LOVE YOUR BODY The Love Your Body campaign will encourage women and girls to celebrate their bodies and reject the narrow beauty ideals endorsed in the media.
Every day, in so many ways, the beauty industry (and the media in general) tell women and girls that being admired, envied and desired based on their looks is a primary function of true womanhood. The beauty template women are expected to follow is extremely narrow, unrealistic and frequently hazardous to their health. The Love Your Body campaign challenges the message that a woman's value is best measured through her willingness and ability to embody current beauty standards. This standards are coming from: • Advertisement • Magazine covers • Fashion spreads • Tv shows and movies • Music videos • Web content • Clothing • Toys • Video games • Other products
What is it?
Why?
• Research supports that sexualization can lead to eating disorders, low self-esteem and depression -- three of the most common mental health disorders in girls and women, according to the American Psychological Association (APA). • The under-representation of women of various races and ethnicities can have a negative impact on the self-image of women and girls of color and on how others see them. Because our society's beauty ideal is often personified by white women, the dominant template is even more out of reach for women of color.
• The near invisibility of women with disabilities and women who do not fit conventional gender stereotypes can lead to these women devaluing themselves and society in general viewing them as unnatural or abnormal. • Routine objectification and sexualization of women in the media and other cultural institutions can lead to anxiety, shame, self-disgust, undermined confidence and discomfort with one’s own body.
Target Audience My target audience will be women from the age of 12 and up. Given that from that age our bodies start to develop and we should treat insecurities from the beginning so that they don't creep up later on in life.

Final Idea
Since most of the ideas thought of earlier included quotes from other people I decided to not restrict myself to just one quote and create several posters and promotional material using quotes by famous people. Research started by looking up quotes online on body image and self-esteem. My logo of course came from this final idea. I started looking at quotation marks in different fonts and playing around with the idea until I found a font called monaco. It has everything my campaign stands for. The quotation marks in this font are curvy, edgy, bold yet classy and after all, they are quotation marks. As I was working on the logo I realized that the white space in between the quotation marks created a shape similar to that of a female face so I moved on to trying different ideas around my discovery.
