Celebrating a year of achievement Welcome aboard Precision Air and thank you for choosing to fly with us. On behalf of Precision Air management, shareholders and myself, I would like to wish you a happy and prosperous new year in 2018. We also wish to extend our appreciation for your continued support throughout 2017. This past year has been great for us as we saw our operations stabilise and grow. We have achieved an On Time Performance (OTP) of 85 to 90 per cent at zero minutes with our fleet of seven aircraft; and this has enabled us to offer a reliable service and to expand our operations. We have successfully launched three new destinations: Entebbe, Kahama and Seronera in the Serengeti National Park. Again, this would not have been possible without your continued support and the commitment from our team. With the largest scheduled network in Tanzania, we now offer the best connectivity network, enabling passengers to connect with ease both domestically and regionally and beyond.
We have successfully launched three new destinations: Entebbe, Kahama and Seronera in the Serengeti
Going forward, Precision Air will concentrate on strengthening our current network by adding frequency on some of our routes such as Entebbe and Kahama. Further rational scanning of new destinations will also continue and we will expand when appropriate. Despite the growing competition in Tanzania’s market, we remain optimistic about our performance in 2018. Our commitment to connecting communities by offering safe, reliable and quality services remains high at all times. We appeal for your continued support as we fly you through 2018. Don’t forget to visit our website at www.precisionairtz.com for more updates and best offers and connect with Precision Air through our social media pages: Facebook – Precision Air Tanzania, Twitter – PrecisionAirTz and Instagram – precisionairtz.

News from Tanzania’s leading airline Precision Air signs seven-year contract with Vector Aerospace Precision Air Services has demonstrated its confidence in the global support it has received from Vector Aerospace France by signing a new engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) seven-year exclusive agreement for its entire fleet of ATR turboprop aircraft. Vector Aerospace Sauda Rajab, chief executive of Precision Air, said that over the past three years Vector Aerospace France had done “a remarkable job in overhauling our engines” and had been “a true partner working with us tirelessly to ensure we put back the bulk of our aircraft into operation”. Precision Air is the second-largest operator of ATR aircraft in Africa, Christian Venzal, CEO of Vector Aerospace France and Sauda Rajab, CEO of Precision with a fleet of nine ATRs flying Air Services. to Nairobi, Entebbe, Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Zanzibar, Seronera in the Serengeti and other Tanzanian cities. Christian Venzal, chief executive of Vector Aerospace France, said: “This seven-year exclusive agreement will further reinforce our commitment to Precision Air to increase its operational efficiency.” As per the terms of the multi-year exclusive agreement, Vector Aerospace will provide comprehensive fixed-wing aircraft engine MRO services from its facility in France as well as engineering, ECTM (engine condition trend monitoring) and training services. Precision Air’s new routes in 2017 The past year has been good for Precision Air’s operations and for its customers as the company stretched its wings to new domestic and regional destinations and enabled more people to connect. At the start of a new year, the company offers a summary of its new routes launched in 2017.
Entebbe In July Precision Air relaunched its Entebbe route, which had been suspended in 2013-2014. It launched Entebbe flights with a frequency of three per week, on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Its flights now connect Uganda and Tanzania directly, thus providing a vital boost to diplomatic and trade relations. With the success of its Entebbe operation, the company has plans to increase the frequency soon.
Kahama In September Precision Air became the first scheduled airline in Tanzania to start commercial operations to the gold town of Kahama. The route was launched with a frequency of three flights per week, on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The company appreciates the opportunity to play a part in the development of Kahama district by connecting it by air with the rest of the world.
Seronera Precision Air is proud to play its part in transforming the safari experience in Serengeti National Park. In October it became the first scheduled airline in Tanzania to operate into the national park via Seronera Airstrip, thus providing a hassle-free option for visitors to the Serengeti. There are flights every Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from Dar es Salaam and Arusha.

t o n k e th g Tyin Three destinations for an unforgettable day
So much goes into the planning of a wedding, from drawing up the invitation list to choosing table decorations to deciding on a cake. One of the most important decisions is the venue where you and your significant other will exchange vows in front of your loved ones. Thankfully, Tanzania has a host of very different but equally romantic places to say ‘I do’. Paa magazine has done the research for you, so here’s our top three locations for a wedding to remember.

