Over $68,500 Raised at the VSPCR 7th Annual Walk!

“Every step counts towards reaching our goal!” On May 6th over $68,500 was raised at the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence Foundation (VSPCRF) Annual Walk (presented by Jean-Coutu, the store of Ann S. Zakhari & Jonathan Chbat in Vaudreuil), which took place at MaisonValois Park in Vaudreuil-Dorion, to benefit the VSPCRF. Photo Credit: Valérie Provost (right)

Zakharia, and VSPCR Executive Director, JeanFrançois Thibert. “As our pharmacy serves the VSPCR, we have grown up with the Residence since the beginning of our young pharmacist careers,” said Zakhari. “We will always remember our first participation in the golf tournament more than 5 years ago. What impressed us, and what continues to impress us - not to mention the number of participants, volunteers and donors present - is the heart of the Residence’s mission: to offer free specialized end of life care services and support. And it is this same mission that brings us here today, at the 7th edition of the Walk” Photo Credit: Madeleine Langlois (right)

On a gorgeous sunny day, 250 walkers alongside of dignitaries, and volunteers of all ages participated in the 7th edition of this annual event. Thank you to over 85 volunteers who supported us with their incredible energy. A fundraiser of this magnitude is only possible with the help of everyone. Thank you!

2018 VSPCR Walk. The Walk also had a few donation surprises. The Foundation benefited from the indispensable support of the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion, which made available the Maison-Valois Park site and some of its equipment. The Mayor Mr. Guy Pilon also collected $2000 through his Foundation, which he donated to the VSPCRF. The VSPCRF also highlighted a special donation of $ 7,000 made by Marie-Line Leblanc, a local resident, who in April organized her fourth spaghetti dinner community event, in the memory of her husband.

The heroine of the Walk

Using her walker, Mrs. Deborah Smith recovering from a brain tumor, accomplished the 7 km Walk. In loving memory to her husband, a patient at the VSPCR, she exclaimed “This is my tribute to my husband”. Deborah was filled with emotion, as she arrived at the finished line, where she was greeted with warm hugs and cheers from the VSPCR care team, staff and volunteers. It was truly a most touching moment. The Foundation also wishes to thank and recognize the collaboration of several local organizations and businesses that helped make this a memorable experience for all.
