HISTORY

ZALUX was founded in 1980, with a clear orientation to customer service. This strategy, together with a good quality product range and adequate logistic procedure, have placed the company as leader in the lighting market, particularly in the weatherproof luminaires and industrial batten segments. In 2000, TRILUX puts all its confidence in ZALUX, incorporating it to its group. Thus, the Spanish company has a support in improvement, research and development of the luminaires.

ZALUX EVOLVES

The increasing concern for sustainability and the environment have generated new technology development focused on energy saving and reduction of CO2 emissions. The lighting sector has found in LED technology a way to follow this movement. Zalux is committed with this trend and incorporates this new technology in its new purpose built luminaires.

ZALUX products are manufactured in Spain, in our two plants of over 42.000 m2 in Alhama de Aragón. All materials and components used in our luminaires, come from reputable manufacturers, who sustain the good quality by means of the relevant mechanical, electrical and environmental certificates, among which, we can find the latest requests included in the RoHS directive. Automatisation and continuous improvement are the pillars of our efficiency in the productive process.

Our warehouse is located in over 10.000 m2 in Alhama de AragĂłn and managed by the most advanced software management systems to guarantee the correct distribution.

QUALITY AND ENVIRONMENT

Since 1997 ZALUX works under an UNE-EN ISO 9001 certified Quality System. The implementation of an Integrated System for Quality and Environment Management, has been ZALUX’s latest step for the protection of the environment, furthermore achieving the certification UNE-EN ISO 14001 in 2007. ZALUX monitors the quality of the products through the laboratories and the production lines according to the electric safety standard and tests.

All the luminaires included in this catalogue are intended for indoor use or under shelter for outdoor use.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE CORRECT USE OF THE LUMINAIRES ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS The recommended temperature under which the luminaires should be installed, range from -5ยบ to 40ยบC; out of this interval, lifetime of the luminaire will be reduced. Chemical factors are to be taken into consideration as they could affect the lifetime of the luminaires. Avoid direct sun.

EMERGENCY LIGHTING The luminaires of this section provide light in the event of a failure in the main lighting and comply with the European Regulation EN60598-2-22 and EN-60598-1.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE USE All emergency lighting systems are required to be subjected to periodic testing to guarantee correct operation when required to operate in an emergency. SELFTEST

Our emergency luminaires are equipped as standard with SELFTEST function, who runs the specified system tests and function tests automatically. Every week, the luminaire performs a check to verify whether the luminous flux of the LED is appropriate and every 10 weeks an autonomy test of the battery. The luminaire‘s status is indicated by two colour LEDs on the luminaire, checking the fittings therefore simply involves noting the LED status indicator.

REMOTE CONTROL

Using a remote control you can program the start of tests of the lamps and battery autonomy manually as needed. It also allows to put your emergency lighting system in “Rest mode”. It also allows you switching off the lighting at weekends or on public holidays without simultaneously activate the emergency lighting. This prevents the batteries from being fully discharged, which would compromise safety.

ATEX: HAZARDOUS ATMOSPHERES An ATEX atmosphere relates to a mix of air with inflammable substances (gas, vapours, fog or dust) where after the ignition, combustion spreads towards the non-burnt mix. The following substances have to be present in order for the explosion to occur: - Combustible substance (gas, vapour, fog or dust) - Ignition source - Oxidant (air) In a place where there is an hazardous atmosphere, we need to bear in mind two different aspects: - The equipment to be installed in such area needs to be safe and not susceptible to initiate the explosion. - The way in which work is carried out in such a hazardous area. ICON & ABBREVIATONS INTERPRETATION Is a conformity brand common to luminaires, associated equipments and information technology equipments, that indicates the conformity with European standards. The complying of the norms by the manufacturers is tested by external official bodies (AENOR, VDE…). A product that is marked with this icon complies with the dispositions of the European Community. Luminaires must comply with 2004/108/EC for Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2006/95/EC for the production of the luminaires and 2009/125/EC for ecodesign.

