Introduction Welcome to our price list for 2014/15 With the group’s second 500kw turbine turning, the Lanchester Group is officially Carbon Minus making us probably the only wine company in the world to hold that title. A third 500kw turbine will also be producing electricity this year on a nearby site. The logo will be on the labels of the many new ranges added to this year’s Pricelist.

LANCHESTER WINE CELLARS You will notice some exciting new ranges this year. Including Alta Rita, our new Chilean brand which will be available in 187ml, 750ml, 1000ml Tetra and 2.25 litre Bag in Box all showing the logo. Butterfly Tree, our new South African brand, the wines chosen by us from the famous McGregor vineyards in Robertson, and Orario and Lucello our Australian Pinot Grigio’s which have taken the market by storm over the last nine months with their quality and value. Our Waters Edge brand has had another record year, firmly establishing itself as the top quality ‘New World’ house wine selection. Nika Tiki, our New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is now being sourced from central Marlborough with award-winning wine maker Liam Mcillhinney producing the blend. The 2013 Vintage has been awarded 4 Gold Medals already this year. We have some excellent brand partners in McPherson and Bethany (Barossa) from Australia, Millaman in Chile, Manteca Winery in California and Blin Champagne giving the company some real, top quality brands to sell across the different markets in the UK and with a knowledgeable and professional team we are looking forward to good sustained growth throughout 2014. As ever, our range includes quality and premium wines sourced from all over the world.

GREENCROFT BOTTLING Greencroft is the jewel in the group’s crown, showing huge increases in volume with a projected volume of over 100,000,000 litres in 2014. We continue to invest in state of the art machinery with a brand new Bag in Box line and a bespoke high-speed bottling line being installed in early 2014. This gives us 5 high speed bottling lines, 1 Bag in box line and one Tetra Pak line giving us the capability of producing over 80,000 units per hour. We have the most modern wine bottling facility in Europe and as well as having a BRC Class A Facility, in February 2013 we were awarded blue status by a Spot Audit team from a Major High street retailer, the highest available. The quality of our production is unsurpassed and we are known as the “place to be” within the UK industry. Many more local people have been employed by GBC with even more jobs to come in 2014/15, furthering our commitment to the local area.

LANCHESTER GIFTS Lanchester Gifts has also seen exponential growth in the last few years with 2014 seeing the production of over 500,000 gifts/ hampers for the UK High Street, Retail and e-commerce making us one of the leading Food, wine and gift packing specialists in the UK. The SEDEX approved production facility has doubled in size in the last 12 months with a purpose- built packing area, new offices and all the latest technology to ensure the quality and efficiency of the operation. With its own E-commerce site, first4hampers.com, Lanchester Gifts is constantly expanding and this diversification of Gifting has lead into the Pet market with hampers for dogs and cats, and a new range of chocolate bouquets using the UK’s premier chocolate brands. The business continues to seek out new opportunities within the fast-growing e-commerce sector. The permanent staff numbers have doubled over the last 18 months as well as the department taking on a further 80 local people to pack gifts from July through to December for the busy Festive period.

Bonding & Distribution BONDING AND DISTRIBUTION This is an increasingly important side of the business, dealing with the volume of wine from each company. We operate 24 hours a day, 6 days a week with nearly 50 articulated Lorries leaving our site every day. In order to cope with the huge expansion, in June 2013 we purchased a 135,000 sq foot warehouse nearby, with plans to purchase more space in 2014. We are also building a new 130,000 square feet unit on our adjacent wind turbine site. By the end of the year we will be operating over 600,000 square feet of bonded space. A brand new Euro 6 Mercedes Benz 2646 tractor unit will make its debut in our fleet in April 2014. It is the most carbon efficient truck on the market as we write, which helps our commitment to sustainability across the whole group. Our ever-expanding fleet has 10 distribution vehicles ranging from 4 artics to 3 small vans for local deliveries and 26 cars, three of which are fully electric and the majority of the others are 99g CO2 low- emission.

Greencroft Bottling Co. Ltd GREENCROFT BOTTLING Greencroft is now in its 11th year and we are aiming to fill in excess of 100,000,000 litres of wine in 2014. The quality of finished product is second to none in the UK and with our modern lines, passionate workforce and professional attitude we are looking forward to another record year. Two new lines will be installed this year; a high speed glass line and a state of the art bag in box line, both with the latest technology giving us much greater capacity- Now up to 80,000 bottles per hour.

Tetra Pak Wine TETRA PAK WINE In mid 2013 we installed a Tetra Pak filling line. This is the only strictly wine dedicated Tetra Pak line in the UK. This recyclable Tetra Pak carton uses less energy to produce, transport and recycle than a glass bottle. The wine is packed using renewable wind and solar energy generated on our site. The whole operation is better than carbon neutral – it’s CARBON MINUS. Our Tetrapaks are 1 litre in size. Ideal for wine by the glass, outside functions and retail.

CABERNET ROSE 2013/14 12.5% 6x75cl £37.95 A fresh and lively wine, the McPherson Cabernet Rose is vibrant fuchsia in colour with a lovely perfumed nose of raspberries and strawberries. The fruit intensity on the palate is evident, with underlying hints of musk and mint completing the wine.

WINE MAKERS NOTES The juice was run off the skins early, in order to extract only the perfect amount of colour and then inoculated and fermented cool. This allowed the retention of the summer berry characters as well as retaining colour and intensity. Post fermentation the wine was fined, cold stabilised and filtered ready for bottling. The entire process from juice to bottle was less than 6 weeks, thus keeping the wine fresh and vivacious. FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS With excellent length of flavour, not only is the Rose fun and easy to drink, it also compliments a vast array of foods. WINE MAKERS NOTES The grapes for this Cabernet Sauvignon were picked and crushed during the cool of night, thus ensuring the retention of varietal character, while modern winemaking techniques were employed throughout. Cold maceration of the fruit prior to fermentation helped to bring out colour and the wine’s primary varietal characters – such as blackcurrant and herbal fruit flavours. While still fermenting, the wine was transferred onto medium toast, French oak where it then spent several months, giving the wine a subtle enhancing structure and giving the wine a subtle spice character adding further dimension to the overall style. The inclusion of some high quality Central Victorian fruit in the blend has improved both the colour and flavour profiles of the wine. Johann Gottlob Schrapel and his family arrived in South Australia from Silesia on the ship ‘George Washington’ in 1844, just eight years after the colony was settled. Like many of their fellow Germanic migrants they made their way by ox cart to Bethany, the Barossa Valley’s first settlement, where they established a home and cleared the land to grow crops and graze animals. The Schrapels planted their first vineyard in 1852 from cuttings carefully nursed from Europe. A wine cellar was also built, but despite Johann’s reputation as an early colonial winemaker, the family concentrated on grape growing rather than winemaking for the next four generations.
