PHILANTHROPY EDITION In this issue of Las Vegas IS Luxury how can I not focus on community and on giving back? Those of us that receive this magazine live, in most cases, a charmed life. Our problems, challenges, and stresses are generally not related to basic survival. For that reason, I’d like us all to take a moment to reflect with gratitude on how fortunate we are and what a privilege it is to be able to help others. Many of you may be aware that we have reignited our quarterly TASTE events which combine beautiful homes, like-minded people, excellent food and entertainment with a hand-picked local philanthropy. Bringing these events back has revived our passion for giving and allowed us the opportunity to spend more time with you, our clients and friends. This holiday season please step out of your comfort zone and help those that are unable to help themselves by giving time, money or both. The Ivan Sher Group has had another phenomenal year in facilitating some of the greatest sales throughout the city. Within this issue, we have highlighted some 2018 sales to celebrate throughout Las Vegas and Henderson. It’s not an individual effort: we work and succeed as a team. Our agents are the best luxury ambassadors in the city. Our entire staff, international network, marketing initiatives, and exclusive relationships allow The IS Group to deliver results to our clients the whole year. What’s next for us? We solidify our foray into the Southern California market by opening in Newport in early 2019. So much of our business comes from the West Coast, and we can better serve our clients by being a conduit between these two markets. We are investing in continuous excellence in technology and marketing, and we’re part of a rarified group of luxury brokers throughout North America. WORLD HERITAGE MARIO BASNER PHOTOGRAPHY

Photographer Mario Basner’s success comes from a journey of self-discovery. Best-known for his award-winning World Heritage Collection, he found his way to photography after a 25-year career in music. “The majority of my work is about personal growth,” Basner shares from his Las Vegas gallery in Tivoli Village. “My work’s purpose now is to enrich the lives of others.” When we spoke to Basner, themes of culture and community were apparent. When he opened the gallery in January of 2017, it was scheduled as a six-week exhibition. Basner refers to it as an experiment that has been embraced by the city now for two years. “I like to think it’s a slice of culture in the city…a valuable addition to the landscape of art and culture.” His work is not only a contribution to the local art scene but a gift to deserving organizations. Basner presented a recent master class for the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, and more educational programs are in the works. He’s also donated pieces to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Nathan Adelson Hospice, and the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation. His exhibited works have received over 50 international awards of excellence and earned Basner a coveted invitation to the Venice Art Biennale in Italy. He also just returned from New York, where the Zeiss lens company filmed a documentary about Basner to be released in December 2018. “My work being featured is a tremendous honor, and I’m grateful for the opportunity it provides me to give back to the community on a larger scale.”

Started by Mickey Kulwin in the famous Thunderbird Hotel, son Darryl now runs the business. “We try to be as involved in the community as possible,” says the younger Kulwin. “We love giving back to those that have helped make our business successful.” And successful it is: T-Bird Jewels is now a Vegas institution for its luxurious pieces and client service. (T-Bird’s artisans created a Tudor watch exclusively for members of the Golden Knights hockey organization at owner Bill Foley’s request in appreciation for a fantastic inaugural season.) In addition to supporting JDRF (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), Golden Rainbow, and PBS, the team has been involved with the Lou Ruvo Center since the facility first opened. T-Birds also donates its one-of-a-kind pieces to the Golden Knights’ Folded Flag organization. “If you’re going to be philanthropic, you’ve got to be philanthropic all of the way,” shares Kulwin. In further support of their community and the NHL team it loves, T-Bird partnered with the Vegas Golden Knights to create a line of exclusive jewelry only available at the Arsenal and T-Bird’s Summerlin locale. The collection includes pieces for both men and women, and it just might be the perfect holiday gift for the hockey fan on your list.

