Official Show Guide Let’s go boating

Produced by

Join us at the Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show! Welcome back to our fifth year of the Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show in Richmond. And we are excited to be back and bring you this year’s show. The Craneway Pavilion and Marina Bay Yacht Harbor venues combine for a terrific footprint on the shores of San Francisco Bay to host a show featuring exciting exhibitors — both on land and in-water — and so much more!

The Pacific Sail and Power Boat Show is the largest boat show in the San Francisco Bay area. We’ve MARK PILLSBURY brought together a marvelous collection of boats in the water and a Craneway Pavilion full of exhibitors that are excited to talk with you about products, services, marine essentials and more. Have fun sharing stories and experiences about the boating lifestyle we all enjoy. The in-water portion of the show is a quick walk or shuttle bus ride down the San Francisco Bay Trail to the Marina Bay Yacht Harbor. As you walk the docks, enjoy the boats – both sail and power. From cabin cruisers to whalers to keelboats big and small, the in-water exhibitors will welcome you aboard to enjoy a visit and conversation. Plan to spend the entire day with us. There’s so much to see and do! Start with the Pavilion, sign up for one of our free or paid educational sessions, have lunch at one of our numerous food outlets, then take the short walk along the San Francisco Bay Trail to the docks at the marina to end the day with.

Most important is our “thank you” to the exhibitors, sponsors, vendors, hosts — and to you — for supporting the show and the industry. Sailing and boating fosters a special camaraderie. Our shared passion is a reason we are all here. Enjoy your visit. Warm regards,

Lagoon 40

Jeanneau NC 895

New West Coast Premiere The new Lagoon 40 features many new innovations over its predecessors. The new 40 features the latest styling with a more angular transom, longer rectangular hull ports to allow abundant light below and a coachroof that flows into an upward-angled composite hardtop, which gives the boat a modern, flowing look. The wraparound windows give great visibility and light for the main living quarters. Extra attention was paid to keeping the weight low, with vacuum-infusion construction and balsa coring in the deck and the hull above the waterline. To add to the ease of sailing, the mast is positioned well aft to make the main smaller and easier to handle for shorthanded crews. The helm is located to starboard with a set of steps. It’s a nicely integrated station where the driver can be a part of the conversation in the cockpit even while standing watch. Come experience our Lagoon 40 at the boat show and our docks.

Jeanneau is now making the outboard driven NC 895 in the USA and introducing it to the West Coast at Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show. It’s an ideal boat for fishing with friends or exploring the Delta with the kayaks onboard. The possibilities are endless! With her clever combination of design features for security, ergonomics and true comfort onboard, both on the exterior and the interior, the Jeanneau NC 895 meets the most demanding criteria. The 28-foot V-shaped hull was designed to be stable and fast. A true SUV of the seas, this new crossover features an innovative layout on board. She has two double cabins below and an L-shaped saloon seating accessed by secured recessed side decks on the starboard side.

Oceanis 30.1

Oceanis 51.1

The Oceanis 30.1 is easy to sail and lively to helm. It promises new experiences and delivers thrills. This robust, smart cruiser is small enough to trailer, opening up endless possibilities for sailing on lakes and rivers, as well as coastal sailing and high sea adventures. With unbeatable living space for its size and a focus on simplicity of use, the smallest model of the cruising range is nevertheless stylish, and fast. Getting-away takes on a whole new meaning.

The Oceanis 51.1 launches the new generation of Oceanises, with taut lines, a new stepped hull, and a well-organized deck plan. This 51-foot cruiser is elegant, cleverly designed, incredibly comfortable, and fast. She is a joy to sail on with friends and offers improved performance. Your Oceanis 51.1 can now look the way you want, with lots of new customizations and different 700 combinations.

New Boat Showcase Sun Odyssey 490

Swift Trawler 30

The new Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 490 will bring a new vision of life on board to the Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show. You can board this new design from Philippe Briand and Jean-Marc Piaton, which successfully combines contemporary style and harmony, all while respecting the heritage of her 27 years. This sailboat from 49 feet has revolutionized cruising: she is the only sailboat in their category to feature movement about the deck without obstacle. For example, the side decks are inclined, sloping down to the cockpit floor, meaning that there is no need to step over the coaming.

From the moment you step aboard the Swift Trawler 30, from its deck-level boarding gate and bulwark door, you are surrounded by innovation and a sense of fun and comfort. The generous starboard side decks are 24-inch-wide and run the entire length of the boat, while the cabin extends fully to the port side, making the most of the 11-foot, 7-inch beam. Stainless rails and a pulpit provide security while working on deck. As you step into the saloon through the starboard access door, you find yourself at the helm and surrounded by tons of glass and light. It’s like walking into a conservatory without the plants. The visibility in every direction is maxed out.