Visitors to Gombe Stream have an opportunity to walk in Dr Goodall’s footsteps and go ‘chimp trekking’ in the park
About Dr Jane Goodall Born in London in 1934, Dr Jane Goodall dedicated much of her adult life to studying chimpanzees in Gombe Stream and is regarded as the world’s leading chimpanzee expert. After visiting Kenya in 1957, she began working with renowned archaeologist Louis Leakey, who sent her to Gombe Stream to research chimpanzees. With no scientific training, Dr Goodall began what was to become 50 and more years of research by observing the Kasakela chimpanzee community in the park. Her studies on the social interaction of wild chimpanzees have offered crucial insights into the behaviour of these animals and their similarities to humans, while helping to disprove two beliefs: that chimps were herbivores and that only humans could make and use tools. In addition to her work in Gombe Stream, Dr Goodall is an activist, conservationist, author, UN Messenger of Peace and more. Today, she dedicates much of her time to the Jane Goodall Institute which she founded in 1977 as well as raising awareness of the threats facing chimpanzees and environmental crises.

Lees Headwraps
Flying high Sky’s the limit for fashion-loving Lidey
A love of fashion led Precision Air employee Lidey Mkisi to start her own business, Lees Headwraps, which she manages alongside her role as an air hostess. Lidey tells Paa how she balances these two very different roles and talks of her passion for African attire and her hopes for the future. Q: Tell us a little about yourself A: I was born on 4 May 1992 to a middle-class family. My parents always groomed my siblings and I with entrepreneurship skills, so I knew I would have my own business one day – I just didn’t know what kind of business it would be. My resilient love for fashion, as well as African ethos, inspired me to enter the head wraps business as a way of being both fashionable and embracing African attire. Q: When did you start your head wraps business? A: I had the idea for it for quite a while, but I officially launched Lees Headwraps in 2015. Prior to this, I had already started to showcase my interest in head wraps to my close friends and family. Their responses gave me enormous audacity to start my business.

- Guests must be a member of Dîner en Blanc or be sponsored by a member from the previous year’s event or must sign up to the waiting list in order to participate - Once your participation is confirmed, attendance is mandatory, regardless of weather conditions - Guests congregate at a designated meeting place before departing in unison to the secret location - All guests must take their belongings with them at the end of the event, leaving the site is as clean as when they arrived. Guests must bring a table and two white chairs, a picnic basket with a white tablecloth, napkins, their own choice of gourmet food, cutlery, dishware and glassware and wine or champagne. What to pack Hiking in the Usambara Mountains is relatively easy compared with taking on Kilimanjaro or Mount Meru, but it’s always a good idea to be prepared before you set off so that you don’t encounter any unwelcome surprises: Hiking
- Cotton shirts and shorts, or lightweight trousers, will make hiking more comfortable than heavy materials such as denim - Waterproof hiking boots are recommended, ideally with ankle support - A weatherproof jacket to protect you from any rain and keep you warm in the cool climate - To keep up your hydration and nutrition levels, be sure to take bottled water and healthy, protein-rich snacks.

If you want a thrill without taking to the water, you can enjoy a spectacular bungee jump above the river with Nile High Bungee. This 44-metre jump is one of the best and most scenic bungee jumps in the world, so if you’re in the area and want to experience a thrill like no other, be sure to add this to your list. The area around the Nile is great for birdwatching, too, with giant kingfishers, greenbacked herons and many other species to be found. The F-Pace and now the E-Pace are better suited to local road conditions than Jaguar’s mainstream XF and XE models, so expect to see an increase in sales in the coming years. As it is, Jaguar’s East African dealerships report attention from buyers who previously bought, say, the VW Touareg or an AWD Mercedes. And now the E-Pace is expected to bring further interest from those who might otherwise opt for a more established German off-roader.

