LPL) --- Duvan Tomás Pérez, un joven de 16 años de edad y oriundo de Guatemala, murió a causa de un accidente en una planta procesadora de carne.
El accidente ocurrió el 14 de julio en la planta avícola Mar-Jac, localizada en la población de Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Según un trabajador que estaba de servicio en el momento del incidente, se escuchó al niño gritar pidiendo ayuda dos veces antes de morir.
Los trabajadores menores de 18 años no pueden trabajar en plantas avícolas, y la Administración de Salud y Seguridad Ocupacional y la División de Horas y Salarios del Departamento de Trabajo han iniciado investigaciones sobre el incidente. Esta es la segunda muerte en esta instalación, la otra fue en mayo del 2021.
La víctima, Duvan Tomás Pérez, era un estudiante de secundaria que llegó a Estados Unidos hace unos seis años.

HATTIESBURG, MS (Mississippi News) --- Duvan Tomás Pérez, a 16-year-old boy from Guatemala, died in an accident while working at a poultry plant in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
The accident happened on July 14 at the Mar-Jac Poultry plant.
According to a worker who was on duty at the time of the incident, the boy was heard screaming for help twice before he died.
Workers under the age of 18 are not allowed to work in poultry plants, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division have launched investigations into the incident. This is the second death at this facility the other was in May 2021.
The victim, Duvan Tomás Pérez, was a middle school student who arrived in the United States about six years ago.
