIS MONTH, LKNW CELEBRATES ANGIE BRAWLEY WITH SOUL SISTERS JOANNE COWIN AND KIM FAUS

THE THREE MUSKETEERS We all met at East Carolina University when we were pledging Chi Omega sorority in 1991. We were also college roommates. We each have completely different personalities but similar interests, so we balance each other well … and we laugh A LOT when we’re together. We’re a great match all the way around.

WHEN IT MATTERS MOST In 2019, I went through the fight of my life with breast cancer. I was so grateful to have my two soul sisters by my side. They came to most of my chemo treatments and cooked meals for my family. I feel so blessed to have them. Today I am cancer-free, and I owe so much to Joanne and Kim. They truly showed up when I needed them the most and demonstrated what real love and friendship look like … I am forever grateful.

NEVER MISSED A BEAT I lost touch with them after I got married in 1997, but we quickly reunited when Joanne and Kim both moved to Mooresville from Raleigh in 2015. Today, the three of us are closer than ever … and I love and appreciate them more than ever, too.

BON VOYAGE Our favorite trip together was a trip to Aruba we took with our families. Our favorite girls’ trip was to Nashville last year. It was during Covid, but we were celebrating a 50th birthday so we took all the necessary precautions and made it happen … it turned out to be an amazing trip! My favorite road trip story, however, was when we went to a last-minute Darius Rucker concert in Charleston. We thought it was an indoor concert … we were wrong! We arrived in the pouring rain to realize it was outdoors. It rained the entire time, but we still had a blast and made incredible memories.

OR MAYBE JUST A BACKYARD BBQ Our favorite thing to do is getting together with our families. Our husbands are great friends, and our kids also get along well. We are most content to just gather in the backyard for a cookout or go find fun on the lake. w