RoHS The RoHS Directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).

of emitting light when a low voltage direct current (DC) passes through them and are forward biased, that is, the positive pole of the power supply is connected to the anode and the negative pole to the cathode.

The correct operation of a LED luminaire is determined by the quality of the LEDs, drivers and suitable dissipation systems. ZALUX considers all these aspects at the beginning of every new design: • Using LEDs from market leaders, • controlling the match of the LED to the selected bin, • testing the perfect operation of the driver and dissipation system in order to maintain the junction temperature of the LEDs (Tj) within the limits set by the manufacturer. Only this can ensure the good appearance, high efficiency and durability of the luminaires. The use of LEDs as light sources in lighting has several advantages, among which the following are included: • Robustness and security in applications with vibrations and shocks. • Easy regulation, safety and reliability to operate with low voltage DC. • Almost instantaneous response, with independence of regulation. • Long service life, reducing maintenance costs. • Lack of IR and UV; therefore the illuminated objects are barely degraded. • Extremely sustainable, due to high efficiency and absence of mercury. • Excellent optical control for more compact, ergonomic and high performanced luminaire design. • Easiness to produce dynamic light; it allows you to adjust the intensity and tone of light at any time.

The dimensions in which the MacAdam ellipses are specified are SDCM (Standard Deviation of Color Matching). The smaller the ellipse, less color deviation is obtained. Generally speaking, it is said that the human eye responds as follow: If 1 SDCM: There are no color differences. If 2 or 3 SDCM: There is hardly any visible difference. ELECTRONIC BALLASTS The ignition and the current limitation of the gas discharge in a fluorescent lamp require a control unit connected in series. Conventional technique uses an iron core wound with copper wire in combination with a separate starter. Essential advantages are offered when using high quality electronic control gears: • Cost and energy savings. • Increased lighting comfort thanks to flicker-free lamp start and calm light; no 100 Hz stroboscopic effect. • Increased lamp service life and extended maintenance intervals due to lamp preserving warm start. • Safety switch-off in case of critical operating conditions, e.g. defective or missing lamps, End-of-Life rectifier effect. A basic distinctive feature between inductive ballasts and electronic control gears is given by the mode of lamp operation. Electronic control gears typically generate high-frequency alternating voltages with frequencies of about 30 to 70 kHz. As a result, the luminous efficacy of fluorescent lamps is increased by approx. 10% versus the 50/60 Hz operation of inductive ballasts. Thus, the high-frequency operation allows lowering the system rating without reducing the luminous flux of the lamp. A preheating of the electrodes during the starting process prevents the electrodes from being early destroyed by higher switching frequencies.

The Energy-Efficiency-lndex serves as a basis for an objective evaluation of the efficiency of a ballast-lamp-system. This parameter has been introduced by CELMA, the Federation of National Manufacturers Associations for Luminaires and Electrotechnical Components for Luminaires in the European Union. In order to assure a standardised classification of a given control unit into the Energy-Efficiency-lndex, measurements are based on the European Norm EN 50294 “Measurement method of total input power of ballast-lamp circuits”. The Energy-Efficiency-lndex especially applies via the implementation of the European Regulation 2000/55/EC about energy efficiency requirements as to ballasts for fluorescent lamps. This regulation aims at provoking the changeover to efficient and energy saving systems in view to improved climate protection. Against this background, according to EC-Regulation, inductive ballasts with very high power loss, classified D, are since 21.05.02 no longer allowed to be circulated. SENSOR OPTION EFFICIENCY AND CONTROL IN ANY SITUATION

The sensor option expands the range of the weatherproof luminaires portfolio, offering an efficient and automatic control of lighting. The HF frequency sensor is designed for indoor applications and is integrated in the gear tray of the weatherproof luminaire behind the plastic cover. EMERGENCY LUMINAIRES Emergency lighting is a battery-backed lighting device that comes on automatically when a mains failure occurs. They provide light in the event of an emergency to allow occupants to safely evacuate the building or simply, provide enough light for essential operations to take place.

