See her at the Passage Nautical display.
Recently awarded Cruising World’s 2017 Boat of the Year in the Performance Cruiser category, the Dehler 34 combines the comfort of a luxury yacht and the performance of a racing yacht with a sporty and elegant exterior and a spacious interior featuring the specially developed Dehler Uni Door Concept, with one door for three rooms. The 29-ft family speedster with stability, style and sailing comfort, hits the sweet spot in J/Boats’ performance sprit range. The 425 incorporates all of Catalina’s hallmark features: a functional, spacious cockpit, a comfortable, carefully detailed interior, and all the 5 Series features that have redefined the Catalina brand. The deck includes twin helms on performance pedestals with pre-stretched cables. Hull features six large fixed ports recessed into the hull for lots of light and visibility.

New Boat Showcase NEW SWIFT TRAWLER 30
JEANNEAU NC11
The Swift Trawler 30 is the newest model in the range and represents Beneteau’s continuing quest to define the trawler as it should be. She packs all the luxury, performance and power you’d expect to find aboard a 40-foot boat. Her stylish, contemporary lines distinguish her from the rest. Built for traveling long distances as much as for enjoying anchorages and stopovers, the Swift Trawler 30’s open layout is a plus for any voyage. See her at Passage Nautical.
Contemporary elegance is complemented by total transparency and seamless space. The modular internal features are restrained and comfortable: cabins, huge bathroom, salon, storage, and more. A panoramic view and a fully equipped helm station make coastal cruising easy and enjoyable. Bright natural lighting and excellent ventilation bring you closer to the elements.
PRINCESS P49 FLY
BAVARIA S40 COUPE
Cutting through the waves at speeds up to 35 knots or cruising at a highly economical 30 knots, the new Princess 49 promises to be sublimely enjoyable. She combines the latest Volvo IPS pod drive system with a new modified deep-V hull, providing ease of handling and maneuverability. Her social flybridge arrangement enjoys a twin helm seat, convertible L-shaped sofa and generous seating aft.
The S40 Coupe simply cannot be surpassed for variability. Large windows and doors transform the stern into a balcony and the cockpit into a saloon whenever you want, while the sophisticated lighting concept offers a 360-degree view at all times. With two double cabins and a large saloon with galley, the S40 Coupe is more than just a weekend motor yacht. The S40 exudes luxury and sportiness with unique spaciousness. See her at the JK3 display.
Come see her at the Silver Seas Yachts display.
Come see her at the Cruising Yachts display.
JEANNEAU VELASCO 37F
TIARA 3100 CORONET
Although slightly more compact, reinforcing a sense of intimacy and well-being, the new Velasco 37F is just as elegant as the Velasco 43F. Inside, every detail has been designed to increase window area, for a bright living space with magnificent 360° views. With her twin engines with shaft drive and thrusters, the Velasco 37F redefines the modern power cruiser – dedicated to family fun on the water. See the Cruising Yachts display.
While maintaining the heritage of the original Tiara Series, the 31 Tiara presents herself with a touch of elegance and style only seen from a manufacturer with over 60 years of luxury boat-building experience. The classic lines and timeless sheer are matched with modern features and benefits complementing her American made pedigree. This popular boat has been a big hit in the Bay Area as it combines seakeeping a kin to a larger yacht and has huge cockpit space for many guests out for a day’s cruise on the water. See the Silver Seas Yachts display.

Offshore speedster. More speed with less crew.
The new J/121 (pronounced 1-2-1) is a 40’ offshore speedster that can be day raced or distance sailed by just five or less crew. The best shorthanded J ever and capable of winning on any race track while also excelling in daysailing and weekend mode. Here’s a boat, class and program that redefines sailboat racing as a recreation and shared adventure with friends. It fulfills the growing need to simplify life and reconnect with those you really want to sail with.
The 29-ft Family Speedster with Stability, Style and Sailing Comfort
Pure sailing boat. Fast, easy to sail, and comfortable.
With a family crew, the J/97E can cruise anywhere with unparalleled ease in sumptuous accommodations. Underneath that exotic, sinfully luxurious interior is a pure thoroughbred – the unbridled, raw power of a Ferrari 12-cylinder engine rumbling to a roar to blast you around the track while you relax in Rolls Royce ultra-leather comfort and relish Jaguar-like silkiness in the S-turns – a rare combination indeed.
The J/88 hits the sweet spot in J/Boats’ performance sprit range – large enough to provide the creature comforts of a sit-in cockpit, inboard diesel, overnighting interior and head; and small enough to be single-point lifted, and owner trailered and stored. INTRO TO SAILING A BOAT OVER 40’
Are you considering a bigger boat and want to find out how it feels? Interested in on-board training? This two-hour class is right up your alley! The program is an introduction to sailing a larger boat, applying the skills you have, and understanding new skills you will need to develop feeling comfortable on board. This training will give sailors of all experience levels an opportunity to become more competent and confident in their abilities. If you choose to venture beyond the sailing basics, we’ll expand your horizons by teaching you what you need to know in our ASA Sailing Courses offered by Passage Nautical at our Jack London Square office, or private lessons designed around your sailing goals. Thursday–Sunday: 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.; 2:00–4:00 p.m. Online registration: $125 per person; $145 on-site Limited to six people per class.
TWIN ENGINE CLINIC: CLOSE QUARTER MANEUVERING & DOCKING Is it time for you to get behind the wheel of a larger power boat? Want to try maneuvering with a joystick? This three-hour clinic will teach you how to control a twin-engine vessel in close-quarters maneuvering, instead of the other way around. It is one of the few classes that you will depart or arrive at a dock as part of your training. All our students are pleasantly surprised to find themselves at a much more improved level at the end of this fun session. Following a short discussion about the four forces at work while motoring – prop walk, prop wash, wind, and current – we will review the basic undocking and docking techniques. This is a ‘hands-on’ clinic, so you will be doing the driving. You will practice fairway turns and backing the boat, and then we’ll move into a series of drills designed to lead you to mastery of common docking situations. The clinic is offered by Passage Nautical. Thursday–Sunday: 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.; 2:30–5:30 p.m. Online registration: $150 per person; $165 on-site Limited to six people per class.

