About Me I suppose it is possible to say that what I do became natural to me. I can remember my mother always telling me that I was going to be artistic because I viewed everything in a different way then the other kids I grew up around. Playing games and coloring became more like a third eye. Adding more details to every coloring sheet and pointing out the flaws of characters in movies was just the beginning of my career as a graphic designer. I first began to gain a passion for graphic communications in my junior year of high school. I was placed in a multimedia design class were I began to learn the basics about an adobe program called photoshop. From the first day of class, I knew then that this was going to be an easy “A” and nothing more. However, after learning how every tool works and their short cut keys, I started to put more time and effort into my work. I later asked my teacher if he could put the program on my laptop I had at home so that I can have more time to practice. He was glad to do so. When class lessons were taught and projects were being given, my teacher started to see how talented I was right away. My work began to be an example to the class. I admired my teacher a great deal because he seem to put a great deal of focus into my work. “What would be my college major?”, became the topic of my senior year. As a result, that class grew my desire to learn more. College classes expanded my knowledge more then I ever thought possible. I was introduced to more adobe programs such as Dreamweaver, Indesign, and Illustrator. My college instructor began to teach several helpful guidelines that I will need in the work field. Right from the start, he stressed a great deal about keeping our files organized. One of the best things I have learned so far about graphic designing in college is that there is no limit to what you can create. From making flame text, to creating a pop out photo, it takes constant studying to stay on top of all the latest features of the new versions of adobe. On the other hand, if you have a similar talent as mine, you should know it is not easy to maintain. Just like buying a new car, you have to keep up with the maintenance. The same goes for being a designer; You need constance studying. Even watching tutorials can be a help for visual learners. However, do not just be a hearer, so to speak. You have to get into the program and experiment. I also found that researching older designers such as Paul Rand, can help you gain your own style. Patience is also handily when working into a new program you never used before. Be positive, take your time learning, and work at your own paste. In conclusion, what I can tell you is that I really love what I do. I spend time carefully refining, perfecting and even obsessing over my work. It is a passion.
