Coffee ATM Ad agencies run on equal parts talent and caffeine. However, the coffee machines which supply this fuel are poorly designed and offer no variety to the user. To add insult to injury, the coffee usually tastes like “monkey piss� - actual coworker quote.
If coffee machines are to become the new water cooler then why aren't they...cooler? How can the coffee fetching experience be improved and help facilitate co-worker interaction?

The Big Idea Create a coffee machine inspired by the design of an ATM machine. It would be partially touch screen, use an employee card or ID to read your information, and be easy to use, interactive, and fast. A perfect marriage of application design and function, it would also encourage coworker interaction. It does this by allowing the publication of top drink picks, integration with the Office App for live information sharing, and possibly even photo sharing. _________
The Coffee ATM knows who you are by reading your employee card or pin, which assigns you an ID and stores all your preferences. Swiping the card or entering the pin is optional, but if not done, pre-selected picks and saving options are not available.
How It Works The touch looks and functions like a casino style screen with the simplicity of an iphone app. It consists of 3 parts: first is the drink type: latte, espresso, cappuccino... side button =choose size -up all night (20 oz) -3 pm slump (12 oz) -a lil boost (6 oz) second is the milk type: whole, 2%, soy or skim -grayed out if a drink has no milk -is skippable if user wants it black or has a special preference third is the sweet stuff: caramel, vanilla, sugar free -can be skipped -side button = how many shots of syrups Preferences are saved, can be edited and shared with co-workers, as well as tracked using the Office App. A new combination can be turned into a Quick Shot using just one button.
Scenario Molly really needs a 3PM boost. She swipes her employee card and the Coffee ATM which automatically recognizes her. She is pressed for time but would love her favorite drink. She selects the Quick Shot button on the ATM screen and the machine immediately goes to work building her favorite drink.
Edgar just joined the agecy. He can use the Coffee ATM to build the exact same drink as Molly and save it as his Quick Shot, or he can use the agency wide Top Pick which can vary depending on volume of orders. The Coffee ATM allows him to create his own special concoction of expresso shots, milk type, and syrups. Edgar just saved both time and money by not leaving the office and going the coffee shop. On top of that, his new drink combination became a hit. Via the Office App he can see how many times it was ordered. Edgar can get updates when the machine is running low on something, like his favorite flavor and have an awesome collection of mugs to look at via the photo feed while the machine is making his drink.

Mug Shots Show Me Your Mug or Mug Shots is yet another spinoff generated by a main concept.This one from the Coffee ATM project. I thought it would be great to promote green coffee drinking by encouraging co-workers to use their own mugs instead of plastic or paper cups. I started noticing how different and creative everyone's mugs are! Mugs reflect our personalities and are a great way to connect with others by showing off your collection, or just one really unique mug. Coffee ATM can even feature Mug Shot Of the Month since it has a photo display screen. I started my own collection with my and my family's mugs on flickr and posted it on twitter. As this is an ongoing project, I will be adding my friends and coworkers mug shots in the coming months as well as have a creative mug contest. Anyone is welcome to participate!
