FUN FACTS
¼ The complete arena encompasses 650,000 square feet.
¼ There is more than 200,000 square feet of marble lining the interior concourses and walls.
¼ The building’s roof spans 444 feet by 329 feet, more than 100 feet above the arena floor.
¼ Ice is made for hockey games thanks to 10 miles of piping that travels along the arena’s concrete floor.
¼ When ice is needed for an event, a solution made up of 40 percent ethylene glycol and 60 percent water is pumped through the piping, freezing the concrete. A thin layer of water is then pumped onto the floor and freezes to the concrete. Logos and ice markings are painted and another layer of ice is added.
¼ It takes roughly 30 hours and 15,000 gallons of water to complete the ice making process, but only five to six hours to remove the ice at the end of the season.
¼ Ice hockey is played on ice that is 1 1/4 inches thick with a floor temperature of 21 degrees. The ice for figure skating is 2 inches thick and 25 to 26 degrees. Figure skaters need the ice to be thicker and softer for jumping and landing.
¼ It takes eight hours for a 25-man crew to go from hockey to a concert setup.

ANAHEIM CONVENTION CENTER
If you’re anywhere near the Anaheim Resort, it’s impossible to miss the impressive Anaheim Convention Center (ACC), a worldrenowned meeting and exhibit venue. It’s also host to global meetings, trade shows, and conventions including Disney’s D23 Expo, National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Show, Natural Products Expo West, and more. The ACC is consistently ranked as one of the top meeting venues in the U.S. in terms of its size, attendance, overall building services, and amenities. Its 1.8 million square
feet of space makes it the largest convention center on the West Coast, so the ultramodern facility can host mega-conventions, meetings, and tradeshows with ease.
The venue is also a shining example of Anaheim’s commitment to sustainability, remaining as one of the largest convention centers in North America with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
The center is outfitted with a 2,000-square-foot rooftop garden filled with
adaptive plants and herbs. The garden area is used to reclaim water and cool parts of the building. In addition, 3,000 square feet of solar panels line the roof and provide roughly 17 percent of the center’s energy. The building also has an on-site recycling center that turns food waste and kitchen scraps into nutrientrich compost used for the gardens throughout The Anaheim Resort.

STAR POWER
Anaheim-area restaurants are full of stars. Many Orange County establishments received recommendations in the newest Michelin Guide, two of them right here in Anaheim. The guide rates more than 40,000 establishments across three continents, and anonymous inspectors rate each spot using five criteria: the quality of products, mastery of flavor and cooking techniques, how the chef’s personality is represented in the dining experience, flavors, and consistency.
Restaurants are never notified when inspectors will visit, and they return to each establishment multiple times to verify their initial assessment. While a (very rare) three-star rating is most coveted, just being included in the famed red book is an endorsement. These places are judged by the same five criteria used for starred and Bib Gourmand restaurants and are recognized as serving outstanding food.

Some of America’s bestknown brands were founded right here in Anaheim. From influential instruments to timeless skater apparel, these companies have introduced Anaheim’s spirit to a global audience.
Fender Guitars
Founded in 1946 by Clarence Leonidas “Leo” Fender, this company became universally known in 1950 after the introduction of the Telecaster, the first mass-produced electric guitar. Rock and country legends such as Keith Richards, Buck Owens, and Jeff Buckley have all played Fender guitars onstage, cementing their reputation as the best instruments in the business. fender.com
Vans Shoes
In 1966, brothers Paul Van Doren and Jim Van Doren partnered up with Gordon Lee and Serge Delia to open The Van Doren Rubber Company, a shoe retailer that manufactured its products in-house and sold them directly to the public. They became synonymous with skater style, but their mass appeal exploded after Sean Penn wore the Classic Slip-Ons in 1982’s “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” vans.com