Understanding and Troubleshooting Boat Electrical Systems Nigel Calder
Location: Craneway Pavilion Seminar Center Time: 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (Arrive at 8:45)
Date: Friday, April 7 Cost: $139/person; $249/couple
The number one source of problems on boats large enough to have an electrical system, both power and sail, lies in these electrical systems. Tech guru Nigel Calder, author of the best-selling Boatowner’s Mechanical and Electrical Manual (now in its 4th edition, with over 300,000 copies sold) takes participants through the core design and installation requirements necessary to head off electrical systems problems, and then delves into step-by-step troubleshooting techniques, including using a multimeter, that will rapidly identify most problems should they arise. Not only will you leave class with a far better understanding of your NIGEL CALDER electrical systems and knowing how to fix common problems, but you will also likely save the price of admission by not having to make service calls or swap out perfectly good parts in search of solutions. No previous experience is required.

Marine Diesel Engines: Maintenance and Troubleshooting Nigel Calder
Location: Craneway Pavilion Seminar Center Time: 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (Arrive at 8:45)
Date: Sunday, April 9 Cost: $139/person, $249/couple
The diesel engine is a critically important piece of safety equipment aboard any cruising boat. Tech guru Nigel Calder, author of the best-selling Marine Diesel Engines (now in its 3rd edition, and used as a text book in numerous diesel classes), brings his unique brand of humor to a seminar for boatowners, both power and sail, that want to get the most out of their time on the water. Distinguishing between contemporary and older diesels, Calder takes a careful look at fuel, oil, cooling, airflow and powertrain systems, describing in detail all normal maintenance procedures together with basic troubleshooting techniques for common diesel engine problems – defining what the untrained boatowner can reasonably be expected to do and what should not be attempted. You will come away from this seminar with an enhanced understanding of your engine and the confidence to carry out routine maintenance, which alone will save you the price of admission. No previous experience is required.

Randall Reeves
Randall grew up reading about and dreaming of the sea. He learned to sail on the rivers of central California and interviewed world-famous solo sailor, Bernard Moitessier, for his college radio station, an event that changed his life. Randall’s blue-water sailing began in 2006 when he crewed on a 40-foot boat for a 26-day, 3,000 mile passage from Hawaii to British Columbia where “everything went gloriously wrong.” He was hooked. In 2010, Randall departed San Francisco for a two-year, 12,000-mile solo loop of the Pacific in a 30-foot sailboat. Randall crewed the Northwest Passage in 2014, a grueling 65 days over an ice-strewn 5,000-mile course aboard one of only seven boats to complete the Arctic run that year. Randall’s preparations in 2016 have included long passages aboard his new Figure 8 boat from Kodiak, Alaska to Hawaii and back to his home in San Francisco, a total of 7,000 miles. Randall is a licensed master of vessels to 50 gross tons.
Virginia and Robert Gleser

Virginia has written the book entitled Harmony on the High Seas, When Your Mate Becomes Your Matey, that has earned rave reviews from the cruising community.
Wendy Hinman and Garth Wilcox
Wendy is the author of Tightwads on the Loose, about the sevenyear voyage she took with her husband, Garth Wilcox. With years of ocean voyaging and racing experience, this dynamic duo has plenty of wisdom and stories to share. Together they sailed 34,000 miles, which culminated in the hit book, Tightwads on the Loose, instead of a divorce. Prior to their adventure together, Garth sailed around the globe with his family and managed to survive a shipwreck, as well as threats from storms, pirates, gun boats, mines and thieves, a broken rig, scurvy and starvation. Garth learned how to McGyver his way around the world. Come learn from the lessons of those who have gone before.
