Wheee!
4 - 10 June 2010 Lakeside’s International Children’s Theatre & Dance Festival
WELCOME TO
! e e e Wh 2010 is the sixth Lakeside International Children’s Theatre Festival, and - now we are six - we’ve decided to do away with the longest festival title ever and introduce a new one which is much shorter and is also much more representative of the child and familyfriendly delights that it represents.
Wheee!
brings a wealth of talent from Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Scotland with some absolutely beautiful theatre which will in turn delight, charm and thrill you and your children.
Nat Gras’ lovely Sheeptight will make children smile with recognition and will also ring true with every adult who’s ever struggled to get their little one into bed at night; TPO’s Kurdish Garden is sumptuously beautiful with their magic carpet digital imagery presenting stunning visuals and gentle dance that everyone can enjoy; Andy Manley’s brilliantly appealing My House was recently on Broadway as part of an award-winning season of Scottish theatre; and Aracaladanza’s Nubes is quite simply everything that’s great about Aracaladanza in one glorious show. Add to that a fab festival weekend including: wild lakeside walks in Highfields Park with the artist Karen Logan; an enchanting Oogly Boogly experience for 12 - 18 month olds and their parents or carers; a site specific performance 'On the Way to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party' from Lakeside's Youth Theatre and Maison Foo; a story tent; a Labyrinth with a Wishing Tree at its centre; a clutch of different make and do workshops including origami, jewellery-making, and puppet making plus henna-hand painting and face-painting, an interactive Watering Tree and crowd-pleasing sets from comedian James Campbell and local rock 'n' roll heroes Johnny and the Raindrops. Top all that off with a totally brilliant Architects of Air Luminarium - Levity II - and you have a recipe for sheer delight all round. Looking forward to seeing you at the festival! Shona, and everyone at Lakeside