HOMETOWN HEROES
Anaheim Ducks
The Anaheim Ducks recently unveiled a new logo and jerseys for the 2024–25 NHL season as part of a brand evolution featuring the classic, world-famous Ducks logo. The team’s home jersey is a vibrant orange with ‘90s flair, chosen to reflect the team’s home in O. C. and the area’s ties to citrus farming. And, during the team’s away games, the players will proudly wear a Visit Anaheim patch on their white jerseys to highlight the city’s thriving tourism industry. Mike Waterman, President and CEO, Visit Anaheim, believes the organization makes a great partner. “We’re excited to reach new audiences and inspire more visitors to experience everything Anaheim has to offer,” he says.
The Ducks were formed in 1993 when the National Hockey League (NHL) granted an expansion franchise to The Walt Disney Company. They named the team after their hit film, “The Mighty Ducks.” In 2007, after they shed “Mighty” from their name, the Ducks won their first Stanley Cup by defeating the Ottawa Senators in five games.
The Ducks, now owned by the Samueli family, have collected six Pacific Division titles, two Stanley Cup Finals appearances, and five Western Conference Finals appearances in their 30-year franchise history. Honda Center 2695 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim; (877) WILD–WING; AnaheimDucks.com

MAKE A SPLASH
If splashing around under the Southern California sun is on your bucket list, you need a hotel with outstanding water features. We’ve rounded up some of our favorites, whether you want a serene oasis or a boisterous waterpark. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
Opened in 2024, the Pixar Place Hotel® celebrates the works and animations of Pixar Animation Studios with themed rooms and amenities. The “Finding Nemo”inspired pool features a spacious pool deck for lounging while kids can make the most of the splash pad and 186-foot-long water slide. Hot tip: If you’re a hotel guest, this is also one of the best spots in town to catch Disneyland ® Park’s fireworks show.
There’s a reason the Disneyland ® Hotel is iconic: Guests are surrounded by magic the moment they walk through the doors. Luxurious amenities and thoughtful kid-friendly touches are everywhere.
The hotel’s two pools are no exception, surrounded by lush gardens and towering palms. Kids and parents alike can enjoy the twists and turns of the two waterslides that splash into the Monorail Pool while younger ones can play in the shallow pool (complete with its own mini slide). If you’re looking to relax, head to the sprawling, 4,800-square-foot E-Ticket Pool to catch some rays. Or head over to the new Villas at the Disneyland ® Hotel to soak up some inspiration—along with some sun—at the palette-shaped pool, featuring a Steamboat Willie splash pad. Lounge poolside in one of
the cabanas and order delicious treats and drinks from the bar.
At the JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort , modern elegance meets unparalleled hospitality. Located in the Anaheim Resort District, this four-star hotel is a new addition to the area’s resort scene and boasts a stunning rooftop pool with panoramic views of the city skyline. WIN, LOSE, AND DRAW
“Minimalist,” “high-quality,” and “imaginative” aren’t usually descriptions used for sports-themed art, but graphic artist S. Preston has (literally) changed the game. Preston calls his original designs “living-room worthy,” a slightly selfdeprecating way of acknowledging that his works are decidedly high-end showpieces. His work ranges from clean, modern depictions of Major League Baseball and National Hockey League venues to playful depictions of Looney Toons and Sesame Street characters.
Preston is one of only four artists licensed with MLB and the only artist licensed by the NHL. The former sports broadcaster turned graphic artist got his big break when he shared some of his graphic illustrations on social media. “Most people who post sports art on the internet get a cease-and-desist letter,” he jokes. “I was fortunate to get
contacted by the league to work together.” In 2016, his artwork was added to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Visitors can view Preston’s collections at his eponymous GardenWalk gallery, situated one block from Disneyland® Resort and six blocks from Angel Stadium and the Honda Center—a location he describes as “literally right in the middle of all of the stuff I love.”
“I’m passionate about baseball, hockey, and Disney,” he says. “Everything that I’m interested in is right here in Anaheim.”
Preston regularly attends Angels and Ducks games, and is a proud Magic Key holder at Disneyland® Resort. “I love working with the city,” he says, noting that the gallery offers visitors a chance to bring home a piece of Anaheim. “I want everyone to love this city as much as I do.” S.