EMERGENCY LUMINAIRE TYPES A) Self-contained luminaires Is an emergency lighting fixture in which all the components, such as the battery, are contained within the luminaire or adjacent to it i.e. within 1m cable length. These devices allow emergency lighting independent of the mains supply. They feed on a rechargeable battery. B) Central battery An emergency luminaire, which is energized from a central emergency power system that is not contained within the luminaire. The power supply is realised from a centralised point. C) Emergency kit Kit that converts a normal lighting fixture into an emergency lighting one.

MODE OF OPERATION Self contained emergency lighting fittings may operate in maintained, nonmaintained and sustained operation. 1) Maintained The emergency lamps are on at all times. Maintained mode is generally used in public places like theatres, cinemas, clubs and halls. 2) Non-maintained The emergency lamps only light on when the mains supply fails. Non maintained is used mainly in the workplace or similar premises where the normal artificial lighting is on during the time the premises is occupied. 3) Combined Luminaire equipped with two or more lamps, at least one operating in presence of mains supply and the other operating when mains supply fails. A combined emergency luminaire can be either maintained or non-maintained.

The delivery of offers does not oblige us to accept the order. All orders and compromises are only valid if we have expressly ratified them in writing. 3. Prices The prices of the Price List in force are understood to be for materials in stock. We reserve the right to modify the prices; if it is possible, said variation will be communicated in the best possible time. 4. Delivery Time Delivery time will be confirmed individually once the order is accepted. Delivery time set by ZALUX, S.A., will be respected and only modified due to production or force majeure. Delay will be communicated to the customer in advance, for his approval. Delivery delays will not allow the buyer to neither cancel the order nor to apply any penalty nor indemnifications for it, except for the case that it has been specifically agreed in advance. 5. Orders ZALUX, S.A., can unilaterally annul current orders, if the circumstances of a main force that impede their completion should occur. Understood as circumstances of a main force: industrial disputes, labour disruptions, shortage of raw materials, etc. The buyer cannot annul orders for specially made materials without our written agreement. In case of acceptance on our part the expenses incurred up to the moment of cancellation will be charged to the buyer. 6. Packaging The products are sold in their original cardboard package. Under certain circumstances or the buyer indicates to us to use another package, it will be charged to the buyer at its cost price. 7. Transport With the delivery of the merchandise to the transport agency the delivery is considered to have been correctly made. The risks of transport of the consignment of our products are on the buyers’ account. They can only reclaim from the transport agency for the damages incurred during transport. We will with the utmost pleasure collaborate and support their reclamation with details, etc.

8. Measurements The measurements are given in millimetres in the descriptions of the models. We reserve the right to introduce small deviations in the measurements as well as modifications due to improvements to the models. The price would be susceptible to variation in this case. 9. Reclamations Reclamations relative to numerous faults and defects will only be valid if the proper reclamation has been sent within the seven days as from the reception of the merchandise. If the reclamation is founded and the merchandise is in its original state, the corresponding acceptance will be sent. 10. Return of Material Return of material will not be accepted for reasons of mistaken instructions, shapes, quantities or material to be repaired, if we have not previously given our written authorisation. Those returns must be sent DDP ZALUX and 30% demerit of the original value will be applied. We do not accept the return of specially made products. 11. Property rights In all cases and even against a third party, ZALUX, S.A., conserves the full ownership of all the supplied materials, in the case that the full agreed payment has not been settled. 12. Patent rights All the models in this catalogue are protected by law. Legal action with right to redemption will be taken against anyone making imitations. 13. Reprints Total or partial reproduction of this catalogue is forbidden without the corresponding written authorisation of ZALUX, S.A. 14. Payment The form of payment will be established at the time of making a firm order for the merchandise, in accordance with the usual standards in ZALUX, S.A. 15. Jurisdiction For any question that could arise in the completion or interpretation of these general rules, the contracting parties, with expressly renouncing any local law code that could correspond to them, will be submitted expressly to the Magistrate Law Courts of Zaragoza. 16.
