What Is LGL Comprehension Edge?
What Makes It Unique:
LGL Comprehension Edge is one online differentiated instructional product within the LGL Edge Series which teaches advanced understanding of textbooks and literature at the 5th to 9th grade reading levels. Depending on the level of comprehension of the secondary or adult student as determined by DORA, he or she may be placed into different levels of LGL Comprehension Edge. This differentiation allows students to skip material they have already mastered while still targeting the two crucial areas of reading comprehension for this level: vocabulary and comprehension strategies.

LGL Comprehension Edge does just that through high-interest materials, songs, video, and games, with an emphasis on young adult/teenage culture to engage secondary and adult students and encourage them in the classroom. LGL Comprehension Edge doesn’t offer bland instruction and drill-and-kill practice but instead provides exciting, interactive lessons, detailed stepby-step feedback on student practice, and a motivation system that encourages students to turn failure into success!
How It Works Let’s Go Learn’s Diagnostic Online Reading Assessment (DORA) serves as the foundation for LGL Comprehension Edge. DORA diagnostically assesses students in seven subskills of reading, adapting to students as they respond to each question in the online program. Immediately after the assessment, students who qualify for instruction are automatically transitioned into powerful online reading lessons addressing only the skills that each student requires. With the LGL Edge Series, students complete only the lessons they need without wasting time on materials they have already mastered. Cutting-edge design with a Hollywood persona keeps students engaged, especially at-risk students whose motivation is often in need of bolstering. Custom tunes and music are interwoven into lessons making the lessons, seem more like entertainment for students.
Real-time scoring allows students to get immediate feedback and encouragement. Students are motivated to reach “silver” and “gold” levels across 50 lessons. Sections can be reviewed in order to focus on areas of difficulty.

Who Is It Useful For? LGL Comprehension Edge helps students who can decode proficiently but struggle to understand what they read, both in textbooks and in literature. LGL Comprehension Edge is ideal for students with or without special needs, including students with learning disabilities, dyslexia, auditory processing difficulties, attention deficits, and behavioral problems. LGL Comprehension Edge is also a great tool for students with limited English proficiency who have intermediate English speaking skills and are proficient English readers but need to understand English at a higher level. LGL Comprehension Edge is also very appropriate for adult learners because of the more sophisticated graphics and high-interest materials.

Choosing the Right Edge? LGL Reading Edge and LGL Comprehension Edge work together to target the two most common reading profiles of secondary to adult remedial readers. After students complete a DORA assessment, teachers or parents place students into either LGL Reading Edge or LGL Comprehension Edge. DORA data will automatically be pulled at the commencement of the selected instruction to ensure that students are only given the lessons needed within either of the LGL Edge products.