Sun Odyssey 410

This 410 is new for 2020 and West Coast premiere featuring a lifting keel. With her powerful hull, the Sun Odyssey 410 perfects the art of sailing and comfort on board. The model is particularly secure, featuring side decks without obstacles and comfortable coaming. The Sun Odyssey 410 benefits from a lower boom, which facilitates access to the sail and increases the sail area. Centralised winches, which can be controlled directly from the cockpit, also contribute to safety on board. Page 12 • Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show Guide • April 2020

True North 34 Outboard Express

This go-anywhere boat combines the timeless good looks, outstanding all-weather performance, spacious interior, and impeccable reputation that all True North boats are known for with the efficiency, speed, maneuverability, and shallow draft that twin 250 horsepower outboard motors provide. The accommodations plan is designed for adventurous people who want to experience nature – comfortably. The main living spaces (including galley) are all on one level, and connect seamlessly to the spacious cockpit in the stern. Come aboard the American engineered and built True North 34 Outboard Express at the boat show.

Rewind Bow Sail Furler UBI MAIOR

The Rewind®, a bow sail furler from Ubi Maior is on display at Euro Marine Trading. Ideal for both code zero and gennaker sails. In fact, it is the first-ever furler with a patented ratchet system, which can be excluded. It is advantageous because the internal ratchet stops the sail unfolding during winding. This increases the sailor’s safety, as in rough seas or strong winds, he/she can let go of the loop to keep his/her balance or deal with any unexpected problems. These features are all combined in a compact and lightweight product. On display with Euro Marine in Craneway Booth J10.

Winch with Power Rib ANDERSEN

Every Andersen winch is made with the care and craftsmanship that come from more than fifty years of experience. Andersen winches are built to last, to retain their exceptional finish and to deliver season after season of reliable performance and sailing pleasure to their owner through the years. Andersen winch drums incorporate the distinctive Power Rib™ which ensures a controlled grip on the line at all times, whether trimming or easing. The highly polished stainless steel surface minimizes vertical friction and allows the loaded rope turns to slide easily upward as the drum rotates, without the shuddering and excessive rope wear seen on winches that rely on a rough surface finish for grip. Explore the Andersen winch range on www.andersenwinches.com, including models with special finishes and electric motor options.

Advance Registration Seminars Understanding and Troubleshooting Boat Electrical Systems NIGEL CALDER (2 DAY SEMINAR) APRIL 17-18 • 9 AM - 4 PM SEMINAR ROOM A The number one source of problems on boats large enough to have an electrical system, both power and sail, lies in these electrical systems. Tech guru Nigel Calder, author of the best-selling ‘Boatowner’s Mechanical and Electrical Manual’ (now in its 4th edition, with over 300,000 copies sold) takes participants through the core design requirements necessary to head off electrical systems problems, and to optimize electrical generating efficiency. There will be an extensive review of key installation issues, many of them commonly overlooked or violated, with a hands-on segment installing cable terminals, which are critical to the reliability of electrical systems. Nigel will delve into step-by-step troubleshooting techniques, including using a multimeter, that will rapidly identify most problems should they arise. Various common electrical faults will be simulated and tracked down. Although the focus is on DC systems, Nigel will look at essential safety issues with respect to AC circuits, and measures to prevent galvanic and stray current corrosion. Not only will you leave class with a far better understanding of your electrical systems and knowing how to fix common problems, but you will also likely save the price of admission by not having to make service calls or swap out perfectly good parts in search of solutions. No previous experience is necessary, although this will be an intense two days for those with zero electrical experience! Basic wire terminal installation tools are required. These will be available for purchase for those who do not have them. The course includes a file with a set of 500 slides which can serve as an essential reference for years to come. This Advance Registration Seminar comes with a 2-day pass for the Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show. The seminar ends each day at 4 p.m. to give attendees 2 Page 24 • Pacific Sail & Power Boat Show Guide • April 2020

hours to walk the show floor and visit the docks as well as attend Latitude 38’s party, on Friday, April 17, 2020 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. and the Cruiser’s Party, hosted by Latitudes and Attitudes (previously Cruising Outpost), on Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.. Nigel is best known for his ‘Boatowner’s Mechanical and Electrical Manual’ and ‘Marine Diesel Engines’. Nigel and his wife, Terrie, spend several months every year aboard their Malo 46, ‘Nada’. They have cruised the East Coast of North America and the Bahamas; the Caribbean; the U.K and points as far north as the Faroe Islands; the Atlantic coasts of Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal; and Scandinavia.
