Title of Work: HASAN TANIK CAMİ Type of Building : MOSQUE Location of Work : ÇANKAYA / ANKARA Month and Year of Completion of Work : January 2010

Light Sources Used: Metal Halide Lamps, Led Lamps. T5 Fluorescent Lamps. Lighting Project Description: In the project; mostly light contrast method is used to make the Mosque different. Therefore, all the surfaces and light colour temperatures are thought differently. The Minarets are illuminated with 3000K and 4000K light colours. 4000K is used in the upper sides of the Minarets and 3000K is used in lower sections. The domes are illuminated with 4000K coloured

lamps to emphasize the difference between the cubic form of the Mosque.

El planteamiento lumínico del Gran Casino Costa Brava obedece a un concepto acorde con los preceptos intrínsecos de un casino (espectacularidad, dinamismo, ambiente festivo…) en el marco de una propuesta arquitectónica ordenada y coherente con el entorno en la que se inserta.

El punto de atención lumínico del Gran Casino se ubica en la fachada principal mediante la disposición lineal de un sistema de alumbrado que se integra en los planos inclinados de la fachada. Dichos planos se abren en celosía frente al espacio del foyer mediante una fachada que proporciona identidad al casino gracias al sistema digital de iluminación que se extiende hacia la marquesina. Las luminarias de fluorescencia tubular, diseñadas por Artec para este proyecto específico, refuerzan el carácter facetado de la fachada, al tiempo que forman un conjunto coherente e indi-

De este modo, las luminarias –representadas como una matriz media de leds SMD RGB ordenados a distancia de 1 metro– se convierten en foco de atracción para los visitantes gracias al dinamismo que transmiten los efectos de color y movimiento generados a partir del instante en que empieza a anochecer. La iluminación de la fachada se emplea también para generar efectos lumínicos especiales que se adaptan a las actividades programadas por el casino.


LAMP AWARDS 2011 SPORTS PAVILION ZESTIENHOVEN ROTTERDAM SPORTS PAVILION ZESTIENHOVEN ROTTERDAM

Recently a new sports-pavilion is delivered for two soccer clubs in Ro erdam, The Netherlands. The project is part of the development of Park Zes enhoven; a large new suburban neighborhood adjacent to the city center and the airport.

TYPE OF BUILDING Sports pavilion

DESIGN CONCEPT

Within the open space between the airport and newly developed houses in the park, the aim for the design was to create a transparent and ‘lightweight’ pavilion. The building is set up in two levels; the clubhouses and the boardrooms are situated on the top oor of the building. This level is directly connected to the pitches by grass-covered slopes. These slopes cover the ground oor with its dressing rooms and storage areas, and provide a natural grandstand for spectators. The building is iconic in its direct environment due to the con nuous outline and its freestanding posi on.

LIGHTING CONCEPT

The nal piece of the building is the translucent can levered roof. In the evening it illuminates thanks to the integra on of LED powered ligh ng. The can levered roof is build with two translucent membranes spanned over a steel construc on. With the ligh ng armatures integrated in between, the whole se ng works like a lampoon; ligh ng the roof from the inside.

SUSTAINABILITY

Both the roof and the grass-covered slopes contribute to the sustainability of the design. The roof lters direct sunlight during the day, reducing the development of unnecessary warmth in the building. The grass-covered slopes provide extra insula on to the ground oor on a natural way.

Hope Tree installation was envisioned as a spatial condition that attended to question our surrounding as we know it and hoping to generate a discussion and understanding amongst the visitors about the place of our environment.

Lately, we are bombarded with products that try to deal with the consequences of environmental damages globally, but occasionally we overlook the roots of these occurring problems by not fully understanding our environment.

Throughout ages tree has been the most primitive form of a shelter, garden, and, most importantly, our companion. With human innovation and intervention, a tree has been contributing to our lives taking a different form, from a simple paper sheet to a complex house. Every fruit, flower and leaf that bears from tree symbolizes a change and hope for tomorrow. But, even a strong standing tree is frail. If not taken care properly we may eventually cease its presence.

The installation was situated within the 20 feet shipping container. The construction of a toroidal space, composed of 670 self-supporting watercolor paper panels in spatial arch construction, within a container enclosure was created. The symmetry of toroidal form allowed for minimized typological variation of the box panel easing the manufacturing process. Leaf-like cutouts deformed accordingly to the geometry of the box panels. The openings were backed with a tracing paper, which performed as a diffusing surface for the LED string lighting beyond. The application of LED lighting allowed the coverage of the entire space with minimal watt usage.

Furthermore, the property of watercolor paper provided a dynamic response to the environmental factor within and outside of the container. The humidity and condensation created within the container during the constantly changing weather conditions during the duration of the exhibition allowed the leaf-like cutout to warp out and expose the diffused lighting each day.




