Our Focus...YOUR News In Memoriam

Cynthia Stevens April 4, 1959 - December 19, 2018

Bridget Marion Hutchison (nÊe Pyke) 1939 – 2019 Graceful and loving to the end, daughter of the late Graeme and Mary (Peech), Bridget Marion Arbell Pyke was born in Montreal on July 25, 1939. On May 30, 1959 she married at St. James’s Church in Hudson-Heights to Robert Andrew Caverhill Hutchison, who survives her along with their three children, Daphne (Omer Magen), Tamara (Mohammed Boughzala) and Chloe (Bob Wiltshire), grandchildren (Nizan, Tamir, Guy, Orian, Zoe, Juliet and Mara) and great grand children (Nadav and Shaked). Predeceased by her sister Prudence Pyke Burgess (AndrÊ Millar), survived by her sister Angela Pyke Silsby (Brad Silsby) and her brother James Pyke (Debbie Steffy). Bridget attended Sir George Williams College and after her marriage resided for many years in Switzerland where she pursued her love and talent with horses and the decorative arts, while her heart always remained in Hudson where she returned and took up residence in 1984 with her youngest daughter Chloe. Biddy went on to develop her gift and passion for garden design which brought her from the early 1990s to spend many months in North Carolina where she met and grew very close to the Spivey family. In her later years, she found great pleasure in playing bridge and socializing with a lovely circle of friends in Hudson. Bridget passed away peacefully on February 26, 2019 at the Maison de Soins Palliatifs de Vaudreuil-Soulanges in Hudson, surrounded by her family and her dear friend John Spivey. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to very special nurses of the CLSC in Rigaud and Nova Hudson, and to the wonderful and loving nurses, doctor, staff and volunteers at the Maison de Soins Palliatifs de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. A small gathering of friends and family will be held in the cemetery at St. James Church in early July.

Cynthia passed peacefully at the VaudreuilSoulanges Palliative Care Centre in Hudson on December 19, 2018 with much gratitude to the staff for the dignity and respect we all received. Cynthia leaves behind partner Patrick, her sister Susan, her sons Marc and David (Melissa and Dante). Also many family and friends, and her beloved pets. On April 4, 1959, Cynthia Stevens was put on this earth to find a unique special place in our hearts where she will forever remain. A special thanks to Gail Smith and Susan Payne and to Nova Hudson for their great caring of her. As well to the special people at the Palliative Care in Hudson.

Sheila Cross Bartram Peacefully, on March 28th, at her home in Hudson with her son Steven by her side, Sheila Marjorie Cross Bartram (nee Jaques), in her 91st year. Predeceased by her first husband, George Cross, her second husband, Howard Bartram and her sisters Anne Ross and Jane Gilbert. Loving mother to sons Steven Cross of Montreal and David Cross of England. Adored by her three grandchildren, George, Trevor and Sheleigh and many nieces and nephews. Sheila has been a vibrant presence in Hudson for many years. A member of Whitlock Golf and Country Club, Hudson Yacht Club, and volunteer with the Hudson Library, she will be remembered for her joie de vie, energy and willingness to step up and lend a helping hand wherever needed. She was also an active member and volunteer parishioner at St. James’ Anglican Church. Special and heartfelt thanks to the staff at NOVA Hudson for their wonderful care and support. Funeral services will be held at St. James’ Anglican Church, 642 Main Rd. Hudson, on May 25, 2019 at 2pm. A reception will follow in the Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to NOVA Hudson, 202-465 Main Road, Hudson, QC J0P 1H0 or http://www.novahudson.com/Donations.htm would be greatly appreciated. Thursday, April 4, 2019
