There are many institutions in the EU but, the main ones are:

The European Parliament • Functions: 1. Approve European laws. 2. Coordinate economic policies. 3. Control all the institutions of the European Union.
The European Parliament
• It is elected every 5 years.
The European Parliament • Its members are called Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) There are 751 members.
The European Parliament The MEPs are elected by EU citizens. The last elections were in May 2014. The number of MEPs depends on the population of each country.
