There are many institutions in the EU but, the main ones are:

The Council of the EU • Functions: 1. Approve European laws. 2. Coordinate economic policies. 3. Direct security, defence and foreign policy.
The Council of the EU • It is made up of the ministers from each member state.
The Council of the EU • Only ministers from the areas being discuss attend council meetings. • Agricultural issues → Agriculture ministers. • Educational issues → Education ministers.
The Council of the EU Each EU country takes turns presiding for 6 months.
