Why study English & Maths? Most universities ask for a GCSE in English Language and/or GCSE maths at grade C or above (grade 4 under the new grading system), in addition to a level 3 qualification. If you do not have a GCSE English and/or maths at grade 4/C or above, Warrington & Vale Royal College offer a range of courses which can be studied alone or alongside an additional qualification. This will be discussed with you during your admissions interview. We have a number of courses available to help you reach your full potential in English and maths.

Alex Massey Applied Science “When I started the course I didn’t have a good enough grade in maths so the college offered me the chance to resit GCSE maths. Thanks to that I have literally worked my way from the bottom to where I am now. Having my GCSEs and my qualification in science means I have a better chance of being accepted into university.”

Please see pages 25 & 34.

GCSE English and maths courses are COMPLETELY FREE if you do not already have a grade 4/C or above at GCSE.

Please note:

The information in this guide was correct at the time of publication in December 2017. All courses are subject to change.

Clive McWilliam Watercolours Clive, from Chester, is now using the skills he picked up during the course to enhance the illustrations he produces both for pleasure and in his career as an architect. “I draw quite a lot but I’ve always wanted to paint. There weren’t any courses in Chester so studying at the Hartford Campus was the next step down the line. I have really enjoyed the course, it has given me another aspect to the illustrations I do and made me think about getting some pictures together for an exhibition.”
