Many factors influence what people define as attractive. The concept of physical attraction can be attributed to subjective preferences—height, eyes, facial features. Hair colour is one. There is a shared belief that hair colour is about personal inclination. Recent research reveals, though, that there is a consensus among people on which hair colour is preferred and which is the most attractive. The Experiment The study observed female participants who were asked to sit in a nightclub for about an hour, on 16 different nights for four weeks.

They evaluated the number of men who asked the participant for a dance. To ensure that the men were not approaching the women for other attractive characteristics, every participant tried on four different wigs four times.

The researchers observed that more men approached women who had blond wigs, a total of 137 men.84 males spoke with women wearing brown wigs, while 82 approached the women who had black hair. Only 29 men talked to ladies who had red hair.

Although the researchers explained that a man’s physical features do not significantly affect attraction, the experts still studied how hair colour appeals to women. They advised four 20-year old male participants to ask a woman for a dance. Most of the women said yes to the men who had black wigs, a total of 35%. Thirty percent agreed to dance with men who were sporting a brown wig, while 27.5% for those with blond hair. For participants who wore red wigs, only 13.8% of the women said yes. Further studies also support the claim. Some researchers suppose that men are more attracted to blonde women because they are perceived as needier. This gave the men more confidence, which compelled them to approach the women. Studies also explain why red heads are labelled as the least attractive. Men perceive red-haired women as the least shy and irritable. Hair colour is a key factor when it comes to physical attraction. Contrary to popular belief, there is consensus on which hair colour is the most attractive.
