Dignitaries of the region were all smiles at the 2019 VSPCR walk. Ms. Christine Boyle, the Residence’s new Executive Director since last September 3, highlighted the Residence’s importance in our communities. “Most of you have had a close look at the exceptional quality of care at the Residence. I was already aware of the importance of palliative care, but I now realize it is ESSENTIAL. The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence is a need for our community, and we need the community to ensure it can continue to fulfill its mission,â€? she mentioned before giving the floor to Mr. Robert Grimaudo, mayor of Saint-Lazare. He said he was delighted to host the walkers supporting the Residence in Saint-Lazare. Vaudreuil-Soulanges’ federal MP, Mr. Peter Schiefke, emphasized the community residents’ generosity before joining the Walk with his family. Mrs. Anne Lauzon, chair of the Foundation’s board, pointed out that although palliative care is essential, it remains little known, sadly. “And yet, we are all entitled to and deserve serenity and dignity at the end of life. Over 1,580 experienced this in the Residence since it opened, surrounded by their families and friends, whom we care for just as well,â€? she added. We thank the members of the organizing committee and all the employees and volunteers who contributed to the success of the Walk. Special thanks to Marie-Line Leblanc, StĂŠphanie Taillefer and Madeleine Langlois. In Memoriam... Many participants walked in memory of a loved one who stayed with us, others simply walked to support the Residence. Enthusiasm, solidarity, and generosity were in the air, boosted by a warm sun! Then, walkers tasted the delicious, healthy salads and sandwiches generously offered by Buffet Marilou, to replenish their energy and delight their taste buds. We also celebrated the 9th anniversary of the Residence.

Happy anniversary to the Residence, celebrating its 9th year. Thank you to Buffet Marilou for the birthday cake! While listening to Andy Cook / Double Take’s lively music, participants were also able to enjoy treats offered by Montefino cheese, Au Fin DÊlice and do’licieux, whereas wide-eyed children, smiling from ear to ear, received balloon sculptures created for them by the P’tit clown aux ballons expert (Productions MakÊo). We could certainly not have organized this event without our other major partners’ precious contribution: Action Sport Physio, Adrien Brunet (Club Richelieu de l’Ile Perrot), Alain Chartrand Sonorisation, Chapiteau National, the Rigaud Optimist Club, Julien Gravel (Rigaud Knights of Columbus), Clinique Para-SantÊ, Erb, photographer Élizabeth Leroux, Rachelle-BÊry, Sanivac and the Ville de Rigaud. And, of course, we are grateful to the Ville de Saint-Lazare for welcoming us in its bit of sylvan paradise. Thursday, September 26, 2019
