Objective
Recent researches in social anthropology propose to improve the quality of life of individuals regardless of cultural and economic levels. Everyone has the right to improve their mind and body. The World Health Organization states that health is a balance between the Biopsychosocial and Spiritual levels. The Sport promotes health, discipline, perseverance and integrity and the result is a healthy person respectful of nature society and family. This project is conceived based on its meaning (health, dynamism, sports and coexistence). It represents a set of sporting activities, lodgings as well as promotions so that expert users and amateurs practice several varieties of cycling in a safe and innovative way, which will be the HEADQUARTERS of these sports. Besides making a sculpturally allusion to itself. It is proposed as a recreational sports and holistic health center. Where people practicing cycling will feel identified in a space designed especially for them. How the project came about.
All my projects start with a dream, decision and action. Being close to athletes and by practicing sports such as swimming, gymnastics, boxing, even cycling, let me express, listen and identify needs. In Mexico DF all sectors (government, industry, medicine, education, including citizens) regularly are in conflicts of interest because of a war and territory domination. The construction of cycle paths on avenues are permanently boycotted by protests of "neighbors" who impose their whimsical criteria thereby limiting the evolutionary systematization of the country because the politicians are subjected to win votes for their political career. Pollution is another major factor that seriously makes participants ill. Mountain bikers are threatened by animals, insecurity, crime and are subject to robbery, kidnapping and even disappearance. Architects should not design and build only by observation and personal taste. We are morally and ethically obliged to analyze, identify needs and from this study provide a sound solution. Current sports projects show solutions with formulas that have already been established by previous generations. They focus on technical aspects segregating user perception considering it as a generic one. It's time to break said paradigms and not only focus on trends such as form or function. This project was conceived from the particular needs of the user. The project was designed with the idea of combining various styles of cycling. Comfort and architectural innovation integrating them to the ideal environment to practice several sports.
The circles represent integrity, infinite and permanence. Respecting the need for plastic hierarchy in a dynamic project directly related to the user. It has no limits since its flow causes all users to feel integrated into a common space. The design, shapes, backgrounds and colors do not alter the heart rate, blood pressure, nor cause confusion; we chose gray cement thereby highlighting nature. From simple shapes we seek to provide an iconic representation of dynamism since characteristics of a Cyclist's is not to have borders or boundaries unlike other sports. The circles represent wholeness, infinity and permanence.
Choice of site
The architectural proposal is viable for any location and land. There will be adjustments made regarding topography and environmental characteristics. Tequesquitengo is being proposed because of the sports culture which brings diverse practices of other sports together. Adventurers do have to take unnecessary risks. Tequesquitengo is a place that offers sports variety. It is very close to the capital, Mexico City and the prices are affordable. Integration into the urban environment
The space is in the open air and its composition is harmoniously integrated with nature. None of the elements compete with each other, on the contrary senses such as perception, balance and freedom arise. Design concept, functional and structural characteristics, and building services.
The greatest impact with the least cost and complexity was sought. Based on simple forms linked diagonally two shaped radial shape towers were formed with radial spatial and functional organization integrated by steel columns, floors are steel slab structure, main, and secondary beams. The arrangement of the axes of the project is in a 3-way sequential rings which are divided by segments each 18ยบ providing 11 continuous axis or 22 single-axis, maximum distance 8.5 and an overhand of 1.8 m. A similar structure of 10 columns supported on isolated footings was used to hold the dome and the inner ramp by using brackets. Tower one has two double first levels for recreational activities and 5 upper levels, in the center there is an atrium with an interior garden. While tower two accounts has three double levels consisting of a museum, guard area and bicycle shop besides an internal dock for water bicycles. The sleeve of both towers white architectural concrete looking for a sculptural and at the same time subtle architecture.
Legacy design and use
The History of the Human Being has been an ongoing evolutionary process. The Project considers current needs and a future outlook. The culture of practicing sport is supported by the following sectors: Health, Education, Ecology and Social Anthropology, we also find doctors who also practice cycling. The project is cutting edge and stable at the same time it provides validity and permanence. History records that the first velocipede bicycle was manufactured in 1818 and we are in 2015 and we continue to innovate with examples such as: electric bikes and bike capable of recycling the air the cyclist breathes. Ecological and economical sustainability.
Currently there is the idea that there is no sustainable architecture and non-sustainable architecture, which is wrong, because in any project however limited it may be the result of implementing actions should be in order to reduce the ecological and economic impact. The location provides us with positive weather conditions for practicing sport such as: the type of weather and the moisture of the environment. Integration of nature in all spaces as gardens which are generators of microclimates. The architectural spaces were integrated to nature by generating a minimal impact through its vertical distribution which is predominantly recreational and in the surface there are sports facilities. Structural implements.
A Wet Dock from the lake which provides humid air, which is directed to a central interior garden Smart Mezzanines (similar to the spiral structure of the ear) which increases the intake and speed of fresh air. Dual slab system decreases internal temperature. Lighting devices and night lighting by LEED. Natural Maxi domes in both buildings for natural light with Venturi outlets to stabilize internal temperature. Inside Dock passive system by means of solar ducts.
Social sustainability (functionality, usability)
The practice of sport is promoted to all people without distinction. As a sports practicing center the Society benefits directly because it need spaces that integrate family, improve social environment, provides a sports culture creating a safe place to practice the sport. The economic investment is profitable. The participation of the people will be well accepted because it covers urgent needs like rescuing kids from vices and criminal behavior. Barrier-free accessibility and universal design features
The culture of respect and human rights makes me consider inclusive spaces never discriminatory. Because of this there are handicapped facilities such as ramps or bicycle paths providing free access to all areas of the project. Since cycling is a sport which all kinds of people regardless of age, knowledge, culture and economic capacity practice. The project goes beyond a simple access it also offers biking for handicapped visitors. The design is attractive to all, it is flexible and capable of handling professionals, elderly, handicapped or children. The accessibility is provided by elevators, switches, plumbing, leisure facilities, facilities for sports and recreation, allowing an easy access to all components for any user sitting or standing, as well as visually and auditory indicators. Due to the different ages of users there were separate sections for adults and children. In addition to variations in the grips and utensils for different hand sizes. We chose graphic systems for circuits and facilities indicators because of the understanding, language skills and comprehension that each particular user may have. 1. ATRIUM CONNECTING RAMP, FIRST LEVEL TO CYCLING AREA / VELODROME. 2. FOUR CROSS TRACK (4x) NEXT TO THE SPONSORS AREA whit CAPACITY FOR 6 PARTICIPANTS. 3. SUSPENDED CYCLE ROUTE. TOWER CONNECTOR with CAPACITY 4 PANORAMIC LANES. 4. UNDERWATER TOUR, UNDERWATER MAGIC TOWN, TEQUESQUITENGO.
