01 Introduction PROBLEM STATEMENT In older adults, age-related diseases accelerate the rate of neuronal dysfunction, neuronal loss, & cognitive decline, with many persons developing cognitive impairments severe enough to impair their everyday functional abilities.
Gradual progression of these symptoms could further lead to neurocognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease & Dementia
TARGET AUDIENCE Older adults (60+) (Enjoyable for all ages)

02 Research & Analysis Seifert et al. (2017)
Seo et al. (2018)
Tao et al. (2019)
evaluated art/art therapy as a treatment for dementia patients and found that sculptural activity improved well-being in several areas.
presented a case study on how interactive artmaking activities improved quality of life for older adults, with results indicating potential for engaging older adults and improving daily lives.
investigated the efficacy of digital art installations for increasing motivation and cognition scores for elderly adults with dementia patients, concluding that the installation was a novel and effective intervention. 5

02 User Interviews All older adults interviewed defined themselves as not artistic, yet chose to engage in artistic activities

WELL-BEING
SOCIAL INTERACTION
Mechanism of Action 1. Act of creating art
provokes plasticity in the neural pathways of creative cognition & motor integration
2. Sharing drawings with loved ones
increase in social interaction
decrease social isolation