Title of Work: V채stra Eriksberg, Crane and Dock Type of Building/Space: Public Space Location of Work: Gothenburg, Sweden Month and Year of Completion of Work: february 2009 Light Sources Used: LED, metal halide, fluorescents Lighting Project Description: V채stra Eriksberg, a former shipyard close to the centre of Gothenburg, Sweden, has undergone an enormous change being transformed into an area for living. The challenge for the lighting design was to create a friendly living environment sensitive to human scale yet celebrating its historical past by highlighting the industrial giant the crane. This should become a warm and welcoming environment where people feel safe and relaxed, yet offering an inspiring dimension to it. By illuminating the inner face of the crane and details it is given a different, more elegant appearance night time - a delicate urban sculpture with a subtle trace of history. In order to keep the light only to the inner faces of the structure extremely narrow red LED fixtures were placed on top of the cabin totally hidden and easily accessible from the staircase. This solution made it possible to lower the energy consumption to 2000W for the whole crane compared to previous illumination of 20.000W. At the end of the dock lighting has been integrated into the wooden landscape giving a soft glow of reflected light. It makes this place an attractive viewing and meeting point. A project-designed wall-luminaire with a robust character reminds of the industrial scale and frames the dock. The pedestrian bridge has integrated lighting in the handrail on both sides and its illumination on the underside gives a counterpart to the landmark illumination. The residential streets are lit by downward-directed modern street lanterns with excellent colour rendering.


DOMPLEIN MARKING UTRECHT This guardian line is marked with corten steel elements at street level, directly above the original castellum wall. Green light and wisps of mist emanate from the marking and the borders of the Roman Empire are engraved in the steel. On special occasions the colour of the mist can vary from yellow at Easter to blue on university festivities. The marking, laid out in four streets, is operated from a central installation and computer. All the techniques were brought together in a one-to-one scale prototype module and tested with heavy traffic loads. Only then was begun with the phase’s execution on the Domplein itself. Two parts of the project have now been delivered.

Title of Work: Axeltorv Type of Building/Space: Public square Location of Work: Elsinore, Denmark Month and Year of Completion of Work: May 2010 Light Sources Used: LED, metal halide, compact fluorescent, fibre optics Lighting Project Description: Axeltorv is a small square in the heart of the historic town Elsinore in Denmark. It is here people meet and enjoy a beer in summer. The challenge for this lighting project was to give an authentic feeling for a new lighting scheme that anyhow should feel modern. The departure point was the municipality's vision with four keywords: authenticity, tranquility, closeness and mystery. The square is well defined by the double row of lime trees and the monument “Eric of Pomerania” creates a natural focal point. His famous statement “My hope is to the sea” is engraved in stone. By illuminating the tree frame we enhance the square’s definition and allow for some darkness in the middle for a magic moment of one hundred little light “reflections” to appear which reveals Eric of Pomerania’s hope to the sea. This is an interactive installation: One can listen to 5 different stories via a free call and the stream of light will turn into a sea-blue colour. “Axeltorv lantern” is a project-designed luminaire with a timeless look while being multifunctional: Located in line with the outer row of trees it is giving light to the street and the facades while creating a soft light within the tree crown. In winter the lanterns give more surrounding light and the illuminated facades frame the space. Incorporating the seasonal changes contributes to a natural, authentic design. Axeltorv-lantern is very pleasant with its golden shine and no glare. The new detailed installation is using 30% less energy in comparison to the old flood-lighting. Sustainability - in our eyes - is not only an environmental issue but the social aspect is of great importance, too. We created a space where you can see the stars and feel the history, thereby strengthening the identity of Axeltorv.

LIGHT CYCLES stations equipped with solar panels spread in interesting urban sites that define a dynamic light network with a cultural and touristic dimension. Cyclers can discover by night the architectural heritage of the city. Each station provides the bicycles in energy and light and its lighting intensity varies depending on the number of light cycles available. An interactive lighting system is then created between the nodes of the network, illuminating the night with moving lights. Beyond inspiring an idea of magic, LIGHT CYCLES is also a means of promoting the use of an eco-transport for citizens

un rambla y una calle ¡y una rotonda! -exclamó asombrada- pero...también es un paseo o quizás, ¿una avenida? la prolongación de una calle, una dehesa,una plaza...un jardín urbano o un parque natural. -y todo lo que seguía imaginándose podía suceder en aquel lugar...(fuente de luz)En realidad, no dejaba de ser una sucesión de cien esbeltos tubos de policarbonato translúcido,de altura e inclinación variable, con dos sistemas de “leds” en el interior. “La parte amarilla de la lámpara siempre está encendida, mientras que la rojiza solo se enciende cuando paso cerca!” (descripción)Se encontraba en Girona, decidida a dejarse embriagar por esta bonita ciudad de la que tanto le habían hablado, cuando se encontró frente a unos escultóricos y esbeltos juncos de luz. Decidió seguirlos sin saber dónde podían llegar. Pasó por una rambla, una calle, una dehesa, un río, un parque, hasta encontrarse en medio de un paisaje al que todos llamaban el límite de la ciudad. Decidió regresar ya de noche, y vió como los juncos habían dejado de reflejar la luz del sol y desprendían una luz amarilla si no había nadie cerca, mientras que se enrojecían tímidamente con la presencia de algún atleta nocturno, de algún perro despistado, la abuela, ese grupo de jóvenes que buscaban un rincón donde tomar sus primeras cervezas, los seguidores del “Akasvayu” corriendo para no llegar tarde al partido y ella, aún soñando con esos paisajes cambiantes constantemente, ¿decia Freud que provocaban transiciones emocionales?
