Who says kids don't like to read? Mrs. Gilmore's Honors English 10 c1ass enjoy their favorite part of class: independent reading.

Mrs. Wolynski is full of surprises. She's the kind of teacher that would dance with a ram or dress up to perform the "Snowball rap" she wrote to bring fun and entertainment to the Animal Farm unit.

Taking the reading portion of the ACT is difficult because the reading passages are so complex. Tenth graders practice guided highlighting, an approach to breaking down complex text, in preparation for the big exam . Below: Zakary laFrance. Left: Travis Lawler and Kyle Liner.

New course offered in Math Department: Advanced Placement Calculus AS

As a student in an upper level math class, I think it's important to keep on going with math. Even if you feel like you are never going to use it again (l have that feeling at times), it still helps you with basic logic. Sometimes, the only good reason to pursue something is to gain logic and insight. Think of it . this way, even though you won't use trigonometry 10 everyday life, just learning it is expanding your br~in power and understanding. Next year, Lamphere will be offering an AP Calculus class. I'm very happy about this because I wasn't planning on going to CASA.

I feel like you should stick close to your school. Also, if an AP course is offered here, you t have to deal with any pressure you may have to still choose challenging classes. You hear that senior year is a blow off year, but don't look at it that way. If you make senior year a blow off, you will regret it in the long run, realizing that college will be a lot tougher. Take the challenging classes now to prepare yourself for college. Also, there is nothing wrong with earning a little bit of college credit on the way. -Lawrence Karoumy, Junior

The diversity club is more than just a school club. It promotes equality and diversity ofcultures throughout the school and the world. You may think of the diversity club as the group with all the new immigrants, but that's not true. There are plenty of students, born in America. that pin this club. You don't have to worry about being excluded in the diversity club because everyone is aa:epted and the leaders are friendly. One of the largest events held by the Diversity Club is their Thanksgiving dinner. The photos show you a little about what goes down at the event Students get together and bring in foods from all different cultures. They even perform special dances and they wear clothes from their cultural background. This dinner is aimed at teaching others about different cultures and traditions from around the world in order to bring all the diverse cultures together.

Oh no! Desiree Chalmers is getting a ticket for drinking and driving! After each driver got out of the car, he/she got a "ticket," which was really an effective speech on the dangers of drinking or texting while driving.

Mrs. Gilmore speaks to the SADD students about former LHS student Chelsea Johnson's car, which was hit by a drunk driver this past summer. Chelsea suffered major injuries. The car served as a reminder of the dangers of drinking and driving.

The word diversity often pops up in conversation, but do we take time to think about how it relates to us... Dictiooory.com defines the noun diversity as ~a point of difference." Ola Joseph says, 1)iversity is not about how we differ. Diversity is about embracing one another's lJ1iqueness." I'd like to thirk of diversity as something that separates us and yet unites us at the same time. There are no two people today who are exactly the same because we all have one thing or maybe even 88 things that make us Olr own person (unique). Wrat makes us different...different nail polish, different tattoos, different cell phones, or is it different interests, different dreams, different perspectiVes? Isn't it greatl Wrat a wonderful time to be alive, when there are so many possibilities. We can experience so much, learn so much and grow exponentially. All we have to do is embrace 0Lr Diversityl

Kickin More than the Ball It's not about the uniforms, the pictures, or the scoreboard. It all comes down to YOU and the BALL. Fight or flight. The JV soccer team is proof of this. Their skill, concentration, and strength shows up in any competition they have. Not only is their dedication admirable, but the teamwork as well. Mter a great season from them, we wonder whats coming next year. Great job guys!

More importantly, they brought their league record to 3-2, which has roven good enough to earn them the title of Co-Champions in the MAC Silver Division. VARSITY

This year's varsity cheer team was amazing! Everyone was very determined to make this year the best. On the team this year there was no freshman so everyone already had experienced being on a Lamphere team. They practiced over the summer a lot to make this season their best and obviously it showed. The girls cheered on their varsity football teams all the way to playoffs. Overall this season was better then ever, one that will never be forgotten.

I This years JV cheerleading squad worked extra hard. They practiced all summer and conditioned a lot. They cheered at every JV football game and dawned jerseys just like the boys! The girls had a great time bonding with eachother and really became a strong team from June till October. They cheered loud and stunted great and made this season the best it could be!

The Rams had a very impressive season this year. In previous years our goal for the end of the season was to be 500, (same amount of wins as loses,) but this year we achieved that goal half way through the season. There's a lot of heart in every body including the coaches and fan base. Lamphere had recently accepted 4 new coaches for this season who had put faith into the team and brought the, "If you don't give up on me, then I won' give up on you," attitude. That type of attitude is exactly what the team needed to get us all on the same level and ready to use our skill as a team.

The LHS Boys' Swim and Dive team have worked crazy hard this season. Christian Calverley made it in 10 events for States, every individual event. At Leagues, the team took home fourth place overall. That's fantastic! Through morning practices, they discovered that chlorine is the breakfast of champions. Through long afternoon practices, they discovered that oxygen is overrated. Through hard work and perseverance, they accomplished what most teams cannot. They managed to look over the bad times and remember the good times, and remember that they're not just a team, they are friends and have become a family. Great season, guys. Good luck next season!

They lost all of their games, but put forth their best effort every game and really came together as a team in the end. So many of their games came down to the last couple of shots, which never seemed to go their way. Coach Wooley inspired the team through the use quotes from NCAA coaches. He also made the plays easily understandable for the boys. But great coaching couldn't overcome the height disadvange and inexperience in "pressing" the team had. Top scores were Daniel Delpier and Claudiu Gherasim.