Disruptive behaviour
Offensive and disruptive behaviour onboard By Anna Moshy Cabin Safety Officer
This article intends to create awareness of acts that are considered offensive on board an aircraft and are punishable by law. This applies to all Precision Air flights. Unacceptable conduct by a passenger on board one of our aircraft will be considered an offence and will be punishable by law. Such passengers are called unruly or disruptive passengers. Under the Tokyo Convention 1963 it is unlawful to commit “acts which, whether or not they are offences [against the penal law of the state], may or do jeopardise the safety of the aircraft or of persons or property therein or which jeopardise good order and discipline on board.” An unruly or disruptive passenger refers to a passenger who fails to respect the rules of conduct on board the aircraft, thus disturbing good order and discipline on board and compromising safety.
The following acts shall be considered an offence: • Interfering with crew members in the performance of their duties. This includes assault, intimidation or threats, whether physical or verbal, against a crew member if this interferes with or lessens the ability of the crew member to perform his or her duties. • Refusing to follow a lawful instruction given by the captain, or on behalf of the captain by a crew member, for the purpose of ensuring the safety of the aircraft or passengers or property on board. Such acts include, but are not restricted to, refusing to fasten one’s seatbelt and to keep it fastened when signs are switched on; and operating a portable electronic device when such act is prohibited. • Acting wilfully or recklessly or negligently so as to endanger the aircraft, people or equipment onboard. • Smoking in the lavatory and in any part of the aircraft. Use of electronic cigarettes is also prohibited. • Being intoxicated and acting in an unruly or violent manner. Such passengers are a danger to themselves and others onboard the aircraft, especially in an emergency.
Types of bad behaviour The International Air Transport Association (IATA), of which Precision Air is a member, has listed the following types of disruptive behaviour by passengers: • Verbal confrontation. • Refusing to comply with safety information (for example, ignoring a request by the cabin crew to fasten seatbelts, not to smoke or to switch off electronic devices; or by disrupting the safety announcements). • Making threats. This includes all kinds of threats, whether directed at a person – for example, threatening to injure someone – or statements intended to cause chaos, such as referring to a bomb threat, or simply any threatening behaviour that could affect the safety of the crew, passengers and aircraft. • Physical confrontation with crew members or other passengers. • Sexual abuse or harassment. This includes inappropriately touching a member of the cabin crew or another passenger. • Passengers must leave the aircraft if directed to do so by the pilot in command on any occasion – for example, when a significant delay is announced. Failure to obey such a directive is an offence.

Welcome Aboard
Safety and well-being onboard PASSENGER SAFETY Precision Air takes passenger safety very seriously. Aviation safety isn’t just the pilot’s or the cabin crew’s job – it takes all of us. It is easy for our natural sense of caution to be dulled in our modern environment, where things don't go wrong very often. Whether in the air or on the ground, your life, and the lives of your family members could someday be saved if you make it a point, in every situation, to create a mental plan of action in case of emergency. Here are some important tips to help you enjoy your travel experience with Precision Air – in flight and around the airport.
EXIT ROW SEAT A passenger allocated emergency exit seat; A. Must be both willing and physically able to open the exit doors in an emergency. B. Must completely understand the printed emergency evacuation techniques. C. Must be 16 years old and above.
PAY ATTENTION TO PREFLIGHT BRIEFING Although the information seems repetitious, the locations of the closest emergency exits may be different depending on the aircraft that you fly on and the seat you are in.
CARRY ON BAGGAGE There are strict rules about what you can bring on board an aircraft. Because:
Carry-on bags must be small enough to fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bins. Please confirm with Precision Air rules before your travel, to avoid delays. *Remember: All carry-on baggage must be left behind in an evacuation.
SAFETY ONBOARD Boarding and leaving an aircraft requires your full attention. As you move to and from the aircraft, you may be in a busy area with many other passengers and cargo, moving vehicles, other aircraft, slippery walkways and/or stairs.
RESPECT YOUR CREW AND FELLOW PASSENGERS Everyone has the right to safe and secure travel. That is why Precision Air employees and aviation authority will not tolerate any behaviour that interferes with the flight or puts the safety of passengers and crew at risk.
SEATBELTS Seatbelts must be fastened during take off, landing, during turbulence, and anytime the crew deem it necessary. Keeping the belt on when you are seated provides that extra protection you might need in case of emergency. If you are responsible for an infant or a child, you must first ensure that your own seatbelt is properly fastened, then secure the child and if its an infant secure the child’s or the infant’s restraints.
A. Not all aircraft have space to store your carry-on baggage.
Important note: There are a number of events involving air turbulence that highlight the importance of keeping seatbelts fastened throughout the flight.
B. In an accident, baggage in the aisles makes it harder to get out of the aircraft quickly.
Though rare, in-flight turbulence is the leading cause of injuries to both passengers and the crew.
48
Paa Tanzania
It’s good practice to keep your seatbelts fastened even when the seatbelt signs are not on.
MEDICAL CASES AND PREGNANCIES If you have a medical case and may need assistance during your travel, kindly enquire from Precision Air offices or agents for procedures before your flight. If you are pregnant, you will need to fill a Precision Air medical form, to be signed by your doctor to confirm that you are OK for travel. For further details kindly ask while booking your ticket from our sales offices and/or customer services.
PORTABLE ELECTRONIC DEVICES Use of portable electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets, mp4 players, iPads, etc are not allowed during take off, landing, taxiing, descent and climb. Precision Air prohibits the use of some electronic devices during flight, because they emit signals that can interfere with the aircraft's instrumentation. Some of the items prohibited include cell phones, radios,remote-controlled games/toys, laser pointers, iPads or tablets that transmits frequencies, portable printers, walkie talkies, scanners, laptops and other items need to be stowed away for these phases of the flight to avoid injuries in case of an emergency.
