Now that the pressure of the election is behind us, the next pressing controversy on everyone’s mind is “should there be an apostrophe after the S in ‘Las Vegas Finest?’” Let’s face it, we’ve all wondered. It’s kept us awake at night, tossing and turning, pondering endlessly; is the current spelling of our magazine correct or do we need to go back to grammar school? Well rest assured, in this particular case either is correct. All politics and humor aside, 2017 is poised to be an exciting year of growth. New construction is at an all time high. Buyers are building for prices that a few years ago would have seemed incredulous. Corporate relocation, commercial developments, the NHL expansion team, as well as a high possibility of the Raiders relocating, are all opening the Las Vegas luxury real estate market, which was once enclosed and localized, to a globalized one. In terms of architecture and design, we are seeing cutting edge trends that would awe even the savviest Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright savant. Las Vegas is growing up. COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT At only 18 years old, Carter Agassi is a professional artist with her first piece being commissioned at only 15 years old. Carter was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and had a paintbrush in her hand before she could walk. She studied formally in high school at the Las Vegas Academy of Performing and Visual Arts majoring in the Visual Art program and winning various awards. Carter, a member of the National Honor Society, cultivated her skills full-time while completing her senior year of high school on-line in order to devote more time to her craft. Carter’s academic excellence led her to receive a scholarship at Baylor University in Waco, Texas where she now attends as a freshman. Carter is a business major with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship and Corporate innovation and plans to minor in Sociology. In addition to Carter’s art, she has devoted her time and energy to various charities. Some of her favorites include Coloring for Chemo where she volunteered instructing

and assisting hospitalized children with arts and crafts. Carter also enjoyed volunteering for three years at Spirit Equine Therapy, and four years in the Children’s ministry at Central Christian Fellowship Church. Beginning October 22, Carter’s art will be displayed and sold at The Gallery of Music and Art at the Forum Shoppes in Caesar’s Palace. Part of Carter’s proceeds will be donated to her uncle’s foundation, the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education. Shapiro & Sher Group was cordially invited to attend the grand opening event for Carter’s exhibit. It was a packed house as people moved between displays, appreciating her edgy and inspiring creations. The theme of her work draws from rock and rock icons and lyrics. At such a young age and full of ambition, Carter was a delightful host, beaming from the excitement of such a grand success. The entire Agassi family was in attendance and showed nothing but pride for their rising super star.
