The most loyal customers at our birdfeeders are Downy woodpeckers coming for suet in winter, peanuts in summer. Recently I saw one or two trying to perch on the pole that holds up the feeders, but their feet are not made for grasping steel, so they slip. I’ve also seen a Downy trying to perch $ 9 G
