Welcome to a swamp like no other, where there are bickering toads, overbearing fairies and a rather gentle swamp monster. Using fiendishly clever shadow puppetry, and a stunning 3D finale which has audiences screaming with laughter, horror and delight simultaneously, Jeff Achtem’s acclaimed new show is quite simply stunning theatre for audiences of all ages. Following a sell-out, five5 star run at the Edinburgh Festival 2011, we are delighted to be promoting this Total Theatre Award-winning show as part of our 2012 Festival. “A joyous hour of five-star genius” Donald Hutera, The Times “Madly enjoyable” Lyn Gardner, The Guardian 18 May South Holland Centre, Spalding 3, 4 June Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottingham - as part of Wheee! Children’s Theatre and Dance Festival 6, 7 June Curve Theatre, Leicester - as part of The Spark Children’s Arts Festival 8 June Lincoln Drill Hall, Lincoln

Michael Rosen, the children’s novelist and poet, and Mike Kenny, writer and playwright, are the patrons of Jump In. Michael, who was the fifth Children’s Laureate until 2009, has written around 140 books including We’re Going On A Bear Hunt and The Michael Rosen Book of Nonsense. Mike won an Olivier Award and the Broadway World UK Award for his adaptation of E Nesbit's The Railway Children which sold out in York and London.

“I am delighted to be asked to be patron of Jump In. Theatre and dance are the most exciting ways of engaging us all, young people in particular, in ideas, feelings, movement, language and music. Whether you participate directly in theatre and dance or simply watch it, you have a sense of thought-in-action unfolding and that even just sitting in your seat, that you are part of it. It is also a highly collaborative, co-operative process giving people a chance to work out what they can do together to get things done and to make things that affect others. The East Midlands has been a wonderful centre for young people’s theatre for many years and I’m delighted to see that this tradition is flourishing.”

Welcome! The East Midlands Children’s Theatre Consortium has been working together since 2005 to bring high quality international work aimed at children and families to the region. In 2012, we have gone a giant step further. And we are thrilled to bring four fantastic companies to the East Midlands as part of the regional Cultural Olympiad.

With funding from Legacy Trust UK through Igniting Ambition, and Arts Council England, the consortium has expanded to introduce this brilliant, colourful and vibrant work to Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire. The performances - from Scotland, Italy, Canada and Spain - are all award-winning. Each one is different, and ticket prices suit all pockets. The performances are made especially for children and their families; so whether you’re aged two or 92, Jump In will knock your socks off!
