Establishing Professional Practice Week 6 AutoCAD review:

To make this object I have used the ‘Circle’ tool to create 3 circles, I have also used the ‘On Snap’ tool to ensure they have the same center point. I have then used the ‘Line’ tool and ‘Ortho’ to draw a vertical line in the middle of the three circles. I have then used the ‘Offset’ tool to add replicas of this line at the same distance as is between the circles.

Here I have used the ‘Trim’ tool. I have added two diagonal lines to my drawing and selected them as the cutting edge for the ‘Trim’ tool, I have then erased (or trimmed) all of the lines that intersected the two diagonal lines.

To make this drawing I have used the ‘Line’ tool, the ‘Ortho’ tool, the ‘Offset’ tool and the ‘Fillet’ tool. The ‘Fillet’ tool (F + space) is similar to the trim tool, if lines are over crossing you select the parts of the lines you wish to keep and the ‘Fillet’ tool will crop the rest of it. Here I have used it where my offset lines were crossing over at the corners.

If you want to find the point where two lines would meet you can look at their extensions. To do this first turn the ‘Onsnap’ tool on, then turn on the ‘Line’ tool. hover the cursor over the top of the line at the snap point and pull it upwards to show the green extension line, then without clicking anything do the same from the top of the other line and the two lines will join to show the meeting point.
