Red-necked Phalarope

Phalaropus lobatus Óðinshani

The first Red-necked Phalarope record was on 24th May, and they were recorded in most weeks during June and July. The last record was on 6th August. A peak count of seven birds was recorded on 21st June. While the general timing of their arrival and departure was captured here, their habitat preference means the survey methodology employed here is not the optimal way to record Rednecked Phalaropes. Tierney & Tierney (2020) provide a better assessment of their abundance and distribution within the Andakíll Ramsar site.
