Elliptical Shaped UFO - 12 Separate Photographs Analysed Over Italy 1998

Recently I was presented by fellow ufologist Philip Mantle with 12 fascinating separate photographs of what appeared to show an unknown multicoloured ovoid/elliptical shaped object (UFO-UAP) Unidentified Aerial Phenomena), captured on 35mm film in 12 separate aerial positions (clearly over the same location in Italy) which had been photographed by Edy Guadaganini (34 years old at the time of sighting) who was a local mechanic, also witnessed by his daughter who had alerted him saying she had seen the unusual object in the sky in front of their home, she described it as a ‘fireballoon‘ in appearance, the unusual object was seen over the town of Paderno del Grappa near Treviso (Veneto) Italy, during the morning of Sunday 7th June 1998.

Upon hearing of the unusual object outside from his daughter Mr. Guadaganini grabbed him camera (Reflex Cannon EOS-5) plus binoculars and went outside, while viewing the object with his binoculars Mr. Guadaganini soon realized the object was not a ‘fire-balloon ‘but a multicoloured metallic ovoid (being a qualified mechanic, I would believe and respect Mr. Guadaganini opinion and description of the object’s appearance).

The object doesn’t resemble any known aircraft in use during that time period (fixed wing or rotary aircraft) during the sighting Mr. Guadaganini went on to take a sequence of 12 clear photographs of the object plus the surroundings i.e., buildings, trees and other foliage which are great for perspective and he described its movements as erratic, flying in a zig-zag flight pattern which suggests the object is manoeuvring under intelligent control.

The 12 photographs are of a decent colour quality with superficial surface scratches which are characteristic of that type and age of film media (the scratches are more visible after the enhancement process). In the images it is a clear sunny day with a high standard of distance visibility, certain buildings and trees are seen in different photographs thus confirming the objects position movement’s also different altitudes as described by the witness.

Upon analysing the 12 separate images using up-to-date enhancement techniques, in my opinion the object has defined structure and features with no protrusions (tail, fin or wings) or any obvious propulsion system (tailpipes) in any conventional aviation terms.

Verdict: - unidentified.
