Chobe Game Lodge, established in 1972 was the first lodge of its kind in Botswana and is still the only permanent lodge inside Chobe National Park. With its fabulous setting on the Chobe River, the lodge famously played host to celebrity couple Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton who held their second wedding here in 1975. From these historic beginnings to being the first lodge in Africa to operate an electric safari fleet, Chobe Game Lodge has many special stories to tell.
The experience The Lodge is the ultimate place to see the best of Chobe, from both land and water. Our guests have access to boat safaris as well as 4x4 game drives from our exclusive location in the Chobe National Park. There’s nothing better than the experience of viewing hundreds of elephants from a river boat during one of our game watching
cruises. In addition to elephant, you can expect to see predators such as lion and leopard as well as buffalo, sable, roan and the rare puku antelope.
The setting Chobe Game Lodge has a beautiful Moorish-styled décor combined with touches of Zanzibar. We have 43 river view rooms and four luxury suites with private infinity pools. Our redecorated rooms and newly refurbished bathrooms all come with spacious terraces, air conditioning and complimentary mini-bars.
The Chobe boardwalk The 250 metres of elevated boardwalk along the river is one of the lodge’s most unique features. With fabulous views across the flood plains, private dining areas, luxurious couches and full bar service, guests can enjoy a whole new game viewing experience right at the lodge.

A new era in ecotourism Following the introduction of the first silent electric game drive vehicle in Botswana, Chobe Game Lodge was voted the best property in Africa for resource management 2015. We have set about testing solar panels
on our safari boats and are currently converting the entire game-viewing fleet to electric power. Furthermore, safaris are led by the only all-female guiding team in Africa, affectionately known as the ‘Chobe Angels’. As part of our commitment to responsible tourism we also offer our guests ‘Ecotours’, hosted by the staff who work behind the scenes as they share their knowledge and stories of the history of Botswana, its communities and its culture.