LAS VEGAS IS GIVING BACK H O W T H E I VA N S H E R G R O U P GIVES BACK

With our focus on community involvement this issue, we wanted to share a review of the Ivan Sher Group’s philanthropic giving in 2018. Our leader Ivan Sher has too many charitable moments this year to count—from sponsoring his daughter’s theatre program to being an inaugural Ballsfest sponsor. He has personally been involved with organizations like the Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Larry Ruvo’s Keep Memory Alive Foundation, the Smith Center, Grant a Gift, Opportunity Village, and many more. In fact, Ivan’s charitable support extends to more than a dozen local organizations. “It has always been important to my family and me to spread our support throughout multiple causes in our community,” he shares. “As our business continues to grow in this market and others, we want to make a more concerted effort to be a part of the communities in which we live.” It is with this mindset that the entire Ivan Sher Group organization can play a big part within the Las Vegas community. Fine Homes Specialist Lisa Quam’s charity Imagine produces music events with the proceeds going to purchase brand new instruments for public school music departments. Imagine has raised over $100,000 to date to impact students at five schools. Broker-Salesperson Evangelina Petroni serves as board member of the Children’s Heart Foundation and recently completed the Leadership Henderson Program. She was voted class speaker for this group of leaders with a successful project that raised over $30,000 for the Be a Shero Foundation. Broker–Salesperson Madison Blau BenShiimon volunteers on the Women’s Philanthropy Council for Jewish Nevada and is the co-chair for the Women’s Philanthropy United Event for 2019. Broker–Salesperson Nicole Tomlinson created Operation Santa’s Workshop when she felt Las Vegas was missing an interactive experience for children to enjoy and create family traditions. Operation Santa’s Workshop is a unique experience where a child can visit Santa and see elves preparing for the holidays; the organization offers free tickets to families from recognized non-profit agencies and active duty military.

With a new state-of-the-art facility, Jaguar Land Rover Las Vegas offers Southern Nevada a luxury automobile experience backed by a company with deep roots in Las Vegas. Jaguar Land Rover Las Vegas is a member of the Findlay Automotive Group, which has served the community for over 55 years. The group is well-known for its philanthropic initiatives, and each store has the autonomy to support other local causes. We sat down with Centre Manager Ray DiNardi, a Valley native who has been the general manager of Land Rover since 1999. (Jaguar joined the portfolio in 2015 when Findlay acquired it.) Upon meeting him, his passion for his product—and his community—is evident. “It’s very important to Findlay Automotive Group to give back to the community,” he says. Jaguar Land Rover supports many different community organizations, its involvement varied to give its team members multiple opportunities for participation. From hosting a clay pigeon shoot for the Boy Scouts of Southern Nevada to grief support at Adams Place and school gardens with Create a Change, Jaguar Land Rover has philanthropy at the core of its values. Its new facility—located directly off of the 215 on Roy Horn Way—was designed with sustainability in mind. The car wash only uses reclaimed water, and the entire dealership is automated for maximum energy efficiency. “With the backing of Findlay Automotive Group,” shares DiNardi, “we can be good stewards of the environment and play a big role in the community we call home.”

BALLERSHIP THE INAUGURAL BALLSFEST VEGAS

Ballsfest is a nonprofit organization that partners with local organizations like the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, Cure for the Kids Foundation, and Summerlin Hospital to identify local children battling cancer to receive gifts and inspiration. After a decade of Ballsfest in other parts of the country, this event came to Las Vegas this fall. “After Ballsfest has lifted the hearts of children in Saratoga Springs and Phoenix, we decided to bring the event to a city I consider another home,” shares founder Frank DeBlasi. “When looking for community leaders to sponsor our inaugural Ballsfest Vegas, Ivan Sher was one of the first people I contacted, and the rest is history.” The Ivan Sher Group served as a Ballership level sponsor of the event which took place on a sunny October afternoon at the Waldorf Astoria. Through this donation level, Baller Katerine Soriano was gifted a complete room makeover and personal computer. Ivan Sher remarks, “It was a fantastic event where we were thrilled to provide the gift of hope to Katerine and her family.”
