Week of June 12-16 Preschool Fun Camp A fun-filled week of games, arts & crafts, and outdoor activities. Children will spend the morning with one of our early elementary education teachers and engage in cooperative and creative learning. Passport to the Arts Come along as we take a week long tour of the world in this full day camp. Immerse yourself in the culture of 5 different countries through dance, music, arts and crafts, language, cooking and more. Can you perform a flamenco dance like they do in Spain? Have you ever stuffed cabbage leaves like they do in Ukraine? Which colors are vert, rouge and noir in French? Pack your bags and get ready for a week full of fun and learning, but without the jet lag. Cool Chemistry and Phun Physics Explore a range of science topics using hands-on activities to solve phun physics problems, experiment with cool chemistry reactions and investigate crime scene puzzles. Week of June 19-23 Lion King Jr. Have you ever wanted to travel to the African savanna? What about meeting Simba and his best friends Nala, Timon, and Pumba? Well you CAN! This summer come and play with all of the characters from The Lion King! During this two week, full day camp, we will be learning and performing all of the famous songs while working on how to develop characters. LEGO速 Technic速 Camp What is LEGO Technic? Technic is the LEGO product line that includes bricks with holes, pegs and axles, wheels, gears, motors and much more. Using LEGO Technic elements we will begin with basic principles for how to build strong yet light frames and chassis, then quickly move on to suspension systems, steering systems, transmissions both simple and highly complex. Using LEGO motors and gears one of the models they build will be a fully functional 5-speed transmission with reverse. This camp will be an excellent opportunity to vastly improve LEGO construction skills helpful for FIRST LEGO League. LEGO速 NXT速 Brick Programming Camp We will build an assortment of LEGO robots and learn how to program them. A main focus will be to use sensors to control how the robot responds to its surroundings: How not to drive off a table with touch and light sensors; How to make precise turns using a gyro sensor. How to follow straight and curved lines on the floor with one or more light sensors; How to follow a line using one sensor while another sensor to reads stripe or color codes it passes. One example will be to build a "CargoBot" that will follow a line with one sensor then read stripes or colors to instruct it where to turn to pickup and deliver its payload then return. This camp will be an excellent opportunity to vastly improve LEGO construction skills helpful for FIRST LEGO League. Animation Art Did you ever want to make your own stop motion animated film? Or be a filmmaker? Well here is your chance. Learn how to draw a storyboard, make sets and characters, use cameras and computer capture software, edit your rough footage, and compose an original soundtrack. All you need is patience. Stopmotion animation is a process where a picture is taken then the object being animated is moved just a little bit. Another picture is taken and another small movement is made. This process is repeated over and over until the scene is completed. The goal is to make inanimate objects appear to move and come to life. Sculpture and Fused Glass Class Here's your chance to make your own unique fused glass objects from jewelry to glass trivets. You will learn how to cut glass and compose with color and shape. LEGOÂŽ Great Ball Contraption Camp What is a LEGO Great Ball Contraption? Imagine the "Mouse Trap" game super-sized in LEGO. Imagine a continuous looping Rube Goldberg machine with LEGO. A quick search on YouTube of "Great Ball Contraption" will yield hours of entertainment and LEGO inspiration. This LEGO GBC camp will focus on the fundamentals of mechanical principles of design and implementation to move LEGO soccer balls and basket balls using methods limited only by the imagination of the builder. LEGO® SumoBot Camp LEGO SumoBot competitions have been around since shortly after LEGO introduced the LEGO Robotics Invention System in 1998. Each LEGO SumoBot round consists of 2 LEGO robots placed in a 4 foot white ring with a black border. Each robot attempts to find the other robot and push it outside the ring. This camp will focus on the fundamentals of mechanical design and programming aimed at detection and traction to implement good defensive strategies and offensive tactics. There will be an in-class tournament during the final period - families are invited to attend and cheer on the competitors. Advanced programming will be explored utilizing multi-threading programming for sophisticated multi-sensor event and coordinated motor controls. Ages: 10 - 14 Dates: June 26 - 30 Time: 1 - 4pm Instructor: Mike Tighe Cost: $180.00

Kitchen Science Cooking is not just an art form, it’s science. Kids will explore real biological and chemical principles and phenomena such as respiration, emulsification, oxidation, and chemical reactions, by making bread with yeast, whipping up a smooth cheese sauce for mac and cheese, and learning the secret to the perfect cookie. They will discover what makes a lemon sour, and how turning the sour down in a sauce can make it salty instead. They’ll even learn the difference between soap and detergent, so that they can do a good job cleaning up too! Kids should bring an apron or wear stainable clothes, and be prepared to tie long hair back. We will taste what we make, and if we can, send leftovers home. This camp is specifically designed to teach and develop the fundamental skills of the game , throwing/catching, cradling, shooting, and ground balls in a fun and educational atmosphere. Campers will need to provide their own equipment; girls lacrosse stick, protective goggles, and a mouthpiece. Shaking Up Shakespeare!!! Come join the fun as we tackle one of Shakespeare's favorite love stories, "The Tempest". Making Magnificent Monsters! Children will unleash their creativity in this hands-on, monster-themed art camp. Make and Create Camp Campers will do a little of this and do a little of that! Part of the morning will be learning and using code to program characters to move, as well as learn the beginning steps to video game design. The second part of the morning will be devoted to using math, science, the outdoors and tinkering to make a boat, to play balloon blow up and to compete in a water drop race!
