What happens to your recycling... In 2011/2012 10,255 tonnes of paper, glass, cardboard, cans, plastic bottles and textiles were recycled and 10,363 tonnes of garden and food waste was composted. The recycling wagon is split into two compartments so the paper and cardboard are always kept separate from the glass, cans and plastic bottles.
Your collected recyclable materials are delivered to Middleton waste transfer station.

■ Buy compostable bags from supermarkets to contain your food waste. ■ Line your caddy with kitchen towel or paper. ■ Regularly rinse your caddy with hot soapy water. ■ Put your green bin or outside caddy out for collection every fortnight.
