Ive chosen to look at David Carson as Ive always been intrested in his style of work as I am interested in editorial and typography work myself. I began to look into the background of Carson to see how it all started , He is originally an American graphic designer who was the Art director of Ray Gun , Ive included a image source of one of many covers. His style of work is influenced by typograhy and layouts which he is well known for , its been noticed that his type was influenced by the “ grunge” Era. With looking at other front covers he also started to use letters backwards and upside down and he also once used a font that was just symbols for an article that he classes as ‘Boring’. Carson also used blured images or discarded imagery , his work almost looked like it was layered with different work that he had created. I would say that his work is post-modern as there isnt much order to his designs and most of the space it used up with something
Neville Brody is a English Graphic Designer and typographer and known for his work on the Face and Arena magazine. Brody’s work is mostly magazines and alot of typography but his work also features on CD covers and albumns for such as Cabinet Voltano and Depeche mode. His work was very experimental and his work was sometimes discarded as they only taught traditional techniques. Although Brody was around in the1980’s his work does has a contempary feel.
Armin is a swiss graphic designer were his career began in 1947 were his work was recognised for the common use of elements of graphic form - Point line and style. This showed his work to be very simple. Armin’s body of worked was mostyl posters and was known use of ecomical colours and forms. I really liked his work as it was very simple and it seemed to be use of black , white and red. I also like his use of siple shapes for example squares and triangles that fit together
Hans Newburg was the founder and editor neue graphik which became popular after his success of being a copy writer and designer in austria. I found that hans newburg work was related to mine with the triangles and shape of mine.
