Welcome to our exciting Summer 2019 Programs Guide! We are bursting with enthusiasm for all things SUMMER. I love spending time in the summer outside in the sunshine, swimming, and traveling. It’s also a great time to learn something new or focus on a passion! We want LCDS to be your go-to Summer Fun Zone! This summer at LCDS will include more programming than ever before and we have something for everyone, grades Preschool through 12. Have you always wanted to learn tumbling? We have that. How about becoming a better iPhone photographer? You can do it! We are transforming LCDS into Hogwarts! We’ll have wands, potions, and spells for muggles and wizards! US Courses for Credit will give students entering grades 9-12 the opportunity to participate in intensive study during the summer and make room in their schedule for additional opportunities throughout the school year. Our inaugural Global Partners Summer Conference will welcome International students to campus from India, China, Scotland and Spain. Work together on a global topic with peers from around the world! We’re proud to announce the expansion of our PS and JK programs to offer a year-round curriculum. Families can choose to have their child spend the entire year learning and growing with LCDS. LCDS Summer Programs are open to all families – LCDS and the greater community! Please share with your family and friends! I invite all children to join us at LCDS for a summer to remember! For more information about LCDS Summer Programs, please contact Heather Woodbridge woodbridgeh@lancastercountryday.org. Sincerely,

Explore a global topic of interest. …

Explore elements of American culture, geography, history, and contribution to the world. …

Explore and experience life today in the USA.

Provide the setting for meaningful collaboration among partner schools from different countries.

Confronting a global issue will serve as a focus through the two weeks. In small and whole group sessions, students will gain added depth and breadth of the issue. Ultimately, they work together to envision and prepare solutions for the issue.

These will be both informative and varied with travel opportunities to the following locations: Washington, D.C, Philadelphia, Lancaster county “Amish Community”, Gettysburg and experience the beauty of Pennsylvania nature.

… Alongside American students and faculty, trips into the local area will provide first-hand experiences in the life of a small American city and its environs.

Horizons at lcds Horizons at LCDS is an educational summer program for low-income public school students, hosted by LCDS. The goal of the program is to stop summer learning loss and to provide enriching opportunities for children of limited means. This summer, 75 students from the School District of Lancaster will spend six weeks on our campus. In addition, over 50 middle and upper school students will experience a profound service learning opportunity as they volunteer with the program, assisting in the classroom, at meals, and with swimming lessons. LCDS makes Horizons possible by providing a beautiful campus for the students’ learning and play each summer, but the program is 100% independently funded. For more information on Horizons at LCDS, please contact Executive Director Meg Reed at reedm@lancastercountryday.org.
